Cherry Bomb® Vortex vs. Cherry Bomb® Salute - Sound Comparison - 5.3L Chevy
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 жов 2019
- This video compares the sound of the Cherry Bomb® Vortex muffler and the Cherry Bomb® Salute muffler. How will the sound compare? Will they sound the same? Will they sound different? You be the judge. I do a series of revs, accelerations, decelerations and one long uphill acceleration to record the "drone" sound inside of the cab of the truck and come to a conclusion.
Let me know in the comment section below which you think sounds rowdy or refined on my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 with the 5.3L LM7 V8.

Just a side note: I am not sponsored by Cherry Bomb. I purchased the mufflers with my own money. I like the product as well as the price. I'm not saying I wouldn't mind having a Cherry Bomb sponsorship though... @cherrybombexh hit me up! LOL.

The fuel pump needs a muffler
Sid Walker you ain’t kidding. The thing whines worse than a 3yr old in Walmart. 😂
Love the vortex because i have one on my truck. It's a very aggressive sound but surprisingly, i have no obnoxious drone in the cabin. Awesome thing is i got the vortex because of your videos. Thank you dan for putting out the content you give to us, plus the fun jokes in the beginning of every video lol.
That's awesome! I appreciate it. Thank you!
God your fuel pump is louder than both of them :P
Glad to see that rig is still around!
This is the best damn comparison video that I have came across... sound comparisons from every angle and different RPM ranges..! Thanks for this ... you have helped me make up my mind!! Just earned a new subscriber!
Glad the vid helped you out.
I’ve ran a VORTEX on an 02 Buick Century V6 with an after market replacement Cat for years. Has a mean deep bark. Not harsh at all, but fairly loud. On a scale of Zero to “What Can A Guy Get Away With”, in neighborhood life. It’s right up there. Any louder and I could see it possibly bothering some neighbors. I’ve lived different places and no one’s ever paid much attention to it, it seems, except one guy said, “I can always tell it’s you, That has a nice growl.” I just bought a V6 Explorer and now want a similar sound, but a bit quieter. It’s 304 HP, so just want to be able to hear a touch of that power in the exhaust, but only barely hear it in the cab. Considering Salute or Turbo. Thanks for the great vids man.
I've never sighed so hard in my life at that intro....I love it!
Pynkie well crafted dad jokes have that effect. 😂👍
I think I like the Salute with the air holes in the truck bed the most. Lol great comparison video!
Well done and informative, thanks. Strong work sir.
I'm looking for a muffler, I am now pretty much sold on the Salute, thanks for the video!
Awesome 👍
Great video, I know which one I want now. Thanks, Man.
Hey Dan. I'm new to your channel as I am looking for new mufflers for my 77 Square Body project i'm featuring on my channel. Thanks for all the comparisons!
What's up the Daninator. Great video man 👍. I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla with a and my neighbors hate me when I leave for work at night and come home early in the morning. I have a round bullet muffler on there and is too loud for my hearing for everyday driving. I ordered a Cherry Bomb Salute oval muffler offset offset 2.25/2.25 and going to pair it with a Vibrant performance exhaust tip 304 stainless steel angle cut double walled 2.25 inlet to 4 inch outlet. I also have an AEM dry flow performance air filter and replaced my stock resonator with a Vibrant performance resonator 304 stainless steel 12 inch bottle style 2.25 inlet/2.25 outlet. I know the Cherry Bomb Salute muffler will make my car alot better to drive on an everyday basis without getting a massive headache everytime I drive and having my ears hurt it will still sound great as well. I have had many mufflers on this 2015 Toyota Corolla trying to find the best overall sound for the car for everyday driving but overall I prefer the mufflers that have the stock look to them but have that deep sound and when you step on it you here it and when you drive normal you barely here anything when you drive like almost having no drone. I don't want to get a headache or have my ears hurting like what's happening with me now when I drive with my current round muffler. As soon as the muffler and exhaust tip get here I'm going to the exhaust shop asap. I'm like your videos alot of great content man 👍. Keep making great videos man 👍. The Cherry Bomb Salute muffler is going to give my car a great deep tone and going to save my ears and best part I won't get headaches everytime I drive anymore which is great 👍
I myself have the vortex on my gmc sierra dually and sounds great behind the 454
Just here to see the rust
😂
You're an odd duck, as my dad would say. LOL!
hey dan, i have a 06’ impala ss with the ls4 5.3L and i have a no cats, a downpipe and no res or mufflers. i want to quiet it down but have it somewhat loud when i step on it. would the vortex muffler help with what i’m looking for?? or should i probably add a resonator too? help is needed! thanks in advance
When I was putting muffler on my 05 sequoia I really didn't have damn clue what I would do. So, I ran it with straight pipes for a week to get a good idea of what it might need. I went with the vortex because it really is like something between a magnaflow and a flowmaster. Flowmasters I think are better for loudness, but the best would be the cherry bomb extreme. I picked the vortex because it seems to muffle the sound perfectly enough that it's not obnoxiously loud, but you still get to hear the real sound of the engine without the hideous bark. Would I put something different on it now? Probably, like the extreme, but for the sake of the sound being reasonable, the vortex is a great alternative for somebody who can't choose between a flowmasters or a glasspack.
