Unlike the others, Nanako's tv world is a child like view of heaven or what she thinks heaven looks like so that she could see her mother again. She's so pure that she doesn't even have her own shadow.
I would find interesting if she had a Shadow and it tries to guilt her by saying she hates her father and that she just wants to die to see her mom in Heaven. But the whole thing simply results in a conversation that, with her big bro by her side giving support, she manages to accept her Shadow and get a Persona.
@@MaskOfLimbo kids can't make shadows, since they are too young and innocent. Besides, shadows are repressed emotions, the side of us we don't want people to see. It's pretty unlikely that a 6 year old would be hiding too much of her personality.

Ugh I swear to christ, when Nanako got thrown into the TV I freaking jumped into that dungeon underleveled to rescue her as if I had a personal stake in it. It was hard, but I managed a first day rescue, the one and only time I bothered to.
I am finding it hard too. I'm a newbie to these games so still don't fully understand the moves and stuff. Any advice? I need to get past that damn boss!! Driving me mad!!
Last summer I let my best friend Tommy borrow my PSTV and P4G, he had never played Persona before and I thought he would enjoy it. Early in the story he made a joke about Nanako falling into the TV and thinking it was Heaven. He lost his mind when he made it to this dungeon.
When I was a child I saw my little sister get thrown into a tv before my very eyes by someone impossible . My future mayor (see golden ending(sorry for spoilers)) went to prison for her disappearance. The a gas station employee made me the impossible. To the outside world I’m an ordinary exchange student but secretly, I use my persona to save people and find others like me. And one day, I find who kidnapped my sister, and get justice for my mayor. I am. *THE CHAD*
The events leading to Nanako's capture are so intense. Dojima finding out your involvement, keeping Yu away from the fight, Naoto running through the rain to try and prevent her kidnapping with no means of telling Yu, Dojima realizing he's the reason she became vulnerable and was taken and nearly dying trying to save her...it's all top-tier stuff.
@Low Quality Ice one thing i thought about is that perhaps namatame might have attempted to persuade yu into hiding nanako if he was there, since namatame knew that yu had some sort of involvement with the previous people he "saved", if yu refused, or attempted to explain the true nature of the tv world however... yeah, i think namatame might have attempted to take nanako by force (based on his dairy and how his shadow talked, he was not really in a good state of mind, so he might have taken drastic measures). That or he might have drugged off yu in the same way he did to the previous victims, and then take nanako away
I can't help myself; I do all the dungeons in one day so I can work on Social Links for the rest of the month. But in this dungeon, I blinked and I was at the top.

The heaven area was just amazingly symbolic of Nanako. One of my most hard-hitting moments is the discussion about life and death with Nanako as you explain to her about heaven and she exclaims that she'll see her mother there. Maybe that's just one of the brilliant reasons why Persona has such a big impact on it's players. Hits ya right in the feels ;-;
I told myself I was gonna play through P3, P4, and P5 one after the other, first time and as blind as one is able in the era of the internet. I gotta say I knew how 3 would end........still floored me like a full freight train.......I don't know if I can make it two more times and survive.
i always thought it was namatames dungeon based on his views of the tv world as a paradise and the hidden feelings that its way worse than the haven he imagined it to be
it suppose be more about her mother then Nanoko, my problem was Engruish, some of lyrics don't make sense in context, some stuff okay that makes sense about relationship of mother and daughter, others you are WHAT?
Yes, the bad ending. I meant the actual ending. in P3's bad ending, everyone dies too, but that ending is not considered to be the canon one that P4 and the sequels are based on. They are based on the 'good' ending, after all :D Do I really need to explain this? o.o
It would've been absolutely heat breaking if they had Yu Narakame get hit by a car in her memories moving cars and a car accident... it would've just worked well..... "Big bro wake up.... Big Bro Wake up!! no.... No not you too big bro I can't lose you too!"

