When everyone on $50k and over aren't sucking off taxpayers via negative gearing etc perhaps we can have a debate on what is wasteful spending, including sending little Nigel to private school on taxpayers

Spending like drunken sailors… we need someone that HAS run a business to run this country, not someone whose not worked a job in their life,

In communist Australia, all jobs will be government jobs. If u want to keep your job, get pay rises and long term stability, the only way is to work for the govt.

I hope no one watching this is surprised. The moment Albanese became leader of the opposition I stopped spending. This will only get worse if Australian fools vote for him again.
Don't be surprised to see the AUD replaced by pesos.

Tax multinationals better and that’ll help instead of beating the workers

Australia has a very large mineral resource capacity.
Unfortunately past and present governments are unable to seriously profit for the benefit of It’s Australian citizens.
Overseas corporations profit more from buying Australia resources and selling them on the International market at a high profit.
Australian Governments, past and present are very bad at ‘doing deals in the International market’ for the benefit of Australian Citizens.
A NATURAL RESOURCES TAX ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SOLD AND EXPORTED OVERSEAS & PLACED IN A SOVEREIGN WEALTH FOUND FOR AUSTRALIAN CITIZENS,
    Will HELP.
Companies, multinationals organisations will not benefit and will continue to sell our resources.
The world wants what Australia has & Australian Citizens should benefit, not corporations.
    ---
I think the country of Norway is rich in resources and its people benefit this way.
    ---
Plus Australia will have less to worry about increasing Government Deficit spending & tax problems.
    This is only my opinion.

Man this is the worst of Sky News on display right here. 'Deficit spending' is such an overhyped bit of horseshit. We cannot compare the Australian economy to a household budget.

The current economic situation is brought about by years of following stupid economic policies

Leith, you said yesterday most of the additional spending was in the NDIS. You didn’t make that point today. If you are critical of additional spending on the NDIS, then it would appear you don’t care about the disabled or those in need. Should we just stuff them away in a corner and forget about them?
Yes, the Russia-Ukraine war certainly provided a boost to Government revenue, but at the same time increased costs locally. Combine that with the ramifications of Covid lockdowns and inflation rose dramatically. Labor also honoured a commitment made by the previous LNP Government to reduce taxes, albeit restructured to provide more relief to low-income earners.
Also, your call for tax reform is justified. But remember, Shorten went to an election with a modest tax reform package and was soundly rejected. Legislation put forward by previous Labor Governments to obtain a better return on our mineral exports was either watered down dramatically, or completely repealed as Abbott did with the MRRT.
In contrast the LNP idea of tax reform is to cut taxes for high income earners. And now Dutton wants us to believe a change to nuclear energy, taking at least 20 years to achieve and at an undeterminable cost will be beneficial to the nation.
There is nothing in their history or anything the LNP have said to suggest the current situation would have been, or the future will be, any different under their governance.
