Very cool list! I love these kinds of top tens. They give me ideas for my next read. I just ordered Ordinary Grace.
@@johnnyg287 let’s go!! Thanks for watching
DCC is incredible, honestly!! Fantastic and absurdly entertaining
Totally agreed!
Subbed just with the mention of your number one. I read that on my honeymoon in 2002 and read it again 2 years ago. It held up as a favorite for me as well!
Thank you so much!! It’s the bangeriest of bangers
The Name of the wind is the only book i've ever really wanted to read again just to delve into that world with Kvothe again. Def top 5.
@@Uraharatix facts!
A great list! I'm here to vote for Suneater to be pushed to the top of your TBR! 🙃
Thanks for hanging out and it’s getting started today!
@ hell yeah 👍
Robert McCammon is my favorite writer of all time. The first adult book I bought (at thirteen) was Stinger. Swan Song will always have a special place in my heart. When I was a kid, my parents would sometimes read the same book. My first suggestion (at fourteen) was Swan Song. My mother read a lot of romances. My dad read mostly Westerns. They both devoured Swan Song. It made me feel so grown up to choose a book that my parents loved so much. I read Boy's Life on my last vacation with the family---sitting in the back of the car feeling those last moments of childhood (even though I was technically an adult) and appreciating that one last trip as a boy so much more because of that book.
@@brandon5080 it’s magical!!!
Great picks by the way-throwing a lot on my radar and really making me want to get to mccammon sometime very soon
You gotta! Especially if you love coming of age 💪🏼
Oh, if Chance is here, I know I'm in good company! :)
@@TedReadInstead chance is the dude!!
This is a 🔥🔥🔥 list I love all of these. Gonna have to subscribe based on how closely our tastes align
@@evandavis3678 let’s go! Thanks for the support!
I got Ordinary Grace over Christmas and am really looking forward to it! (A couple more of these are on my TBR too.)
Let’s gooo!
Nice top 10! My wife has recommended that I read Ordinary Grace. You’ve convinced me to move it up my TBR list.
@@bradelliott6208 thanks man! Thanks for watching and let me know what you think of it!
I'm a sucker for coming of age....I was so relieved at the end, I watched the whole video thinking "What about Boy's Life?!?"
Yessssss!!!
Great list!!! I’ve read and loved MOST of these, so the few I haven’t are going right on my TBR.
Let’s go! Which ones haven’t you read?
But I gotta ask… knowing your love for coming of age… have you read Demon Copperhead? I also have a massive love for, and am drawn to coming of age stories, and this one completely blew me away. It changed my dna. It lives in my head rent free, as the kids say. A stunning novel. Big recommendation.
@ I haven’t!!! Adding to the goodreads list now!!!
@@PreacherReadsyay! Try to go in blind, if you can. I think the only ones from your list I haven’t read are the Dan Simmons book, and the Will of the Many. I have the will of the many on my shelf and I keep putting it off each month. Oh, and the monster calls one.. I also own it, but I’m avoiding looking my own grief in the face and I know that book will make me feel things lol.. avoidance.
Starting The Will of the Many tonight. Just finished 11/22/63. LOVED it. will add the McCammon. Think I have very similar taste and thanks for the new adds to the old TBR.
@@jbliss6393let’s gooooooo lemme know what you think
You can always always always trust a guy in a Pittsburgh Pirates jersey. You know he isn’t working an angle. And I have Boy’s Life on my shelf, but you just moved it up my TBR. I’m gonna try to read it before the Pirates home opener (which I plan on attending).

