@@jowarnis i think its the core new mechanic of each xpac that lasts through its entire life cycle, like legion's artifact weapons, BFA's HOA and now shadowlands covenants.
@@jowarnis borrowed power is the system Blizzard uses to make your character stronger, and then they throw it away at the end of the expansion. Legion artifacts, corruption and heart of azeroth for bfa, covenants in shatlands. It's supposed to help stop the crazy number inflation because they remove the systems at the end of the xpac, but in reality it just feels bad.
@@jowarnis to add on what was said : the main critique is that blizzard focuses too much on bloated, disposable (as in: throws away every expansion), that are hard to balance, instead of focusing on making the core of the classes and specs fun and strong by themselves
One reason that the PvP community is so toxic, is that the excuses are somewhat legitimate. Lots of things are broken in classic. It's not a fair skill based game. I'd say that the outcome of a match is 80-90% determined by teamcomp, gear, overpowered consumables, engineering, and cheesy strategies like wallhopping druids in WSG to reach exploit locations. There isn't a lot of "skill expression" to be had in most situations in classic, apart from some classes having 1v1's. Small scale PvP (1v1-3v3) with some specs/classes like the drakedog warlock spec, mage, rogue, druid, shadow priest, and hunter can be relatively skill dependent and fun, given that players have relatively similar gear. But an alliance premade with a paladin, 2 priests, and a balanced combination of the best DPS classes, all geared to the teeth in BiS gear, abusing consumables like FAPs and engineering gadgets, will always 1000-0 demolish an unorganized group of horde randoms in terrible gear, almost no engineers or players using consumables, with a teamcomp of 4 warlocks, 2 shadow priests, rogues, and one druid as a "healer". It is a legitimate complaint that the match was 100% unfair, and when 9/10 of your games are like that, it's easy to get a bit toxic when you can't even have a fight in the BG before being steamrolled. Still it's WAY overkill to blame the enemy team for it, obviously they are going to abuse such things if they want to compete in ranking. And it's incredibly degenerate to send hatemail, or especially threats to individuals for playing efficiently.
One reason, if not the main reason. I did the ranking as Horde and I felt toxic towards Alliance premades at times but never to the extent of creating a new toon and sending hate messages. I can see how others would do it though.
The problema is that, at the core Vanilla is was supposed to ben an MMO RPG game, and RPG are not supposed to be competitive PVP games, the PVE is the core of RPG balance since pen and papper.
I'm so happy being a casual, retail Andy. Playing the game for 2 months during summer, logging off after that, and doing it all again next year. This year, all I did was level my ret paladin and arcane mage to ilevel 410, complete the campaigns, do some raiding and mount hunting. I think I'm about to call it for the year and spend the rest of summer watching Asmon vods explaining why the classic community sucks (all be it just the 1% neckbeards). If you spend 100% of your time enjoying something that is meant to just be enjoyed, you will never lose, remember that
Classic is good if you find the relaxed people and a fun guild, but it is nothing like the vanilla community was when a huge portion had no clue what they were doing for the longest time and everyone still had fun and got things done, granted it was horrible as well sometimes but not as bad as classic.
itemlvl 410? bro you can get a higher itemlevel than that even without dungeons and raids, and im a casual myself, been playing for 3 weeks now and am at ilvl 439 or something
I was a rogue in a guild running T5 then t6 towards the end of prepatch. I remember there was another rogue who’s dps was always just 1-3% better than mine on Void Reaver which was the boss with which my guild ranked our melee DPS. I never understood why as I LIVED AND BREATHED my equipment/ability tree spreadsheet. I never understood why he always topped me until he quit one day and was like btw you know you were just missing x flask right? 3%. Three percent. I caught so much shit for that fuckin’ 3% and it was because of a fuckin’ flask.
WCB's the only worldbuff that takes a lot of effort to get (for Alliance). Other than that go ZG island, get your flask, get ZG buff -> Hearth to Stormwind for Ony -> Summons to uninstanced DMT -> get your DMT buff -> summons to songflower -> Summons to AQ40. If it's DMF week you add in a DMF buff after Ony. Assuming everyone in your guild levels 1-2 lvl20 summoners and you place them across the world it's not that complicated. The thing that takes time is if you don't have an organized ZG pop, otherwise all of that can be communicated on Discord when Ony is popping next or when there's DMT buff service available.
