there was one scene in this game I found legitimately funny, just after mr detective dies and become a ghost he tries to get back inside his body, even able to wriggle his fingers a little. before the serial killer notices and finishes the job.
"I'm alive! I'm alive! Wait...no...forget what I said...these are just death spasms...totally normal..."
"well I never said I wasn't a hypocrite..." XD LMFAO I lost it after that lol.
+lunerlilly When he did get married then?
He still ain't, but does have a misses
An American, no less.
His girlfriend is American?
Oros Abaddon yeah, he moved to America as well.
I'm surprised video game publishers haven't banded together to put out a hit on Yahtzee.
I guess Valve (the Portal 1 developers in particular) have hired some bodyguards for him.
Dark Souls was another game he didn't shit on. The devs for that must provide the munition
That is such a stupid idea. After all, it'd take less effort to actually do their jobs right....actually, now that I think about it, that seems about as logical as anything else they'd do.
i think devs should listen to people like yahtzee more, ofcourse, hes a little picky. but he has a point. on every video, on every game. he has a point
I like how he reviews games. I might personally love a game then watch a yahtzee review of it, then I have a whole new insight of that game.
You know what would have been cool for this game to have? A scene where your ghost character had figured out the crime or gotten a lead or something, but the police still hadn't figured it out; so you have to use your ghost powers to help a cop busy piecing together the evidence to figure it out.
Ah the Detective Conan approach
_"Unlike a man who wears a fedora and vest somehow managed to convince someone to marry him without choking on their own vomit during the vows._
_Well, I never said I _*_wasn't_*_ a hypocrite._"
This is so ironic as he is now wed and a father....life is so weird
@@CxMegaMan Ah yes but according to his own word he stopped wearing a fedora ages ago.
@@killerbee2562 "it's not a fedora it's a trilbi..!"
@@killerbee2562 mostly because people kept recognising him, if I recall.
This becomes even more amusing now that he’s married. Seriously, Yahtzee, you are the gift that keeps on giving.
Irony
But he also doesn't wear that garbage anymore, so maybe it increased his odds of surviving the ceremony with his shoes unscathed.
how's your back yahtzee? it must hurt from carrying the escapist
+conner scotti I know, right? I keep thinking the same thing, especially since The Escapist cancels all they're other good series, like Unskippable and Unforgotten Realms. Zero Punctuation is to The Escapist what The Simpsons is to Fox, complete with tons of yellow and a channel that cancels all its really good content.
+Arthas Menethil Still waiting on Season 2 of Uncivil War!!!
+awsomewe360 It's not happening. Jim Sterling left The Escapist and I don't think he's eager to partner up with them again.
+Arthas Menethil Except the show didn't go to shot after the first five seasons or so.
Fox Holmes go to shot?
I sometimes get the geeling Yahtzee just opens a dictionary on random pages and picks words at random to inude in his videos. I love these vids so much
Like what words..?
Like the words he uses to make analogies
Adrellisartar Novalrus inude?
getup2k I wrote the comment via my phone, so made a few typo's ;P I meant to write include
Or maybe he just has a large vocabulary of words and knows how to use them.
Though compared to most people in the world (and approximately 100% of youtube commentators) it does seem far-fetched for ANYBODY to have a vocabulary larger than 10 words.
Lol oh wow, I loled at the hat and vest then you showed your pic.. didnt see it coming
I don't know why but somehow I knew it was coming. Which was a shame because I'm most likely the only one who couldn't enjoy the joke as much as everyone else.
NameNoMatter No, I'm getting sick of the fedora jokes too.
It used to be baseball caps, same joke different hat. I propose balding men switch to those droopy bucket hats, like the one Gilligan wore, then judgmental (insert genitalia of choice here) will be begging for the return of fedoras... or maybe even baseball caps...
I never understood the fedora hate either. I mean, does everyone think Indiana Jones is a neckbearded, pretentious nerd? And vests? They're the one thing Francis from Left 4 Dead doesn't hate. No one doubts his badassery, right?
NameNoMatter I saw it coming too. Mostly because I know how he looks like in real life.
Well, there IS a difference between a fedora and a trilby.
2:47
How can I picture Yahtzee having that happen to him perfectly...
"Hey mister"
"Oh, hi"
"I like your hat"
"Thanks..."
"can I have it"
*"where the fuck are your parents"*
Airtight closed today.
Another middle sized developer bites the dust.
And another one gone, and another one gone...
Another one bites the dust.
hey, I'm gonna get you too, another one bites the dust
***** I wish EA was dust
And another one gone and another gone! Another one bites tha dust!
That bit at the end was gold. The drawn out silence when the photo shows up followed by "I never said I wasn't a hypocrite" cracked me up.
When in doubt, blame Woolie and Liam.
