Yep, she’s a beast and has a nasty reputation for being tough to travel on (I concur)! 3000 Kms further down from where I was she’s huge. It’s the longest river in the North American continent with a history just as long. Cheers mate!!!🇳🇿🇺🇸
The first four hours were quite nice! The next four were a bugger! The wind blew us ashore but unfortunately it was the south shore and I needed to be on the north shore! The wind finally let up and Mimi and I made Ft. Mandan an hour later. Cheers mate!!!
Sure glad I made that test run and test it was! I made it to camp but I didn’t get all my gear off the river and into camp until 12:30AM. More later mate, cheers!!!
On the contrary mate! The weather made it a true test! Plus, I needed to find out if I’m up for the challenge. By the time we finally made it to Ft. Mandan (9:30 PM) and all the gear was in camp (12:30 AM) my hip was telling me it was time to stop. I certainly was sore the next day but not too bad today. I think I’m good for it. Cheers!!!
I love that river! You seemed to be going up to the power station and back from the power station, big Dakota storms on the Missouri - you’re living the dream right there brother. Is Mimi still talking to you or has is she giving you the silent treatment? Looking forward to the next instalment, as ever!
The Missouri has a reputation for being tough to travel for a reason! It’s from the wind and weather mostly (now have 1st hand experience) but it’s very twisty and lots of sandbars and a far few deadhead logs. Mimi was a total trooper! When we got into the thunderstorms she found a place to hide and I covered her with a tarp. She rode like that for about four hours. We both were damn glad to finally make Ft. Mandan!!! More later mate, Cheers!!!
Man, that was a REAL test run for sure and for certain! I trust that you are fair and well and ready for the next one. Take care Compadre!

Dang sure was mate and I’m dang sure glad I did it! Still pretty sore but man that was exciting! More later mate, Cheers!
Man that is one big river! Must be some incredible history associated with that river. Thanks for sharing 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

Weather sure put a damper on things. And all this with a new hip. Feeling ok? Safe travels friend.

I only passed that power station once but it’s visible for miles.
And…it was the most fun I’ve had since the pigs ate my little brother!!!
