    You know,
    1. The first hidden blade was indeed made by Darius and the mechanism was by pulling a string tied to his palm. And after that, hidden blade was not used for a long time.
    2. Bayek later on modified the blade by tying a string to his ring finger so that it can only work by twitching the ring finger and this mechanism was used till Altair changed it.
    3. Eivor's method of using hidden blade is very similar to how Darius used his hidden blade.
    4. Altair's modifications were exclusive to him during his time and later on passed down to other assassins after his death. But some assassns like the Spanish brotherhood still sacrificed the ring finger even Altair modified the blade.
    5. One of Ezio's recruits uses an early prototype of phantom blade which was made by Leonardo because Ezio didn't allow him the hidden gun as he was just an apprentice.
    6. Edward's modification of hidden blades was risky as these hidden blade can be activated by small muscle movement, and can even take the owner's life if he/she is not careful.
    7. Connor's pivot blade is actually exclusive to him. The one Aveline uses is an error because AC liberation uses the same engine as AC3.

  • @limnakama
    @limnakama Рік тому +201

AC3 honestly feels like its version makes the most sense. No hook or grapple gimmicks, just allowing the hidden blade to be wielded like a dagger.
A lot of hidden blade gimmicks are centered around the environment or time period which is fine, but the pivot blade feels like it should have become more permanent.

Also the mechanism system of all those gimmicky blades, guns or crossbows feels pretty impossible to work in real settings.

    • @gibleyman
      @gibleyman 7 місяців тому +6

Yea, the other ones with their unique features always seem too fantastical even if it fits the aesthetic.
For example, there's no way the phantom blade without the poison can be as effective as it is nor be durable enough for long term use. The range would also be quite bad and no way would it build up enough speed to kill a man instantly.
The grappling hook from AC Syndicate is... well, I don't think I need to explain how unrealistic and unreliable it is.
Edward's blade being activated by flicking of the wrist actually sounds like a very useful alternative to a string. But activating it by twitching a specific muscle not only sounds impossible, but also so impractical and dangerous.
Hook blade actually sounds quite doable and also has many uses as shown in Revelation, but I can't help but question how the mechanism can reliably retract and extend a rather big hook that likely has quite a bit of weight considering it has to be as durable as possible.
The hidden gun, despite being one of the coolest would probably explode on your wrist after like maybe 2 shots if you're lucky and would also not be very good for your palm.

I do agree with what you said about his evolution in the side missions though. That would be pretty cool.
-Regular: Purely for assassination, but gets a good damage multiplier when performing assassinations.
-Pivot: More offensive. Less damage for assassination but more when attacking regularly.
-Crossbow: More damage the farther away the target is, and has the advantage that it's harder for enemies to pinpoint your location. (they will look around but won't necessarily go to where you were when making the kill.)
-Dual: A hybrid between regular and pivot. Less damage bonus on either, but still a damage bonus for both.
-Poison dart: Barely does damage, but allows you to put one of several different poisons on it. (Berserk, sleep, damage over time, etc)
-Hook blade: Less damage for assassonation, but makes parkour faster and allows for such things as ziplines to be used.

I think the reason why all those cool features from Ezio's AC Trilogy were removed was that it gave introduction to new tools like the Poison darts, berserk darts, rope darts, etc. If the hidden blade had everything, the player wouldn't have the entire challenge of saving resources like ammos. I haven't played any AC earlier than Connor's yet, and one might still require to save ammos and buy ammunition or loot them in Altair's and Ezio's. But, still, my point being the reduced Hidden Blade features was for the introduction of other tools, which are obtainable through the storylines of Connor's through etc... Like - both Connor and Edward became assassins without the assassin initiation ritual, so their Hidden blade was much simpler and they still had to obtain tools through progressing further in their lives. As of Shay - the game had no excuse and he should have better Hidden blades than Edward's, but, it was just Black Flag re-skin so it was understandable. Then, later, the cool hidden blade features returned with Arno - because then he formally met the Assassins and was initiated formally right into it. So, to sum up, I think the cool HB features were removed for plot purposes. Just what I think - might got it wrong, tho

