Buy them. Personally I’m not skilled enough to make cuts into drawer faces that won’t allow dust to come into the drawer. I know I should practice but I never think about drawer pulls until I’m there about to need them
Yoooooo Shane!!! Freakin waiting for da interwebs to wake up & realize this Channel needs to be up over 100K subs bye now!!! Very cool build Bud!! And... da jokes NEVER disappoint!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Rockler recently came out with their own under mount drawer slides that are much cheaper and just as good of quality as Blum. You might try them and save yourself a few bucks. Blum is $41 for 21 inches at my local Rockler, their brand is $27 for the same length.
I’ll have to check them out. Unfortunately I don’t have a Rockler around where I live so I have to buy them online. My biggest gripe with Rocker is their return policy so I don’t order from them very often.
Combine? It depends on the piece though. Sometimes building a new handle has great reward too and is one that ends up being what sets the piece over the edge. But reality, I always have more part A as well. I tend to vary my finishes, but it's hard to argue with a good hardwax oil. I imagine that a team up of dad jokes "wood" be quite "plane". 👀
First, Buy them. Second, I would love to see a video from you abut sharpening and maintaining your planes. I know there are a lot out there, but for some reason I think you'd do it better? :)
I have one about the sharpening set up I use but it doesn’t dive too deep into hand planes specifically. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for a future video though!
I recently found your channel. Great videos. You have a lot of good things going for you. If I may suggest...a modest investment in better lighting would improve your videos dramatically. Also, feel free to ignore me! Keep up the good work.
I just came across your channel and really enjoyed this video. It's a perfect example of how after action narration limits any waste of time or verbosity. It also flows incredibly smoothly. Your explanations are great and the humour is really on point. Also shows great skill. Lovely piece too. Earned my subscription.
Just a question on grooves and date's. You said a groove runs with the grain and a dato runs cross grain. When putting a groove or dato in plywood, how is that determined? Isn't plywood small sheets of wood with the grain going a different direction with each layer?
Pulls - it depends on the piece I'm doing, but generally I make my own. Great job on this, dude. I made something out of maple veneer ply and yeah... sooooooo thin. The oak veneer ply isn't much better, but it seems to withstand sanding better and blends better with solid wood. I don't have anywhere local to me for it, but you might look into getting cabinet-grade plywood next time. The veneer is much thicker, but then of course your wallet gets much thinner. Trade off?
Thank you! Yeah this was Pro Select maple which is why it is so surprising. I’ve used it on a few projects over the past year and this was by far the lowest quality. I have heard from quite a few people in the area that have the same experience.
Well done; intricate yet simple, casual yet elegant. Timing, delivery, all of it. Excellent jokes. The furniture is pretty good too. Re: Rubio hardener, I actually reached out to Rubio about this a while back. Instructions say to mix 3:1 oil to hardener but if you look at the containers, they give you more than 3x of the oil than they do the hardener. Their explanation was that some people don't always use the hardener, which is a dumb explanation because by not providing enough hardener they're forcing everyone to "not always use the hardener", but is an explanation nonetheless. It feels like a ripoff, but it's so good I keep buying it anyways.
Nice. The reason you have more Rubio hardener is because they don't provide the proper amount to match their own directions in terms of the mix of A to B. It's mind blowing, but for whatever reason, there isn't enough B for A.
I like integrated pulls; however, I also like making my own pulls with a high contrast wood. For instance, I made some of my shop furniture with Radiata Pine and used Jarrah for drawer/door pulls. The trick was to make the pulls so they won't get caught on clothing as I walk by. Anyway, I really like this piece. The symmetry is definitely aesthetically pleasing and I feel those legs/feet compliment the piece nicely. 👌 I am also a sucker for push-to-open hardware and soft closing drawers. Well done, Shane!
@@TimberBiscuitWoodworks definitely. I feel the way you integrated the pulls in this piece works really well. I also learnt something new when watching your video. I didn't know the difference between a groove and a dado and have been using the terminology wrong all this time. So, thanks for that bit of information.
Nice work yet again. Good balance of talking vs video and a great balance of adding your personality and instruction. I have been looking forward to your new videos
I like to design and build them, keeping in mind that any furniture going into the house has at least one additional stakeholder that needs to be consulted. She often has an opinion about design details and carries two votes! Great work, sir. I'm all in for plans if you make them available.
In general, I like the looks of integrated pulls more than bought. Also, at least one of your jokes hits me every time way harder than it should every time. It was the tennis player one this time. 16:30. That was a good one. 😂😂😂 And since you mentioned this was for organizing your son's stuff in the description, Happy Father's Day good sir!

Fair point, it’s not top of mind in the grand scheme of things.
Love it! I would like to see the plans ☺️ thank you
Thank you I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to making plans for this one though
Your work always impress. 😃😃
I appreciate it!
Combine. It’s a work of art Shane and plans please! You have such a great sense for details. Happy Father’s Day!

Yes to plans, please. I love this design.
Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind, and let you know if I end up making them.

Thanks! Yeah I have a few studio lights in the shop but they are quite pricey so all in due time.
Beautiful stuff big man
Greetings from Scotland 🏴
Thanks!
Buy - though I don't mind integrated pulls, I tend to like actual handles better. I'm also fond of hand-made wooden pulls.
Can’t argue with you there I love wooden handles too
Excellent project! Can you give me the info on where to get the screw down table clamp? Thanks again!
Thank you! Which clamp are you referring to? If you mean the vice on the bench, that is the Bench Crafted leg vice.
I bought stainless steel 1/2” 304 bar to make mine… so completely custom and hand made.
Nice!

Wow. Impressive! Congratulations
Thanks! Glad you liked it
Definitely would love plans for this.
I have been getting a lot of requests the past two weeks on this one. So, I will try to get them together this week.
great piece of work . plans would be nice 🙂
Thank you! This one is making a resurgence so plans might be coming soon.
Can the three draws hold any paddywhacks?
Only if you're willing to give the dog a bone.
Buy... or build walnut pulls
Can’t go wrong with that
Nice build as always Shane! Happy Father's day!
Thanks so much!
25:40 It's ok to smile when having fun ;)
Haha, that too is a work in progress.
@@TimberBiscuitWoodworks haha, noice

I usually go based off the face grain for plywood when describing the joint. But yeah, plywood is crisscrossed sheets.
Happy Fathers Day Timber Biscuit!😊

Combine (or buy)! I feel like combining gives a cleaner look on modern pieces, but doing vintage style demands the appropriate hardware.
Great point!

Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for the insight! I’m happy to know I’m not crazy haha
Very nice build.

I can get behind that haha
Buy and combine, really depends on the project. Well done, I used my CNC to build similar panels, love the look.
Thanks! Yeah, doing them on the CNC is a good option.
Very stylish.
Thanks man!
Thanks. You share a lot of great tips that many people overlook, and it's appreciated. Always chamfer your feet!
You’re most welcome! I try to sprinkle a little of everything in there to help the next guy. And you know it! 😀

干活就干活,少量简洁的解说就好了。这样逼逼叨叨地没完没了,听得人脑浆子都沸腾了。
I mean if you don’t want the narration, just hit mute and play some of your own music my guy. It’s not that deep.
