I've been looking for a wrap company that will actually respond to their emails and/calls. I'm going to give these guys a call! Thank you for this video! Subbed.
Annoying stuff, sorry you're going through that. My friend who bought this wrap, has had great luck with these guys.
His customer service is fantastic!!! Highly recommend jammin Sam!!!
Precision responds the best IMHO
Sam has called me personally when I requested a quote. I highly recommend his customer service. From what I understand, he sources the same Delmar wrap that my local drum shop used. I can say good things about Precision, too: they returned my quote within 24 hours and had my wrap out the door less than a day later.
Way to help a brother out Mike. ♫♪♫ Cheers!
👍👍👍
This is a super helpful video.Done well.
Glad it was helpful!
I used JS for my chrome recovering job. Worked very well! Loved the results!
Good to hear!
What did you have done? Your old hardware renewed? Thanks!!!
No, I bought the chrome drum covering from Jammin Sam. Rewrapped my old faded drum shells with chrome. Turned out really nice
@@eriklund784 I see now - I've seen that and the gold on his site they look really nice
I am looking at doing the black galaxy wrap but I want to see if I can get a sample sent first (hard to tell what colors are in the sparkles in the wrap from the photo)
Did you notice any changes in the resonance of the shell?
i'm getting some BDP from Jammin Sam's for the 2 Rogers i'm doing. you make it look easy. thanks mike!
Yeah, if you take time to set you layout up and do plenty of checking before actual adhering it down, I think it’s quite simple.
Great wrap job, did you put the seams under the lugs?
Yea, at least for the first under layer, but really close to the on top layer as well
nice job guys
Thanks Bruce, excited to share our project we worked on in the coming weeks!
I'm really itching to rewrap my gretsch Catalina Maple kit because it an ugly scratched up burgundy color but it sounds really good. I have a 10, 12,14,16,22 (no matching snare). I want to use the 10 and 14 floor with an old Japanese 20 in kick I have as a small "jazz" kit (I don't play jazz 😁) maybe wrapping them in a different color than the full size. Unfortunately for my i like glitters qnd sparkles with is always way more expensive. Do you remember how much it cost your friend to wrap this kick? Maybe i can start with one drum at a time 🤔🤔
I don't know the exact specific cost of this wrap in the video, as I didn't buy it, but I'd imagine you can just go to the website and get clear pricing for each wrap you'd need buy. Typically companies like this are very clear and transparent with pricing.
@@malonedrum thanks 👍.
Great video! Super helpful. Question. I liked that you used tape instead of glue. Did you tape all along the edges too? Or just at the seams? Wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. And is there a tape brand that you would recommend? Thanks!
That was a tape included from Jammin’ Sam drum wraps so I can’t help with the specific tape, you’d have to reach out to them.
What they provided was tape just for the seams running vertically up the depth of the shell. I’d personally like a little more than that, and I’d like to do the horizontal perimeter bears the bearing edges, but we did it by JS’s recommendations/instructions this time.
Thanks! That was helpful. Did that drum have a wrap on it? Hard to tell. Couldn’t tell if that was just wood. I’ve heard some people have put a wrap over a wrap, and others have removed the original wrap. What are your suggestions? I’m new to this drum wrapping business. 😂 Thanks!
@@thejohngoodwinshow7869 It was a paint prior to that, I wouldn't do wrap over wrap, the shell might get too thick.
@@malonedrum Thanks! I’m converting a 26’ Yamaha marching bass drum to a kit drum. White wrap to blue oyster. Grateful for your input.
I did a set of Pearl masters custom maple 2 years ago, with vintage white marine pearl, I was quite unpleasantly shocked at the price of the wrap, it cost more than the drums, which I bought 2nd hand. I attached it with contact cement, which is very difficult because you have only one chance to line it up perfectly, once the wrap touches the drum, it sticks and there's no moving it. Anyways, I did a 22 inch bass drum, 8, 10,12,14,16 inch toms, and soon I'm going to do an 18 inch floortom. Being in Canada, and buying the wrap from Precision drum co. in NY, I had to pay $1.37 for every dollar US, plus shipping, plus brokerage fees, but I couldn't find that white marine pearl wrap in Canada.
Yeah, internationally I'd imagine it's even more or a burden financially to do. It's not cost effective but it can really look great and be done at a high quality.
Hey Mike, Do you think their bond tape is reliable for the long term? will be there no bubbles, weird bumps or lifting from the shell?
Thank you.
I honestly can’t speak to it aside from this one drum, but I know this drum is still fine.
I used a large roll of self adhesive vinyl.
That's certainly one way to go!
Great job I would of left it og it looked cool
I love the ducco, but the goal in this case was to make it match the existing toms in silver sparkle so it could be taken it out for gigs. But yeah, that ducco is pretty cool.
@@malonedrum ya I hear ya I’ve done the same lol I think it would of been cool having the ducco with the silver stripe and then silver sparkle Tom’s.
@@dye182 I LOVE that idea
What's your opinion of the wrap quality vs Precision Drum Co? I'm in the market for wrap. Great video! Cheers from Seattle
I think both companies make professional quality wraps, you’d probably just need to factor price and color to make your decision. Good wraps are not cheap.
This is 2 years late, but both brands glass glitter is the exact same wrap, assume they use the same manufacturer. I have sheets of teal glass glitter from both companies & they’re 100% identical.
@@alexf8578I believe the main difference is Precision suggests glue while JS goes with the high bond tape option.
I'm about to do a snare drum. wish me luck.
Good luck!
It's not widely recommended to use tape just on ends I believe. It's either water-based adhesive or full shell double sided tape! There's been some horror stories about wrap lifting in areas or warping around.
This was just what was recommend from Jammin Sam’s for their wraps
@@malonedrum It will work, and I have used this method before, but if you take the drum out into direct sunlight it is prone to blister or lift. Also no good on older uneven shell surfaces.
the hardest part for me was getting the badge back on , i cant find anything the right size to go through the badge and shell without drilling the badge hole bigger so currently no badge on my kit atm
Yeah, most brands it’s do-able, but just not always easy
So from what I watched you overlap the wrap with the previous piece? You don’t butt the seams?
Most wraps I've seen have a slight overlap instead of a butt joint.
Wait so the wrap comes in sections instead of one piece?
Only for a bass drum of large size, you can’t get a wrap long enough to reach around an entire 24” bass drum.
Heyy, i’m from indonesia. Where can i get those wrap drum? Please answer
You could check their website and see if they ship internationally.