I'd love if that's truly the case here. But knowing Ubisoft, my best bet is that they're just lazy. My second bet is that they want to make sth new each time -> it's not working the way a portion of the fans want -> instead of trying to improve the existing mechanics, they scrap the whole thing and move on to the next idea (it's kinda similar to how they dumb down the parkour mechanics instead of trying to improve it)

Well looting in ac2 is easy. The drop rate is different from specific enemies and extremely high. Don't need to loot all of em. Just captain, brutes and agile. It's gave more than enough that the rate for drop are significantly are lower in revelation onwards. In this game u can discipline to loot less, since passive income is very easy in this game u don't need lot of resources. Infact looting is just an addiction in ac2 since it's so tempting with rewards lol
But in ac 3 if u somehow enjoy the accounting side missions, and gets a horse satchel, u can replenish easily by calling ur horse and loot the bags the horse carry.

No wait forgetting something, in AC Syndicate there is also a kind of dart shoot similar to that of AC Brotherhood, but better, it shoots farther, more shots in succession, it has the same poison of the "Fury", and in addition if you shoot it on a heat source like a lit fire, it turns into a cloud and simultaneously poisons everyone in the air, allowing the poisoning of several persagli at once.
Also forget the AC Chronicles Trilogy (China, India and Russia), in China, the protagonist Shao Jun has a simple blade classic of the time of Ezio, but in the boot / shoe, which uses assassins makes them combining this particular combination blade-martial arts, the game does not allow you to know anything else. The blade hidden on Shao Jun's foot was also used in France by a Templar in 1700.
In India, the protagonist has a particular blade, from the game we can not know much besides the fact that he uses it in the style of the Indian brotherhood, but what we know we know from the menu, where in the voice of the blade we know that the protagonist has a particular "trident blade", which once in use can be divided into 3 separate blades in a similar way to a trident.
The hidden blade of the assassin Arbaaz Mir (Chronicles India) was built on the model of a katara: the blade was able to separate into three thinner ones, becoming precisely as I explained before in the shape of a trident.
In Russia, the protagonist does not have particular new blades, but a classic hidden blade with the improved mechanism, the peculiarity, however, is that he does not use it much, he prefers to assassinate enemies using his rifle.
And then, there are other peculiarities to know: The phantom blade of Unity was designed by the French brotherhood, through Leonardo's old projects on a phantom "Crossbow Blade", which was commissioned by Ezio to replace the hidden Pistol, so that the less experienced adepts had something that acted as a surrogate, in fact the hidden Crossbow, being less strong than the pistol, it was good for novices, where the concealed pistol requires more skill to be used.
The idea of the Crossbow Blade was exploited for the first time for the assassin, Francesco Vecellio. Later Ezio provided the concealed guns to the sufficiently trained adepts, however, this version was less strong requiring more bullets to kill a guard, Also Ezio during the stay in Rome, manages to use the gun without having to manually pull the trigger.
Obviously The Ghost Blade, refers to Leonardo's projects on the Crossbow, but makes significant improvements, resulting superior.
The mechanism of the Hidden crossbow is very similar to that of poisoned darts, except that the hidden crossbows had a longer range. The Egyptian assassin Numa Al'Khamsin of the 14th century uses a golden blade instead of steel. Although there had already been technical improvements to the blade, the Spanish brotherhood in the Renaissance, prefers to remain anchored to tradition and use the old obsolete models thus having to amputate the ring finger. During the Reconquista, the Spanish assassin María used a variant of the Hidden Blade which consisted of two thinner blades placed next to each other. In addition to this modification, the weapon functioned similarly to the traditional Hidden Blade. Its model, as a two-pointed hidden blade, was later adopted in the 21st century as the basis for the electric blade.
Over the centuries, many Templars tried to replicate the hidden blade of the Assassins. The first time it happened was at the beginning of the sixteenth century, in Rome: the Templars Fiora Cavazza and Baltasar de Silva tried to create an agent, The Wolf similar to the Assassins, and equipped him with a blade similar to the hidden blade: divided into two parts, the blade met to allow The Wolf to strike. Lia de Russo also had a kind of hidden blade: unlike that of the Wolf, the mechanism seemed similar to that of the Assassins, but it was worn above the arm, not below, a similar thing was also done by Eivor. Even the first blade invented by the proto-assassin Darius was carried by himself above the forearm and not below as would happen in the following centuries.
In the modern age, these variants of hidden blades were used:
-Electric blade. The electric blade is a type of hidden blade used during the 21st century, replacing the traditional steel blade with two parallel blades. At the moment of penetration into the meat of the target, it generates an electric arc, electrocuting the target and internally cauterizing the wound. In 2015, some Assassins were equipped with this new type of weapon. Shaun Hastings used one in particular to ambush and assassinate high Templar Isabelle Ardant in London in 2015.
-Composite blade. In order to infiltrate high-security areas, the composite blade was designed to be disassembled and reassembled easily, with most of the separate components resembling everyday objects, such as a belt buckle, a mobile phone case, a pen and the blade itself. Callum Lynch and a small group of Assassins infiltrated the meeting of the Council of Templar Elders at Holborn Hall in London, assembling the blade in a secluded area of the building;Callum used the Composite Blade to cut the throat of Grandmaster Alan Rikkin before claiming Aguilar's Apple of Eden.
-Razor-Wire Blade. In 2017; Saeko Mochizuki, the Mentor of the Japanese Brotherhood, sent a new gauntlet to Kiyoshi Takakura while he was on a mission abroad, the Razor-Wire Blade. Kiyoshi used his new gauntlet in Spain, against two Instruments who were holding him, severing their limbs.
Several variations of the blade have also been created, both from enemies and not, both in the past and in the present.
    Curiosity:
-One of Ezio's first concept art shows him holding three Hidden Blades: one on the right, and two on the left.
-In Assassin's Creed: Renaissance (the game's official book), Ezio's second Hidden Blade is described as a weapon with two blades, according to the initial concept.
-The second Hidden Blade is slightly longer than the primary one in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, perhaps designed to be a more effective combat weapon.
-Concept art of Martin Deschambault's Hidden Blade for Assassin's Creed II features three updates not implemented in the Hidden Blade: a retractable blade-shaped arrow, a trident-tipped blade to parry blows and disarm enemies, and a variation with the feather-shaped Hidden Blade.
-In early concept art for Assassin's Creed III; rope darts were integrated onto the Hidden Blade's bracer, envisioned as the "Chain Blade". This concept was later modified to be closer to reality, resulting in the "Chain Blade" being scrapped for a more reasonable alternative. This ultimately developed into a grappling hook for the Hidden Blade in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate used by the twins Evie and Jacob Frye. However, in Assassin's Creed Templars Volume 1: Black Cross, a similar weapon is used by the Black Cross Albert Bolden.
-The hooked blade hook, from AC Revelation is an extra support for the right blade similar to the supports of the left one such as the poisoned blade and the hidden gun, so the hooked blade is not a new blade, but two individual pieces that act separately.
-In the E3 teaser trailer for Assassin's Creed; as in some concept art, Altaïr can be seen pressing a button to operate his Hidden Blade. In the game, however, there was no button or other activation mechanism.
-In the Assassin's Creed: Renaissance and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood novel, unleashing the Hidden Blade required the use of a button, via a certain muscle on the forearm being flexed. The same mechanism also triggered the Hidden Gun when Ezio's thumb is pushed to the left.
-In Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade(official book of the first game), the trigger mechanism is depicted as a ring worn around a pinky finger. Movement of that finger causes the blade to extend or retract.
-The closest novel adaptation of the Hidden Blade to the in-game version appears in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, wherein Edward Kenway stated he had activated the blade by the tensing of a muscle that comes from the upper arm as well as the forearm, and a simultaneous flick of the wrist. This is much unlike the ring-triggered or button mechanisms as mentioned in previous novels, thus more like the in-game Hidden Blade. However; this mechanism comes with the dangerous risk of accidentally activating the Hidden Blade while flicking the wrist unintentionally, which can result in the death of a person or the wielder themselves. This is acknowledged in Assassin's Creed: Underworld(official book of AC Syindacate and Chronicles India of which he makes an interlude), where, at one point, Ethan Frye rests his chin on his left hand while wearing a Hidden Blade, with the blade itself less than an inch from his throat.
-Bayek's Hidden Blade may be different as his amputated ring finger has a leather cover which is connected to the Hidden Blade itself via a string (and the bracer via leather patching), which when pulled, extends or retracts the blade, matching the description as mentioned in The Secret Crusade. The string is also significantly long enough so as to not be pulled by accident.
For this Extra information, in addition to what I remember from the games I played, I also consulted the page on the Hidden Blade of the AC Wiki, in English, the Italian version is obsolete and not updated. Named: Assassin's Creed wiki Fandom.
My knowledge of English is not very good, I used mostly the Google translator to translate, I apologize in advance to those who read this comment, in case you find difficulties due to a wrong translation, I know that many have complained from this point of view.