I like how P5 did it with life will change at the end of the game. They give you the cuck version all game just so you can listen to it for 45 minutes straight. Feels good
i love how everything in the dungeon was designed after nanako's innocent views. everything looks like heaven, you climb upwards as if its a fairy tale. even most shadows in the dungeon have a fantasy design AND have a darkness weakness

jfunk1994 yeah, but if you listen to the lyrics, it sounds like it's from Nanako's point of view. "Those long days passing by" like when Nanako was left home alone bored all the time. "Finding way through my favorite tune." Nanako loves the Junes theme

This is by far the part in the game where everything begins to hit the fan. And the feelings you get when Nanako is kidnapped... It's just totally unexpected. You do your best to protect and save people, just to have your closest loved ones get caught in the cross-fire. Persona 3 may be the more depressing of the entries, but it really bothers me when people say Persona 4 is all happy go lucky. If you think about it, it's just as depressing, if not worse at some points.
+Foxhound 248 "Totally unexpected"? You have JUST received a warning letter telling you that your family would be targeted, what is unexpected is that Dojima actually doesn't notice that and doesn't put her under surveillance too. *Good ending SPOILER* Yes, the one who kidnaps her doesn't have anything to do with the one who sends the warnings, but you can hardly imagine that unless someone spoiled it for you before.
It is happy go lucky. Nanako's revival is canon. And I still kinda think P3 is more dark and depressing than P4, considering some lovable characters died (Shinjiro, Chidori, Minato)
The concept of Nanako’s dungeon is Heaven because of her backstory of losing her mother and wanting to be with her is so heartbreaking it makes me cry and emotional to think a little girl would think that at that small age
Seriously this part of the game destroyed me in so many ways: -Nanako gets kidnapped by some weird dude -Dojima get into a car accident -After rushing the heaven dungeon in 1 day (Don't judge me we all rushed it fr) and bringing nanako back she is in pretty bad shape -Nanako dies(Yeah I wasn't ready for that part Seriously), everyone is yelling at each other, brosuke practically wants to kill Namatame, and here you are in the middle of all of this trying to keep your shit together and act as a leader. -Learning that Namatame wasn't the real culprit, in fact it was our good old adachi who turned out to be a yoshikage kira maniac like. -Add to all of this that everything was the fault of a godess who happened to like Adachi's face and chose to give him a persona before getting dunked on by yu in the most epic way possible DAMN I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH!!
So who else rescued Nanako on the first day this dungeon became available? EDIT: Damn, didn’t expect my most-liked comment to be here of all places. Massive respect to all y’all who blitzed through the dungeon to rescue best imouto.

