The sprites are carried by being both good for 10 years ago and also the incredible vfx on each character's attacks. We could definitely do with some higher definition sprites. I feel like Blazblue also just used the same sprites for a decade though so I don't know if we'll get it. I am also one of the 9 people that care about chronicle mode. I'd love a manga or VN. Honest to god Chronicle mode was the thing I was most excited for in UNI2 and was really let down when I realized we weren't getting one.
My 3rd pick was between Lex (she is trying to repair an Automatic Nerve), Silvaria, Zohar, Sakaki (if they're going to pull a Gabriel), and Hiroha (I want to see how she fights - an backstory arcade since she lost her powers as an In-Birth - Backstory Arcade before UNIB one or two) until I saw the Hollow God on the picks (I'm hyped right now). My other two picks are Adelheid and Higan. What I hope is a Chronicle Mode to explain what happened during these 3 months before UNIB2 and I forgot to put two things on the survey -.-: 1) Unlimited/boss versions with using the versions of some Arcade Endings like Re:Birth Hilda, Carmine, Merkava (Bad Ending) and Enkidu. 2) Who are the other 4 Re-Births (there are 6 who exists and we got two).
Considering MBTL had those juiced up versions of Vlov, Kohaku, Noel, Roa, etc, something like that for UNI would be cool. Not sure how much reworked sprites would factor into them because at that point they could be their own what-if characters but yeah, something within the realm of precedent in terms of gameplay function.
I wrote an overly long answer so I'll just say that it boils down to: - I don't trust localizers to care about the product/series to be accurate. Granted, Arcsys handled it way better than Aksys did. - I think in this circumstance it would be a case of diminishing returns for a franchise this small. - Anime game dubs that feature a predominantly younger cast don't tend to be great to my experience so that's just personal distaste factoring into it. Tag's only good performances in my opinion were Gordeau and Hilda, and the latter only half counts because the performance was good but too smart to sound like Hilda.
@@DeepestDankest If they're willing to do it, it doesn't mean it's taking from other things. If anything, it's outsourced. You don't know much about game dev/localizations lol
Perhaps I’ve been reading the UNI early character drafts too much, since my picks were Zohar & Azel (The 2 characters from the very early drafts that Yoshihara _notably_ tried to work in to no avail) and Adelheid (I was at a loss for this one but since I wanted to see a Hime-like superboss type character I voted her). Though I’m _genuinely_ curious to why barely anyone read Chronicle Mode. …was it “I don’t care about this ‘story’ nonsense, I just wanna play & fight against others over the net!”?
Yeah Azel is around but unless his journey for Void Red does something to contextualize Hyde and the Insulator in some meaningful way, I don't really see him cracking my own Top 3 since Re-Birth Carmine just interests me significantly more. My best guess about why people don't read Chronicle mode, in addition to your point, is that there's no english dub for people to listen to it as background noise and because it's a no frills visual novel instead of something like Ace Attorney/Danganronpa which has gameplay elements. Attention span skill issue, I guess. Chronicle Mode admittedly doesn't get really interesting until AFTER the trio of exposition dumps but if people say they like the character then what's stopping them from learning about them from the primary source? I can't say I understand them. It definitely explains the guest character obsession.
Not an OG player and haven't delved as much into the lore (only playing Merkava's, Uzuki's, and Byakuya's Arcade Modes in 2 and looking at a general story summary), so I don't get the full context of the Tempest vote with Joker, but I do agree that it should be playable. When I played Uzuki's arcade mode, I knew from first sight that the character I truly wanted to play as was Tempest.
The Tempest and Joker connection is purely outside-of-the-game meta talk. The gist is that Joker isn't actually a character but a writer for Japanese game magazine called Monthly Arcadia, whose handle was "joker". While said writer was covering UNI's release in 2012, the series' lead artist Yoshihara drew him when the writer suggested giving him an in-game avatar as a joke. The joke went further with the dev team gave him some fake move-names and described his playing cards gimmick. Needless to say, it's still a joke and not real but Tempest is closest looking thing to "clowns" this game has seen since.
If we don't get a chronicle mode update I swear I'm going to start a riot. And regarding guest characters, although I believe they should leave the slots for original uni characters, if they were to go add a guest, the best candidate in my opinion would be Hikaru Otagi from Chaos Code.
No real idea how they could address it outside of an in-game update to just add it. A minuscule amount of people have read the first one so even if I would like to entertain a VN for the series, it would have even worse prospects for sales and readers. Really, it's not that surprising they didn't bother to include it on release. Less than 3% of people have read it and I've already seen other people ask who the hell most of the characters in the "who do you want playable" list are.
It's one of the official preorder bonus illustrations. There's Maid Kaguya, Linne, Byakuya and Tsukuyomi, Tsurugi/Phonon/Komatsu at the beach, and Hyde vs. Kuon.
That's fair. GRD Break in general is an already punishing enough penalty for people starting out. Not too many games actively punish you for attempting defensive mechanics like this.
@@DeepestDankest On top of that, skilled players would attempt to GRD break close to the end of the clock cycle, and that gives them vorpal automatically, which is already a huge damage bonus.
Vote for Tempest.

I honestly didn't care the sprites remained as they were, I just wished the voices were similarly kept the same if so little was going to be changed.
I would kill for actual unique VS intros like 3rd strike or similar
I can already see Carmine trying to attack everyone before the round even starts.
They need to do a free weekend during a sale. This could potentially attract more people similar as MBL.
Didn't that happen 2 years after release for MBTL though.

Just curious, why are you against an english dub? I thought the BBTag cast did pretty good.

Outsourced work means there's even less faith to be placed on dub VAs.