That's definitely a robe. You put on snuggles the opposite way you put on a robe leaving the gap at the back and the neck and shoulders covered up and 'snuggled up' tight to the neck
You may think it's a robe but there's no collar.. or defined lapelle.. therefore it's not meant to be open to the front but actually open to the rear with arms through the holes so you can still type while having a blanket on...
I refuse to get world buffs. I didn’t spend all that time leveling a main for it to sit for 6 days a week, we didn’t need it 15 years ago, we don’t need it now.
I'm still in the same guild as start of Legion and still play with the main core of people. I don't think anyone should listen to people blaming their lack of social skills on the game. It's very easy to befriend and play with a community still. Just gotta make the effort. Community isn't exclusive to classic.
no time is actually "wasted". You enjoyed the times so it wasn't wasted. If you wanna move on and do something else than do it , don't beat your self up about it. WE ALL GONNA DIE ANYWAYS.
Wait is EVE actually toxic? Everything I’ve heard about EVE makes it sound like you need degrees physics and engineering to even hope to understand the endgame lmao
Isn't it ironic that madseason made a wow classic video pre release, rating the community in the top 10 things to look forward to in classic, and then post release he says its one of the worst things about classic?
Genuine question, why is personal loot a bad thing? It seems to me in a 40 man raid, in a system that isn't personalized, and instead everyone has to share a pool, that is an objectively worse system. I'm sorry, but I refuse to dedicate my time to a raid if I'm not actually getting something for that time. Completely open to explanation here, as I am a relatively recent convert to WoW, and I'd like to know how veteran players see the issue.
I don't really even play WoW but I believe it has something to do with randomization of abilities on gear. It seems to be exceptionally difficult to actually get upgrades from the personalized system, let alone even tell if something is an upgrade. The old style loot had predetermined stats on gear so you could focus on getting certain pieces of gear, or the raid group itself would work with you to distribute gear to you or those who actually needed it. This is from an outside perspective and I am likely wrong here. I just figured I could at least try to answer your question cause nobody else has replied xD.
7:20 only if u are willing to invest the time necessary to come to that lvl. asmongold got huge amounts of time on hes hands to game because he is a streamer. and the truth is that i would call him mediocre..... the really good pvp players are mainly single, middle aged,8/hd factory workers. u can not have a IRL life and play wow properly.
Once I started raiding and doing real pvp in TBC and was actually halfway decent at the game I started hunting people on my server on my rogue. The horde pop on our server was 2-3 times larger than the ally, so we would get camped relentlessly while leveling and now I finally had a way to fight back. I would fly in and drop off the mount in stealth, and shadowstep down to the person on the ground like some kind of spec ops soldier, at least that’s how I thought of myself. Then I’d camp them until they brought in too many friends. I had a whole folder just for the screenshots of the messages these people sent me. The rage was incredible. At that time I only had that one account so I couldn’t hop to a horde character to talk shit. It was so much fun to see a horde camping some ally trying to level in HFP, only for me to fly in and start camping them back. It was glorious and hilarious.
It's just like warmode for US and EU, 8.0.3 (pre-patch and patch) Horde gloated, they were so good. Camped my body for 5 hours till 5am... Then 8.1 gave us the bloated reward for killing 25 people just once, not even 30 minutes later the forums were full with Horde who were reguarly camping Boralus even and every FP Alliance reguarly used complaining how we were ruining the game. So they ruining our game for 3 motnths was oke, but the moment they got camped. I loved getting whispers from how this wasn't far PvP, 5+ vs me solo was fair? Short story short, they only wanna win. I gave up on WM now and never been happier, 30% bonus... it's just not going down. I want people not 18.18% extra gold. 8.0.3 warmode made a master at avoiding Horde, sniping mobs, hiding and escaping on a NE DH though. Even farmed Horde slayer that way (the salty messages were beyond great). Hey they camped me even in the Boralus inn, so yeah no regrets.

