@robbedontuesday Totally agree. I first saw (and met) Josh in 2004 when he was on tour with PJ Harvey...I worked sound for the venue they played and we got to talk quite a bit. Genuinely a really great talented guy. When he got offered the RHCP gig...I knew he was forever going to live in the shadow of Frusciante...and he was definitely NOT going to get to really display his instrumental voice as much in the confines of that band. I like the Chili's but with Keidis as a singer....you truly can only do "so much" ...not a ton of room for expansion. The RHCP have a sound that (like it or not) is unmistakably THEM and I knew Josh wouldn't really get to stretch out and I also had a feeling deep down that at some point Frusciante would return once again (especially since his divorce....his ex wife took a massive amount of money from him in the settlement from what I have heard...so his being bounced from the band...I feel was a blessing in disguise). I love Navarro and he will always be the TRUE guitarist for Janes...but Josh gets to play music with Janes that (if I had to wager) is more in line with what his true musical style lends itself to. Janes are far more versatile and sonic musically than the Chili's and Josh handles this role very well.

I only know that "I'm with you" and "The Getaway" together with the two B-sides albums, had real gems, composed and arranged by a different kind of creativity. Songs like Monarchy of Roses, Meet me at the corner, The Longest Wave, Feasting on the Flowers, and The Hunter, are at the same level to say the least, as Under the bridge.
Sorry but josh blows dave out the water. For all you dave lovers, Holmes is a total poser & been phonin' it in for years. Plus he used to kinda be a dirtbag hope he's changed his ways

I hope Josh becomes an official member of that band! The guy can be himself, and for sure, that scared the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who do everything to make it seem like Frusciante is irreplaceable (but he's not!). In Jane's, you can see that he loosens up and is who he is. Happy for Josh! I became a fan of the Red Hot because of him and stopped being one because of him too. I had never paid attention to Jane's, now I'm psyched for every show Josh is in. What a unique guy!
In the Chili Peppers he was always himself too! You can hear it in 2011 with his unique style. Fans were not familiar with his sound (and maybe waiting for a more hendrix-like style) but he put his own footprint in the band :) (Ah, I think Navarro is finally back at Jane's)

Josh is literally perfect for this! Obviously, Dave is the only man who truly completes Janes, but Josh here sounds amazing! Just like in the Chili’s

Josh really lets loose with janes. Wish i saw them when he was playing instead of troy. Josh just brings the energy thats more in line with janes