Funny Spoiler story, I was in the middle of my P4G playthrough when I looked in my youtube sub page and saw a new trailer for Adachi in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Naturally I clicked it, wanting to see how they made such an idiotic bumbling detective fight....it took me about 5 seconds before I turned the trailer off and thought to myself "FUCK, he's the killer."
I wish they would've just continued this song through the shadow battles (kind of like in FFX where they continued the area battle song Someday the Dream Will End during the battles in that particular portion of the game). I kept avoiding shadows just so I could listen to the song!
SPOILERS I hate this song so much but not in a bad way. All the events leading up to and beyond this point. 1)Dojima who you always felt was on your side throwing you in jail for the night, albeit for a valid reason. 2.The realization that Nanako, the character who became a really close little sister to you and a really lovable character throughout your journey, was going to be the next victim. 3. Suddenly Dojima gets in a car crash and now he's in the hospital. 4. The panic as everybody tries to save Nanako before realizing that she already got thrown in. 5. Knowing that every dungeon up to this points entrance was called "Castle Courtyard, Sauna Entrance" generic names based around what the dungeon was, and then seeing the name of Nanako's "The Pearly Gates" and seeing that it's based on Nanakos child like view on what heaven would be like. 6. The fit of panic to save her before things are too late, this is the only dungeon that I rushed to finish as opposed to taking my time and spreading it out for a few days. 7. The boss of the dungeon literally having an attack that forces your team and friends to fight one another. 8. Nanako being rushed to the hospital and seeing her all hooked up to the machines. 9. The slight lull and feelings of joy before Nanako suddenly dies. And everybody breaking down after she does die. 10. The mad rush to avenge her and kill Nametame and the large fight that basically splits your friends into two groups, along with your panic to talk them out of killing him. 11. Teddie's disappearence. 12. The realization that Adachi is the true culprit and that the goofball who was a loveable character throughout the entire game is suddenly a Masochistic Sociopath. Basically this whole section is a huge sucker punch to the gut. Whenever you think things calmed down, you basically get bitch slapped and you don't even know who you can trust anymore. And that's the beauty of it, this song is amazing and it fits the situation perfectly, better than any other song in the series in my mind, and Battle for Everyones Souls was an incredibly fitting and good final battle theme. But this song is even more fitting, and that's why I hate and love it. It hits you hard, you're in this hectic section of the game that just throws constant curveballs at you, and all you hear as your rushing to save your little sister, is this.
The joys of what music can do and what memories and feelings it can bring out. The song is great, but when you take into account of everything that happens before, during and after the part where this happens, it can really bring back bad memories of what happened during that time. An audio oxymoron? A peaceful and cheerful song reminds people of all the bad things that happened towards the end of the game? Still, what you wrote is true from start to finish, and it was a delight to read (even though it is mostly a downer and sad, especially the part when Nanako dies and it feels like you ultimately failed for those few minutes when it happens.)
***** You are a stronger person then I. When I was presented with the options for the endings, I broke down. The game immersed me very well... And I was angry. I wanted to see Namatame dead. Never has a game pushed me so far to make me legitimately cry.
Firebird865 I got the bad ending as well. I was too filled with anger and just threw him in like from the very first question thrown. Persona 4 is the only persona game that I replay over 3 times, because I just cannot leave, I feel so connected to all the characters
I'm happy to see that everyone immediately jumps in to the TV world when we know Nanako's there. I legit finished the entire dungeon in one sitting, one try from floor 1 to floor 10. The protecc squad is strong with this one.
YES I didn't expect to cry that much. It started with seeing Dojima break down about it too, because you know if he wasn't injured he may as well have joined you in the TV world, usually so stoic but you can hear his voice break too. I'm grinding through Heaven before the dungeon _after_ this (mostly to get the mini-boss at the top tho I'll probably grind other dungeons too & get over-levelled) and man this track.
I was so personally offended when I found out Nanako was the next victim. Usually I'd take a few days to gear up before tackling a dungeon but I went straight in and fought til I needed to get out; repeat the next day haha
This is exactly what I've been doing. The boss was too hard on Expert, so I've had to grind and work on fusing Personas. I'm on NG+. I should have fused a powerful Persona with Victory Cry last time I grinded to get Izanagi-No-Okami... Won't make that mistake again.
Full confession: up to Nanako's kidnapping, I was mixed on P4G. I bought it as soon as it went on Steam, but didn't get to actually playing it until a few weeks ago. Having played it after P5, I can say that P4G and, by extension, P4, have been objectively obliterated by the passage of time in a lot of ways. I loved the story, but the actual dungeoning reminded me of why I tend to stay away from RPGs. By the time Naoto's dungeon hit, I was bored to the point that I contemplated putting the game down. Thank God I didn't. Nanako's kidnapping and the subsequent mad-dash to rescue her might be my new favorite gaming moment. What makes this dungeon work so well is down to Persona's social link system. If you played the game like I did, you maxed out Nanako's social link as soon as you were able. She's a good character for a host of reasons, but she matters to the player because we spend so much time with her. She confides her feelings in us and relies on us to find answers to important questions in her own life. We're more than just a special bond to her, we're her big bro. When she gets kidnapped by Namatame and her father is injured attempting to rescue her, it falls on the player to save her. At this point, we also assume that Namatame may be the killer, heightening the stakes even more. Like a lot of other people, I beat this dungeon the first day it was available. Stopping Namatame is no longer about the case: it's personal. It's about saving your little sister. For everything I didn't like about P4G, saving Nanako made every moment I spent with the game worth it a hundred times over.
You know, because of how much I hate kids, I was going into this game honestly expecting to dislike Nanako, but instead.. She is in my 5 favorite characters for the game. To motivate this, This was the only dungeon I didn't do on the very last day, well, besides the "culprit".
***** How'd you like your coffee? Black=Don't try to sound tough, you sissy. With cream=Oh coming right up, madam. Sugar and cream=What are you, Nanako? "Daddy I want it black!" Surprise me=AHHHHHHHH
When nanako was kidnapped, everytime the character went home, I swear i could feel tears welling up in my eyes..... Then came harvesting the crack wheat i planted.... Did it alone of course *curls up in a corner and sobs*
This is what made the incentive behind this game feel better than persona 5. Persona 5 is very much "you have to take out the baddie because if you dont then bad things will happen to YOU" Whereas persona 4: "you have to save this person, they will fucking die. We cant make this any clearer. their life is in your hands." The fact the last kidnapping is nanako really kicked things up a notch. Not only is it someone purely innocent, but it's also your little sister. The girl youve been keeping company all this time. I'm not rescuing her because the game is telling me to, I WANT to do this. That's one thing that Persona 4 does better than all the other games.
P5 tends to go for more outrage. Since you are the one actively pushing against society, the reason you want to take down Kamoshida and Shido is because fuck you, you are utter bastards. Their stake is based on(mostly) how everyone was wronged.
P4 does an amazing job giving you a core cast that is well developed, to the point where you feel genuine attachment to them. It also helps that alot of the events in P4 are extremely personal, making characters show their deepest secrets which in turn opens up character development by a huge margin. P5 is a very good game and I cherish it just as much as all the persona games ive played but it isnt as personal which makes the game have to work harder to reach that same type of attachment. P4 will always have a special place in my heart because of how many emotions it had me feeling especially Nanako's arc.
@@prodigous21 kinda agree on this one, p5 and p3 was a great game, but P4? it has a special bond with me. They felt so real, like your own friends and family. You know when "never more" came in, i felt so empty....
If you look at the bigger picture it's the same in P5 the stakes are just as high , it just started slow but not taking out Kamoshida could have led more students to suicide, Kaneshiro killing people with debt, Okumura working his employees to death. Lastly if you didn't take out Shido he would have killed countless people opposing him including you and the Phantom Thieves. I think I did Shido's place in just a day lol.