It won't let me give you four likes. Laughed out loud. That game is so spazzy it becomes funny.
or illumaniti
The illuminati did not turn this promising game into a half-arsed mess. It was Jay Z. Jay Z hates witches, and noir.
I haven't even played this game
I'd bet a backie on my bike that Woolie and Liam didn't either
As Kamen Rider W showed us, a fedora is fine as long as you pair it with appropriate clothing. Just don't wear it with a T-shirt. A vest is fine.
Yahtzee has a trillby though, which is (imo) more appropriate to modern fashion.
Technodreamer Shotaro and Philip they be Stylin!!!!
Strider Zero
They're the two in one detective!
Technodreamer Funny how I was thinking about how much I'd rather be Shotaro solving crimes in Fuuto than the miserable bumblefuck we were assigned to be here. I'd also take Philip over that walking pile of boredom partner we had a thousand times over.
***** Oh dear lord not one of these people...
Have to say, that Dresden Files reference made my day.
Same. I love that book seris
Agree completely!
Yeah, it was just really random. I thought of it a split second before he mentioned it.
my life could be over, and i would be perfectly content if they made an actual movie about the books. the tv series didn't do it the justice those books deserve. one of my favorite series.
Funny enough, I'm on my 5th re-read of the series, and just finished Changes...
This is one of the reasons I love Yahtzee, the scenario he described to make a point. The one with a two year old child trying to engage you in a doctors surgery with a TV tuned to fox news is wonderful.
2:03 That's how I feel about Watch Dogs, a game revolving around hacking where the best way to complete missions is to... kill everyone with guns and only use said hacking for puzzles. Combat mechanics really need to be shoved into everything these days, don't they!?
Ghost Trick is a Freaking Amaaaaazing Game
I only came back to point out that Yahtzee did eventually convince someone to marry him
"combat mechanics!!! combat mechanics!!!"
I rented this game from Redbox and played it over the weekend... well, on Saturday afternoon. Like 6 hours even including all the side mysteries which were the only things standing between the game as a whole and the "interactive storytelling" tag.
I think it would've worked better as a movie.
OI!!! The fedora-and-vest combo is a timeless classic, and everybody likes it. "But, what about-" *EVERYBODY!!!!!!*
Love the ending XD
Pretty sick burn!
DRESDEN FILES GOT MENTIONED!! WOOOOOOOO!
That guys hat is amazing
WAIT! You read the Dresden Files?! *halellujiah chorus plays* Dude like just...you have just made my day!
Jim Butcher's Ghost Stories is "that one Dresden Files book". Great story too. Yay getting a reference!
I have been watching these videos since 2 years ago and I still absolutely love them!
"well I never said I wasn't a hypocrite" Lmao
Bahaha that ending!
yeah, even 5 years later, i think this is my favourite episode of ZP.
@@shnacallanan2656 especially now that he's actually married. So that's fun!
@@kylejscheffler Yup! That's part of the reason I love it so much! Haha, Not to mention they're having a kid as well! :)
0:47 That line works in every lengthy conversation XD
Kudos for mentioning the Dresden Files.
That marrying joke at the end has got to be one of the series' high points, and well, that's saying a lot.
Firstly, Ghost Trick was a good game and lots of fun to play (IMHO), and secondly, that ending gave me a fit of laughter. Well done.
HEY, other than the title Ghost trick was a good game. Well i liked it at least.
Same here, high five buddy!
He never said that Ghost Trick was bad.
He just said the title of the game was bad as in "it could have had a better name but its still a good game" kind of sense
The other part that made this one feel "Phoned in" is when you do bother to wonder the area finding every little side story item to get the gruesome murder story it's all VO and one still with whispy smoke around it. I quit listening and started questioning what else I could have done with the 1hr I spent trying to complete the side quest.
It was weird seeing the picture of Yahtzee because I associate that voice with that drawing of in a fedora, and it was weird to imagine that voice coming from a real person.
I literally cheered when Yahtzee referenced Ghost Story. :D Love both the DF and ZP!
Randall and Hopkirk! Man that was the best :D
Surprisingly this uploads the same day the developer's company shuts down.
>Dresden Files mentioned
>Swell with excitement.
I was just happy about the TWEWY mention.
You forgot to add Shadow of Memories to the pile of games that already used the "solve your own murder" theme. But instead of ghosts, it was time travel.
How is the wife and kids these days?
"Ghost wedgie" Omg XDD
Did anyone else's eyebrow shoot into orbit when you find that one ghost girl and you start to watch her murder and Blandy McBland goes, "Wait, this is your murder! You shouldn't have to watch this!"?
Does anyone remember an old flash game like this? You talked to a bunch of ghosts, one was a really tall, slender, weird red one at the library? It was point and click and I really want to play it over again.
Ghost Trick is one of the few games I'd give 10/10 for
It is pretty amazing.