I feel like this is either a US problem, or big-server problem. I've been playing classic since launch on a EU PvP-server. I don't think I've ever had an argument with anyone tbh. There are some idiots I guess, but I just ignore them. I have a lot of friends on the server, our guilds work together and help eachother. I don't know if its cuz im officer in one of the best guilds on the server, if Im getting special treatment. But when people talk about the toxic envoirment of classic, I have no idea what they're talking about tbh.
the PvP salt reminds me of a guy me & my brother used to play PvP with in guild wars 2. he blocked so many people in game that he'd frequently complain about how he ran out of space on his block list.
The thing with classic is that you can't realy mesure someone's performance adequately. Parses are a joke because they rely heavily on your gear, world buffs and fight length. And there are no arena or bg rating. So how do you even know that he sucks?
@@sadfasdfasdfasdfasdf16 right so you measure it based on the guild they are in, like every time I see someone that raids with the best guild on the server I always am like wow this guy must be good
I'm confused. I didn't raid I'm classic but I don't understand the world buff problem. On one hand people say classic is too easy and on the other people bitch about world buffs. Are world buffs necessary or is it just a bunch of hard asses that require everything min/maxed?
I played at release till the end of BC, my guild was a super-chill and fun and also somewhat competitive. I still remember our guild master and vice master so wasted and drunk that they took best enchanting mats in our guild banks which we gathered for AQ40 enchanted their lvl 1 daggers and gears then dueled at front of Ironforge. Drunk, RPing, yelling, but couldn't line up and hit each other because they were randomly circling around. (dwarf priest and gnome mage) people watching was laughing their ass off while class leaders betting which one get the first hit or not. Even with this bullshits, pure dps-hunger lineups, pom-pyro pulls and causing faction wars in every goddamn raid because our rogue class leader couldn't hold himself and gank horde guildmaster in front of raidzones. We got first C'thun clear in our server. Never used world buff meta because we're too lazy for it. Downside was, i played nearly all available mmo-mmorpgs but couldn't get hooked any guild or clan because of my past experiences. What a beautiful days they were.
It's exactly why I will never touch WoW again. It's a virtual psychiatric prison from which you yourself don't want to be freed from. Though, I had a nice, creepy tour of it for a few months xD
I don't know where people get this idea that world buffs make WoW Classic easier. Just about *any* mechanic that will 1 shot you for not paying attention will still 1 shot you with world buffs. World buffs make *some* mechanics more forgiving, very few, and apart from that it just makes raids faster. That's it. But I do hate them and can't wait to not have to worry about them at all anymore in BC.
In league u can just mute all or ignore, in wow even if it is toxic pm it yell and tell and gold spammers there too much to ignore and u dont want to switch chat off completely.
I got the charger back in actual vanilla. My guildies helped me run that place so much, that when we weren’t raiding, we were running that damned dungeon. Fond memories....
I helped my hunter friend get his cloak from baron. We started in nostalrius, moved to elysium, then rerolled on lights hope while running strat atleast once a day. Then classic came out. I saw 5 mounts before we finally got his cloak in classic after BWL released…. I wish I was making this shit up. Oh and of course I didn’t win a single one of the mounts…..
@@preds43 The class balance may be far worse than retail but the class design is so much better, class design in retail is probably the worst of all time. Shape430 I’m sure it did, classic is full of kids. How many adults you think actually watch classic streamers that have dumb face emotes and do literally content anyone can do and get cheers for it?
That whole theory that anyone who talks about being "good" or "tough", isn't actually good or tough, is fundamentally flawed. There are just as many people that suck and are quiet, and just as many people that are loud mouthed and good. The theory sounds good on paper but it's a fairy-tale stereotype that people choose to believe because it brings a sense of justice and security to people that get wrecked by someone that's both loud, and good. Or maybe because it lends some legitimacy to the quiet ones being good by default. Who knows. Either way, it's wishful thinking by anyone who thinks it's that simple.
The distinction is between trash talk to throw someone off they're game and actively being toxic BECAUSE you lost. We've all gotten angry because some weird shit happened that made us lose where we would have won and it's not an issue if you say something. The problem is thinking ALL losses are just luck and not trying to understand what you could have done better. If someone beats me and talks shit about how much I suck, there's not really much of an argument I can make against that besides beating them. If someone is saying I suck and they've never beaten me, they're just being toxic because the can't take an L. World of difference.
A typical smash player will still rage when they lose. It dont stop at 10, some of the most creative insults I've heard were from playing smash w college buddies
you never wasted you time if you had fun. you only get talked into wanting more from the outside, like comments from family or firends that you should want more. but they are all just chasing a blueprint of a live that somebody said is desirable and no one asks: why if im happy with what i do right now?
the retail community consists of logging in, queing for a dungeon/lfr, joining, healers sucking, or vis versa, tank sucking, causing argumetns, causing shit talking, causing quitters lol
i block after msging people, not because i'm fragile, but because most people want the last say or feel the need to respond and it riles them up so good xD