Hi mate, I’ve never read Robert Mccammon before so look forward to reading boys life! Great list and just subscribed. Have you read any other books in the first law world or just the first trilogy?
@@tommymills1668 hey thanks for watching and supporting! I am currently on A Little Hatred 😎💪🏼
@ enjoy!
Im glad I found another Christian that embraces Christian liberty. I was so tired of feeling “icky and sinful” when I read something that was faith based. Reading certain things is apart of my legalistic mindset that I just can’t shake. And I hate that.
@@Twiceborn_by_grace yep! I say always be willing to hear from God about our liberties and always be self-reflective on whether those things are helping or hindering our walk, but if those boxes are being checked, enjoy what you enjoy!
@ This was so encouraging! #JakeAndSadie
Some of my favorite books of all time. The Lies of Locke Lamora, 11/22/63, Dungeon Crawler Carl (all good, but the first book and discovering the humor makes it my favorite), Before They are Hanged, The Well of Ascension, Words of Radiance.
My all-time favorite book is Lonesome Dove.
@@jamespeck7849 bunch of bangers!
100th Like! New Subscriber! Just found you today! Love your videos! (That I’ve watched so far) I have many of these books on my TBR and in my hand as we speak, can’t wait to dive in!
Let’s goo! You gotta let me know what you think!
@ 100% will!
Lightbringer was amazing, Red Rising is amazing. Great list, I’ve put a couple on my TBR :)
@@lewisb.3242 let’s go! Which ones?!
Let me tell you why you're wrong...
I can't 😂 Awesome list brother! All of these are either ones I loved or ones I want to read!!! Keep cookin', my dude! 🔥
Thanks my man 💪🏼 just trying to be half as cool as BBB 😎
@PreacherReads Hahaha you are too kind, brother! You surpass my cool factor pretty easily🤣 You ooze charisma my friend!
Already have Ordinary Grace and Boy's Life on my TBR for this year thanks to you and Reformed Reader. Is it the titular character from Lightbringer that was your favorite? I was really happy with Lightbringer, especially because I thought books 4 and 5 were some of the weaker in the series.
Have you read through the whole of the Ender Quartet or the Shadow Quartet? The original quartet is good, although the books get more and more "heavy sci-fi" as they go and deal more and more in the philosophical...the Shadow Quartet follows the life of Bean after Ender's Game and is a lot more action oriented. I recommend them all. The Shadow series is a very quick read.
Thanks to you and Mike, I have already added a couple of King novels to my TBR. I tried to listen to Gunslinger a few years back and couldn't get into it, but I don't think I was in the right headspace for it. Otherwise, I haven't read King. 11/22/63 is definitely up there on the list, but should I start there, or with The Stand? Or with Green Mile? There are too many good books to read!
Thanks for commenting!
My favorite character is the Goodman or all goodman
I think you should try The Green Mile first! Little shorter, and a little more straightforward but you can’t go wrong with any of those!
there was a lot I hadn't even heard of before, and then a few I love, so a good mix. I do wish you'd scoot a bit to yer left and set the book up on that shelf so we could see the book the whole time yer talking, tho, lol
@@eliotopian I’ll take that into consideration thanks!!
Top 5 for me right now are Kings of the Wyld, Jade City, Hunger of the Gods, The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook, and Promise of Blood
As a Dallas native I feel like I need to read 11/22/63
@@theclassy4 dungeon crawler Carl!!!
@ I’ve got 3 hours left in the audiobook of book 4. It’s almost certainly replacing book 3 in my top 5. I feel like they keep getting better
@ baller series
So having never read any King (except for The Running Man) would you recommend reading that one first? (It’s on my daughter’s bookshelves)
I’d say that, The Green Mile, or Pet Semetary!
I will have to do a re-read of The Will of the Many before The Strength of the Few comes out.

Hey Preacher, just discovered your channel - and of course I subscribed. I'm an older guy and will turn 75 this month and I'm pretty new to these BookTube channels. I saw another Christian guy recommend "Boy's Life" on his channel and I found out that my son has ordered it for me. Could you please give me the names of 2 or 3 channels off the top of your head that you would recommend that are run by Christians. I would really appreciate it. Much respect to you from Larry.
@@dab505279 of course!!! The Reformed Reader and Geaux Read Books!
I hope you enjoy Boys Life and thanks for the support!
@PreacherReads No way! I am subscribed to both of those guys. In fact I have communicated with Reformed Reader about Boy's Life. He told me that I was going to love it. Anyway, I'm glad that I found your channel, so keep up the good work.

@ 😂😂😂 that’s awesome
Serious question, if I did not enjoy Name of the Wind and DNF it at around 150 pages am I going to get into the Sun Eater series? I bought the first 4 books not knowing the writing was influenced by NOTW lol. Currently reading Hyperion which kind of has that first person POV but I’m enjoying it
@@ChristisLord99 probably depends on what you didnt like about NotW! It definitely has some prose similarities
@@PreacherReads for me NOTW was very slow paced and it’s not something I was expecting, also wasn’t a massive fan of Kvothe so I don’t think that helped either lol. I may give it another crack sometime in the future depending on how I go with the sun eater series
@@ChristisLord99 give Sun Eater a go!
I wouldn't compare Hyperion (or book 2 of the Cantos) to Empire of Silence really at all. If anything, Empire of Silence / Suneater is more like Endymion (book 3 of the Cantos) or its sequel.
Demon in White will be in your top 10 after you read it.
I can’t wait!
Halfway through the video and if Boy’s Life doesn’t show up I’ll be shocked
Final thoughts? 🤣
U might really like the book calculating god by robert sawyer.
@@secretsauceofstorycraft goodreadsing it now!
You have to incorporate women authors in your repertoire. You’re missing out on half of the planets human’s stories. Also some lit in translation.
Hello! I have read and am reading consistently many female authors, thanks! Some of the books in my best of 2024 list were women and non-western authors 👌
Curios if you read the brothers karamozov?
I havent!!
@ well if you are ever interested in a classic book. It’s decent, but very slow. Just asking because I’m assuming you’re a Christian and it’s a book that makes you stop and think about faith. I don’t recommend it as a FUN exciting read yet it does have some exciting moments.
@ will check it out!
Any female authors close to breaking that top 10?
@@TimmoUK no I’ve never read a female author before *this is sarcasm*
Piranesi was close. Blood Over Bright Haven was great. You was very memorable. Harry Potter was super formative for me.
Did everybody already read the Dune books ? Hahaha
Don’t tell anyone but I’ve never read dune