Nanako's melancholy expression in the image for this video seems to suit her fairly well, as it's in this dungeon that the rest of the Investigation Team comes to understand how much pain she's hiding. Incidentally, this is posted on the fifth "anniversary" of her kidnapping, assuming you count it as before midnight.
Once i was done with Naoto´s dungeon i used all my available days to train my party and level them up and my Persona´s just to make sure that i would save Nanako in the first day . it´s a shame this music doesn´t continue in combat . if it did it would make this part even more memorable and intense , even more than it already is .

Plus Persona 4 deals a lot more with internalized hatred of yourself and such.
Seriously, the part with the fog is much more alarming than January in P3
+Foxhound 248 It is happy go lucky. Nanako doesn't die unless you get the bad ending.
How is that remotely sad?
It is happy go lucky. Nanako's revival is canon. And I still kinda think P3 is more dark and depressing than P4, considering some lovable characters died (Shinjiro, Chidori, Minato)
The concept of Nanako’s dungeon is Heaven because of her backstory of losing her mother and wanting to be with her is so heartbreaking it makes me cry and emotional to think a little girl would think that at that small age
Seriously this part of the game destroyed me in so many ways:
-Nanako gets kidnapped by some weird dude
-Dojima get into a car accident
-After rushing the heaven dungeon in 1 day (Don't judge me we all rushed it fr) and bringing nanako back she is in pretty bad shape
-Nanako dies(Yeah I wasn't ready for that part Seriously), everyone is yelling at each other, brosuke practically wants to kill Namatame, and here you are in the middle of all of this trying to keep your shit together and act as a leader.
-Learning that Namatame wasn't the real culprit, in fact it was our good old adachi who turned out to be a yoshikage kira maniac like.
-Add to all of this that everything was the fault of a godess who happened to like Adachi's face and chose to give him a persona before getting dunked on by yu in the most epic way possible

I wish they would've just continued this song through the shadow battles (kind of like in FFX where they continued the area battle song Someday the Dream Will End during the battles in that particular portion of the game). I kept avoiding shadows just so I could listen to the song!
*COUGH* as well as to save nanako the fucking INSTANT she was kidnapped *COUGH*
this is a year later but if you didnt level once from avoiding, you are BONED

SPOILERS
I hate this song so much but not in a bad way.
Still, what you wrote is true from start to finish, and it was a delight to read (even though it is mostly a downer and sad, especially the part when Nanako dies and it feels like you ultimately failed for those few minutes when it happens.)
did you play again and get the true ending? In the True ending, Nanako doesn't die, and Teddie Doesn't Disappear.
PrototypeQZ I never got the bad ending to begin with.
Duuuuudeeee, this made me cry 5 times, no fucking joke. It's so depressing yet just memorizing how the tune is pulled off.

I can't bring myself to NOT rush this dungeon in one go. It's incredible how it makes you feel like it's all or nothing in this one. I loved it.
Arguably the most moving song in the franchise. Learning it on piano now. Love this game
Who else was lonely af without Nanako saying "Welcome home, Onii chan"
i actually cried and stood there for around 10 minutes first time i came home and nana-chan wasnt there
Meeee! I didn't go in right away. I had to stock up and fuse. I didn't want to go in unprepared.
i always left the house as soon as the game made me enter it because it was so lonely i couldnt handle it
I was so personally offended when I found out Nanako was the next victim. Usually I'd take a few days to gear up before tackling a dungeon but I went straight in and fought til I needed to get out; repeat the next day haha
I'll save you Nanako.....right after I grind for a bit and do a few social links.
Oh and I need to fish
Lol
This is exactly what I've been doing. The boss was too hard on Expert, so I've had to grind and work on fusing Personas.
I'm on NG+. I should have fused a powerful Persona with Victory Cry last time I grinded to get Izanagi-No-Okami...
Won't make that mistake again.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's the passive protagonist.
you monster
You heartless!
This sounds so peaceful even though you're trying to stop someone from potentially murdering a little girl, other than that this is awesome
That's part of what makes it awesome.
The great paradox of the dungeon. A heavenly facade with death awaiting.
”Saving”
Unironically one of the best dungeon themes of the franchise
I listened to this on an overnight road trip and it helped keep me awake while I was driving, felt like I was trying to save Nanako lol
I blew through fights just to find her....I put myself in Yu's shoes lol. I'm a proud big brother.

