Doctors in the South charge $800-$1200 for the procedure. It’s done in their office in 30 min. Put ice packs on the lips and take pain med. Its hard to eat but there’s a lot of soft foods that can be had. Stitches come out in one week but the deeper stitches dissolve.

Yes -- difficulty fully closing your mouth/lips is a known complication.

Everyone ends up with a scar. But they do say, older people heal better in that area. So it's less noticeable in older people. Some younger people will have scar revision or laser treatments to minimize scars.