Despite the awful name, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is pretty awesome. It's got the same problem as Phoenix Wright games in that the "quirky" characters make you want to reach inside the screen and throttle them within seconds of having met them. But also like Phoenix Wright, the story is absolutely sublime, very engaging, and makes you want to keep playing.
I don't know why because I never find them particularly great, but I want games like this and Still Life to keep getting made. Sometimes I just want one.
I thought I was the only one who read the Dresden Files. God Bless you Yahtzee
"I fu**ing hate children! I hated being a child and damn being a fu**ing parent!* - Yahtzee Croshaw, an inspiration to journalists dverywhere!
For some reason, I really love the fact that you mentioned The Dresden Files. I hope that means you read/like them. xD;;
That ending was magnificent.
Surprised there wasn’t anything about Geist at the beginning, but I guess it would’ve been too easy
i just love that Twewy reference in the beginning
Honestly, god-damned near every job can be breezed into as long as you know the right guy.
Holy crap, I was beginning to think I was the only one that read the Dresden Files.
Seconds after he explained the premis of the game i thought of The Dresden Files: Ghost Story, and then he references it. yay!
I got really excited when he referenced Ghost Story (Dresden Files) :D
fun fact:
Gaberone being the capital of Botswana was a joke Yahtzee used in an earlier video
Darkest of Days, to be precise!
2:12 lucky you can turn off the combat mechanics (on pc) but editing the text document in its game folder and turn the reapers ai off so they basically can’t see you.
Is this cheating? It depends on who you ask, ied calling fixing a dumb idea the devs had.
i dint played this game yet but a ghost and a girl working together to solve murder cases....THIS GAME RIPPED OFF THE BLACKWELL LEGACY!!
DAMMIT! I JUST SAID THAT! D:
Pheoniz
watch?v=loF8Q15b2-I
Magus
BRB killing self in disgrace.
I actually checked out Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) about an hour ago - the first episode with Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. It's pretty funny.
OH MY GOD YOU READ DRESDEN FILES!?!?!?!?!?! I LOVE YOU EVEN MORE NOW! Also cool video.
Love that Poiroit is here :D
Thumbs up for Jim Butcher reference ^^
I don't know why but that clown part made me laugh a lot.
Ok, that was the best joke you've ever said.
Holy shit Yahtzee referenced the Dresden Files! My life is complete.
that fucking closing statement haha, so good
Speaking of ghost trick would love to see you review ghost trick soul suspect
I'm hungry.... How about a burger with some Mustard: Soul Sauce?
This game almost has the plot of the entire blackwell series
Did his 'henchmen' just sass him at the end?
I remember the trailer being badass
"Well I never said I wasn't a hypocrite". That's a perfect rebuttal to most of your critics, isn't it?
I don't think Yahtzee is capable of sitting through even his own wedding. It seems like it he would also want to avoid lieing during the vows
Does this mean ur married
he is single
Yahtzee is single
single like a solo slice of craft singles cheese.
Hawkeye Gough oh thanks
Yahtzee is single and he better remain like that, not like there are any women out there worth the millionth part of a shit.
He didn't mention how original the concept would be if not for "Geist". I'm sure Geist also did this concept.
Quantum Conundrum was actually a fun puzzle game that Yahtzee didn't like because he played it on the PC. The solution is just play it on a console.
behind an owl.... that is how I hide from ghosts
If you run the audio for multiple Yahtzee reviews at the same time, a migraine will split your skull
Yay go dresden. One of the coolest book series out there.
COMBAT MECHANICS COMBAT MECHANICS
I just finished the game with the final remark being "MEDIOCRE!". Thanks Yahtzee for recognizing all I recognized... well, maybe except for the winy dead people.
he mentioned Dresden files! yaay
My goodness, only now do I realize he's been wearing a hat this entire time!
Lol that end.
I agree with the Demons.
I feel like they only tacked them on at the last minute out of some unspoken obligation for every single mainstream game to have combat mechanics.
Oh Yhatzee, never change.
Murdered *HURK* Soul Suspect, how did i miss this video?!
the ending killed me
the fedora and vest combo; forever the ugly step child of fashion
which is tragic for the poor things, because it used to be loved in days gone by. but isn't now, because reasons.... i don't really pay attention to what's trendy and what isn't. i just notice some people say "this looks dumb on people" and jsut kind of go "kay. guess i won't be wearing that then"
hopefully for me, hoodies and video game/comic t shirts don't end up that way. otherwise im fucked. pretty much my entire wardrobe
Yahtzee reads the Dresden Files? Awesome!
This is classic Yahtzee.
Well it's either this or Super Dungeon Bros next month. Since I have no friends, I'll go with this.
genius as always.
Ghost Trick was a fun game. I enjoyed it a lot.
there is a good ideal for a game here. how about a game where you play as a poltergeist in a series of horror movie like settings where you have to find creative ways to either kill people using the environment or save a group of people using the environment and you have multiple ways to do such and the different ways you do things controls how the story flows.