Personal comment for AC Odyssey: I personally didn't mind that there wasn't a Hidden Blade, of course it's coherent with the plot, but above all you use, grip and power up one of the most powerful Fruit of Eden or Isu Artifacts, it's really cool, in previous titles the use of these artifacts is really limited, here you indulge as much as you can, so I really liked it.
Personal comment for AC Valhalla: In this AC instead the return of the Hidden Blade made me disgusting, very useless, in reality the title was one of the few AC chapters that I hated the most, it has some positive aspects, but a lot negative in comparison, plus it's pretty boring.

@@FiglioDegliDei idk how you prefer Odyssey to Valhalla. Not that Valhalla is a good AC game, but seriously, does Odyssey even have a plot? Nothing in that game makes sense (as Assassins Creed). It's just about running for hours and hours, doing nothing but stupid generic quests. And in the end it gives you nothing.

    • @FiglioDegliDei

@@sam1_2_1 Well for starters: he argues that "in AC nothing makes sense", that thrown there so it seems like bullshit and that's it, bullshit and that's it.
According to people's tastes, one cannot quibble too much.
Third, oh no! In Odyssey there are so many activities to do (even if they can be repetitive to some, but it's a common problem of RPGs), you just need to know how to find them.
Fourth to answer your question, well of Odyssey actually the non-existent plot in the middle left that bad taste in my mouth, but otherwise I loved everything, the exploration, the ancient greek context, the skills, the upgrades, in short the free play I enjoyed it a lot, on the other hand Valhalla bored me a lot, excessively long story that could have been concluded with a quarter of the total hours for the most salient points, the rest is thrown in the middle just to annoy and get bored, I didn't like the setting, I love Vikings but I would have preferred more northern lands to England, finally the free play bored me a lot, overly long, repetitive and boring, 3 kinds of side activities and that's it repeated endlessly, power up poor character and with several limits, silly skills, in short, the sooner I finished it the better, luckily they didn't add the NG+ otherwise I wouldn't do it. I have very high expectations for Mirage, as it should return to its former glory.

I really like that in Valhalla you wear the blade on the outside of your wrist. It makes more sense to me considering you’re a Viking and stealth wasn’t exactly a strategy they’d use. Also the assassinations being you basically punching them with the blade works well for the same reason, Vikings were brutal fighters so a Viking assassin not being particularly graceful with their assassinations makes sense.

something i noticed with the hidden blade which makes it impractical to use irl is how much easier it could break compare to a normal dagger cuz of the moving parts and the how quickly the blade would corrode since u gotta clean the blood off along with the moving parts (idk how accurate i am with my assumptions)

I knew it felt wierd when i was playing black flag. I often use the 4 pistols, blow dart, and twin sabres even on assasination missions.
The smoke bomb and hidden blades were relegated to thier ac2 uses in black flag.
    Still an awesome game!!

Something that irks me about the hidden blade is the fact that it’s hidden as an act of concealment so you can be inconspicuous but in every assassins creed you’re pretty much armed to the teeth. It’d be cool if you had the option to lose all the gear and just have a hidden blade and other tools. It’d appeal to that assassin fantasy a little more

  • @ASSASINE0
    @ASSASINE0 8 місяців тому +2

I wish they would focus more on the Hidden Blade again, like they did in Brotherhood, where you actually had progress regarding it. There are so many great tools that have been added to it over time, that it would be cool if there was a game that made the hidden blade customizable, for example you can choose what tools are inside it but you are also limited to those. You want the grappling hook? Well you cant have the gun, you want the pivoting Blade? No hookblade for you and so on and maybe even more to improof. Give the Game options by what is traversible due to your choices and change the stealth approach and the combat by that too. I dont know, this could be my uneducated ass having an opinion, but i think having a wider choice of tools regarding the main tool gives also a bit a replay value.