Awesome comparison video. I’ve decided to go with the Salute on my 4.0 liter Tacoma V-6, I hope it sounds good on a V-6. If my boss, I mean wife doesn’t like it, can I blame you?😊
LOL! Yes, you can blame me.
how did it sound on your rig
Rudy Martinez I like it. No drone at highway cruise. It is louder in the cab on acceleration, but not objectionable to me. Sounds nice outside when accelerating or cruising by. Not overly loud, but mellower than some of the others I’ve heard. I went with their largest Salute muffler with 3” inlet/outlet.
Salute!
For me, it's basically a wash as to which muffler I'd pick. Both sound decent. In your case though, I'd recommend sticking to the Salute... at least it won't rust. XD
Markus R. Haha! You’re right about that! 😂👍
3:04 your truck has the classic electronic whining I hear from worn out Chevy trucks. But still a great video!
Fuel pump noise. Classic Chevy whine
@@joelstevensz06 yeah i suspected something like that. I heard that when i was a little kid and never knew it was the fuel pump whining.
Exactly! Classic Chevy fuel pump on its last leg!
Hey daninator, I was just wondering if you still have the catalytic converter installed in all these videos you make. I have a 2003 ram 1500 5.9l and I would like to just open up a little bit more of that deep sound and especially the idle sound, while still remaining PA legal. I’m thinking about doing a glass pack muffler swap
Yes, cats still on.
Hey buddy, a few years back I did an exhaust job on a 2003 Ram. My buddy and I ditched the cat and the computer went haywire. Truck drove like a mile with dementia. Before to get a hi-flow cat to keep the O2 sensors happy.
Salute sounds much better. Like a high quality modern muffler. No different than a magnaflow/borla straight through. Surprising from a $35 muffler.
I wonder do CB make the vortex for fourth gen RAM with dual exhaust? If they do I definitely want one for my 2012 1500 5.7 HEMI. By the way this vortex sounds better on the 5.7 vortec Chevy.
Can you give me the part number to the vortex muffler?? Thanks
The salute seems to have good sound but reasonable baffling. I’m looking for rumble without ear damage on my daily driver.
I've been looking at the Vortex....
What size vortex for 4.8?
Vortex for sure 👍
Do you think you can start doing other brands/kinds of mufflers like Flowmaster, Thrush, Gibson?
(My fav ones of the three are... for flowmaster the Super 44s and super 10s, for Thrush The Welded (chambered), and for Gibson the MWA
I have considered it. We'll see what the budget holds.
@@TheDaninator makes since...... the thrush welded muffeler I believe isn't that pricy last I knew
If you're considering another brand, check out the Hooker Aerochamber. It's a chambered style muffler, sort of, but a straight through style also. Has a nice deep sound, smooth and doesn't drone like a Flowmaster. Their Max Flow muffler is good too.
Should also try the Jones Max Flow, and Jones Flowpack (similar to the Cherry Bomb M80). The Jones Resonator is a good quality part as well, can be used as a muffler.
just dumb question, which side is Outlet and Inllet ? the maker dont mark it , and i have both 3inch diameter. THX
The vortex and salute are both universal flow direction. Doesn’t matter which way you put them on. 👍
@@TheDaninator thx man ;)
Must be race horses 🤣. That shirt though.
Chemical Spore who doesn’t love a well crafted dad joke? Besides my wife and kids 😂👍
@@TheDaninator anyone whos not dead? lol
the 44 year old me would choose the salute. the 18 year old me would choose the vortex because he just doesn’t give a f@&$.
Get a salute dumping behind the axle and a cutout that leads to a side pipe.
Cute kid. I got two daughters of my own. A son would be nice, too, but I wouldn’t trade being hero to my daughters for anything.
Are you gonna fix the rest
You ever get obd codes after changing to these mufflers.
Muffler don’t affect emissions at all, so you won’t have to worry about any codes swapping mufflers out. If you remove your catalytic converters on a modern vehicle you will get OBD codes.
I’m first in line to watch.
Vortex or m-80?
Does the vortex not drone like they claim it doesn't?
Every muffler I've ever put on my trucks have droned. Some worse than others, but they've all done it.
@@TheDaninator what is the lowest drone muffler you've tested? the extreme?
Thanks Dan for doing this video, no one else is doing these cherry BOMB comparisons. And your the reason I found the salute! You said in your previous video that it was to quite. Well long story short I end up purchasing it and 1 month almost exactly after it was installed I think the fiberglass packing finally settled and it's actually louder than day 1. I'm in love with this Muffler I'll send you my Instagram link you can check it out see what you think!? Thanks again for these great videos. instagram.com/p/B19YhOMDI6D/?igshid=15xvhztlnc0xw

Personally, I think Cherry Bomb is often overlooked and underrated. Great sound for the money.
I definitely agree with you. And I didn't even consider them till I saw your plethora videos on them. So thanks again keep up the great editing
Hooks it to a fucking GM truck cant hear the exhuast of the fucking fuel pump classic GM