The worse thing about classic is trying to get back into it once they have released further raids than MC and Onyxia. Gotta grit your teeth to catchup while 60s gank you for the fuck of it in every zones from lv30 upwards and most of the community on your own faction is either already 60 not giving af about lower lvls and/or min maxing their leveling to 60. The worse thing about Classic, is that it's an horrid experience for new players and a meatgrinder for those who know what they're doing but have to catch up.
Everyone should get their own personal loot and then maybe a couple pieces that can be handed out . Sharing 3-4 items for an entire raid is just ridiculous.
20:41 I don't think the idea of world buffs is bad. The amount of world buffs, the power of them and the time it takes to get them, makes them bad in classic. Having just one/few world buffs or raid specific world buffs that are not that time consuming would fix that. Also let them persist through death.
An rpg, be it mmo or not, is inheritely a singleplayer experience because you only play for the advancement of your character, you don't really pay 15 bucks a month to help Billy with his Dead Mines run.
i like how he lists all these requierements for retail raiding making it sound like its a lot but it literally sums up as ''just play the game and youre good''
Yea for the most part, like play the game since the start like any rpg and you are good, what is annoying for me it is alt unfriendly but exept that. Its realy just play the game, i dont think any other rpg have an easy way to catch up if you made it late ...
This one time when I died with about 0.01 seconds left in WSG, I went full screaming turbo-nerd and hit my push-to-talk button on accident...out of habit. That was embarrassing.
You can't reproduce playing a Game for the first time (Unless you lose all your memory because of an accident or sickness). And replaying it but "this time i'm better!" is one of the worst mistakes when it comes to MMORPGs. This may work with single player games since you got full control of everything, maybe even learn some glitches or trying to speedrun. But for Games like WoW you should do the opposite: Find people who clearly see that they already know stuff, don't fall for BiS items and all that Bullshit. Maybe even try doing Raids without any Buffs, challenge yourselfs. Every Guild i joined in classic was pretty much just giving out Loot to Mages, Rogues and Warrior Tanks. And not rolling on items for Weeks as Elemental Shaman sucked. I had fun with my Class and it was something different then i played decades ago on the original Classic. All i wanted to do is have some fun with People :(
Last night on Darkspear a resto shaman got lambasted by a ret pally for asking for help on a rare, was told to just solo it. The gamer community just ain't shit anymore. Edit: Talking about retail, not any better than classic at all in my experience.
Who actually feels bad for a ninja looter tho, no matter what happens? Its not other peoples fault u grew up w fucked up parents or poor and survival mentality. Dont take it on others. Couldnt care less what happens to them
I speed run DMN for fun on my hunter. I don’t know why it’s fun, just is. And I’m always trying to get faster and better. I guess the logic is the same in MC for some people. Each to their own.
Don't forget the people who spend all day trying to dispel the world buffs of others, naked corpse hopping to the enemy faction's inn as a priest just to dispel a tank, or grouping up at a flight path or somewhere else just to dispel. Two sides of the same shit coin.
I don't like the cross-realm zones on retail... I'm on a high pop realm but I rarely see people from my realm in the open world and mostly people from other realms.
If you want friends in retail, discord is the way. That's where most people socialize. To be fair, when I'm farming some shit or leveling, I don't want to speak with some random dude
this sort of anger is common in any multiplayer game...halo, CS, madden, etc...to say its just 'classic andys' isnt fair and tbh, the classic community isnt much worse than the vanilla community...which was seen as the absolute worst until league of legends came around
tbc had world buffs too but they were way less powerful than in classic you can rather see them as a cherry on top of your consumables rather than a 50 to 60% performance increase as is the case for some classes in classic.
Asmongold keeping me in Classic for sure after rattling off all the shit for retail again, lol. My classic guild requires zero buffs for raiding. They request we bring our own pots and elixirs if we're capable of doing so, but no flasks required either. We do our class buffs when we get in the raid and taadaa, you're ready to roll. Since we all want to do well, and want the guild to progress well, we do what we can to bring appropriate consumes and to get world buffs if we're able, but that's individual above-and-beyond effort.
As a noob who just started and is a prot paladin who has to captain the group the dungeon wipes its my fault even though the dps couldnt keep up or healer is worse then me lmao i love it im going through the same process everyone else did but nothing like being harassed for being a noob all day friggin long by the same dude lol hate being a noob
Any guild that doesn't use EPGP loot system deserves loot drama. I ran this for my guild and I literally cannot recall a single issue of loot drama. Ever. Of course I would have removed you in 3 seconds had you caused drama, but that's neither here nor there.
Had a paladin who disliked me for reasons he never bothered to share send his girlfriend into a dungeon i was tanking to sabotage the run and blame it on my tanking skills, she blurted it out in anger at the end.
I don't understand why people farm world buffs like crazy in classic these days. Back in vanilla we didn't need those to finish raids any faster or anything? Why would you spend hours to farm buffs that is equal to finishing a raid without them anyway? The nonsense elitism culture has grown way beyond proportion and wow classic is most likely the worst example of it in gaming right now.