There was a 4chan post where this dude owned a restaurant in Mexico where he played nothing but Megaten music lmao

You know, because of how much I hate kids, I was going into this game honestly expecting to dislike Nanako, but instead.. She is in my 5 favorite characters for the game. To motivate this, This was the only dungeon I didn't do on the very last day, well, besides the "culprit".
+christian oneill Frankly, Shadow Nanako should have been a thing :v
+AngelOfDarkness that would've been cool
As it is, I wasn't that hurt by it, especially having played P3 first than P2 afterwards :v
+AngelOfDarkness true I think a sadder moment is Minatos Death
I would be sad too but considering that he is shipped with a toaster, no, not really.

I also harvested my garden but it didn't feel right to plant something new without her t__t
@@notaburneraccount Just having the house empty felt so fundamentally wrong.
FOR REAL THOUGH LIKE ACTUALLY
This was the most powerful moment in the game
I still can’t believe I went through the entire game without realizing that
Nanako was the true killer
This is what made the incentive behind this game feel better than persona 5. Persona 5 is very much "you have to take out the baddie because if you dont then bad things will happen to YOU"
Whereas persona 4: "you have to save this person, they will fucking die.
I haven't even played Persona 4, but this song is almost bringing me to tears.

Honestly my favourite ost in the game, especially if you take in to fact the tension building from what just happened in the story and then you just get this nice chill ost as if the world is about to end
There haven't a day gone by, and I haven't played a persona music ever since the death of my grandfather...
That's nearly 10 years now.
It was his exact taste of vibe... He loved it when I played it. I do miss him. And always remember him when any of those sexy jazzy beats hits me in heart.
It's literally canon that no matter what playthrough, Yu fucking BLASTS through this dungeon like in a single day ripping apart shadows like the Doomslayer
Holy crap I didn’t realize until now: her name is NANAko. Nana means 7 in Japanese, and Heaven is the 7th dungeon you go to.
And 'Ko' means child.

it's the 6th dungeon unless you count konishi liquors as a dungeon
@@ROCKMANZOROLate, but the specific Ko in her name is added to make it feminine. Like Yuki is a gender neutral name, but Yukiko is a feminine name. That's why a lot of girls will have names that end in Ko, and for the opposite, a lot of guys whose names end in Suke.

no i did as well
+Yu Swag Master Narukami
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that thought so.
While what Namatame did was a little dumb, I can understand where he was coming from.
Brave Vermillion yeah especially since when he tried helping saki, she blew him off and she died.
the real question is, am I the only one who likes Adachi?
+Yuno Gasi
Nope, i can relate to him to an extent, kinda. He even changes greatly in persona 4 arena
I recently started listening through the p4 soundtrack and I really relate to this song
My parents are getting divorced
And the line
"Can't get my mind out of those memories"
Is exactly how I feel. I can't help but remember what it was like having both of them in the same home.
The second reason I relate to this song is the line
"Still music keeps on tuning me away from... that hurts my soul"
This song and all of persona music is helping me get through this.
If there are any more lines I hear that I can relate to ill put them here.

Same man. My dad left my mom for some bimbo bitch and now I'm caught up in this stupid family drama. At least I have Persona and some friends to take my attention away from this.
This was honestly my favorite dungeon in the game. The feels were real and I loved how things got more and more eerie as you went up. On top of that, WE HAD TO SAVE NANA-CHAN! D:
I like shopping at Junes and everything, but their shit is only affordable when they have specials. I hate how expensive their stuff is regular price. Especially electronics.... fml, I just hit up Amazon whenever Junes is too costly.
me too man
It's so rare to find a song that is both gorgeously emotional AND a banger you can bop to. This is one of those songs.
This music realy makes you try your hardest to save Nanako .:)