Good point. I never thought about it like that but you're right.
One reason, if not the main reason. I did the ranking as Horde and I felt toxic towards Alliance premades at times but never to the extent of creating a new toon and sending hate messages. I can see how others would do it though.
and in retail you just need to stack corruption
The problema is that, at the core Vanilla is was supposed to ben an MMO RPG game, and RPG are not supposed to be competitive PVP games, the PVE is the core of RPG balance since pen and papper.
Asmon: "Wow, who are these people?!"
His chat: "Ummm.... >_>"

Exactly same as me dude. Love playing casual now
At least classic has a community. Also you don't have to tryhard WoW classic at all.
itemlvl 410? bro you can get a higher itemlevel than that even without dungeons and raids, and im a casual myself, been playing for 3 weeks now and am at ilvl 439 or something

Why didn’t you drink the flask tho?
My friend didn't know about the world buff cooldown when he won a ony head drop in a pug, he dropped it and got death threats for 2 days
I think that's a Snuggie, not a housecoat, effectively a blanket with arm holes
It's a robe, he unboxed it yesterday on his Vlog channel

It's true. We expected it to be great and it's cancer
5:35 Wouldn't people abuse this system simply because they thought you were bad or for whatever other reason?
Hey they camped me even in the Boralus inn, so yeah no regrets.
just want to see what happens to the world when the internet isnt anonymous for just 1 week...would everything end or would trolls stop trolling because they cant hide **wondering**
I really wished someone in asmon's raids would ninja loot any of the items he desires the most, then we'd see how similar to those who wish death upon ninja looters he is even tho he makes it sound as he wouldn't be
He may not personally do that cringe shit, but if you take his Twitch viewers into account...
I got Rivendare's Deathcharger, I really lucked out and got it on a random leveling run of Strath.
I finally got my girlfriend to play classic and she went into wailing caverns and was told to kill herself by 3 out of the 4 people in the dungeon.
'the community is the best part of classic wow"
I would love them to make Classic+ servers with some changes, such as world buff lockouts.
Personal loot is much better in Blizzards eyes than people getting mad and death threats over fake video game items.
EU is just as bad.
I think toxic people are drawn to other toxic people. if you are nice and not a toxic player, you wont have any arguments

@@sadfasdfasdfasdfasdf16 right so you measure it based on the guild they are in, like every time I see someone that raids with the best guild on the server I always am like wow this guy must be good

I totally agree. It's just how ego works.

This may work with single player games since you got full control of everything, maybe even learn some glitches or trying to speedrun.
But for Games like WoW you should do the opposite:
Find people who clearly see that they already know stuff, don't fall for BiS items and all that Bullshit.
Maybe even try doing Raids without any Buffs, challenge yourselfs.
