She looked at Jeff's horse at the end like "Oh! I didn't know I could lay down and take a nap." I gotta say I'm really impressed with this mare. Not only is she crazy quiet, she thinks and tries hard. You are doing a great job at not pushing her to fast. I ride and show mostly hunt seat and this western saddle is great. I don't feel trapped in it. The fenders move easily, and it is close contact. The seat is flatter too. I have no problems posting in it. I can really feel the horses sides. It is also only $500. www.sstack.com/double-s-running-w-roughout-work-saddle/p/41046/
Not only do I love this mare and how awesome you are doing with her but I LOVE how you were willing to step out of your comfort zone to do what you thought was right for her.
Just binged the entire week, waiting eagerly for tomorrow. She reminds me of a horse I used to ride: lazy, stubborn, and leaned into you. That was 15 years ago.... Penny taught me a lot.
I'm loving the series. I admire your commitment to learning as much as you can, even though you have already worked out ways of doing things that seem effective for the horse and comfortable for you. Your desire to learn is the opposite of lazy. Are you aware of the fact you have a special vocabulary not shared by most people? When you talk about her being "soft," the word means something to you it might not to other people. I think you called her "a little bracey," which is different. "Snorty." "High-headed." You have a vocabulary that has been shaped by your experience. If you were writing a book, I'd think of adding a glossary. But in the context of videos, most people can understand these things in context.
I’m no trainer, but I enjoy watching others train their horses. I’ve realized some mistakes I’ve made over the years. All in all consistency, and patience is a must no matter what! Thanks for taking us along for the journey. Greatly enjoy this channel💚
For all those who say riding horses is not a workout/exercise, need to watch your video! Major leg workout on this day! Appreciate how you seek to enhance and increase your knowledge and are creating so many wonderful training opportunities for this lovely mare. She is exquisite. Thanks for sharing!
I can't get over how awesome this mare is!! And you are just as awesome, I love watching you work these mustangs!👏👏👏 She is very intelligent and eager to please, which is going to make someone very happy to own her. Wish you would decide to keep her!! 🤗 I can tell she loves and respects you❤
I love how great Jeff was with having your mare yield her hindquarters from on top of his horse. He looks like an amazing trainer! Watching this was really magical. Seeing someone with so much experience makes me determined to try and be that good one day. Your mare is really great, I think you hit the jackpot with this one 😂 Edit: if you don't like holding the horn when you're up there with her you can probably just put your hands on your thighs and just hang out or you can hold the front of the saddle (or her mane)
Jeff is awesome! I would have been more normal if I had a leadrope/reins to hold onto... I’m used to just starting them alone so it was different for me!
What a rockstar crowd! Y’all are doing right by that mare and I cannot wait to see the final result! Also, thought it was so cute how at the end with her head down low she was watching the other horse lie down like, “you can do that with a human on?!”❤️
Very cool video, thank you! I also start all my horses english and feel much more comfortable in an english saddle. But now I pack horses in the wilderness and it is a skill to be able to switch between styles. Ponying horses for backcountry work is a little different, we never dally outside an arena but I liked the exercises you guys did and will have to work on them in the arena.
Definately loving this series and learning so much from it. She is absolutely amazing. I almost hope you keep her because she seems to really take to you for sure. She will make a great horse for anyone. So chill.
Great series joined by another really interesting episode. It is always wise to learn as many ways as possible for doing things; and usually there is no better person than someone with a lot of experience to help you. It keeps everything more interesting for you and your horse. And of course, horses and people all have slight differences so having more tools in your belt is just plain smart. I didn't watch all of your work with Rue, so maybe you ponied her too. But I would think that ponying would be another way to convey who is leading, and maybe from a bit safer position. Lucky, lucky mare to have someone so dedicated and wide-willing range to train her. Who ever ends up with this horse will be getting solid sensible horse with a lot of different experience under her belt already. Thank you so much for taking us along.
I wasn't aware of what PMU was until I googled that after seeing you had two horses from that rescue operation. Thanks for making me aware. I've been aware of Lynx and what a wonderful horse he has been for you from watching a number of your UA-cams. Thanks.
I love your videos! They’re so informative and it’s nice that you take the time to explain what you’re doing and why. Used a few of your methods on my own rescue horse lately and I’ve already seen huge improvements in her. 😊
Being "ambidextrous " in your riding style is a big plus for you as a trainer! So much good comes from it....and a good "seat" in any saddle is a winner!
I need to say this, because much people say western bits are disgusting and used very harsh. And I always say, if you use it correctly it’s a really nice tool. This is exactly what I mean. He is using it so softly and good the horse is trained and feels his little pressure and reacts to it. I think if I see this normal English bits are harsher the way most people use them. Western riders use their legs a lot and don’t rely on the bit like other riders do
am really enjoying this series! I love how you are open to new tack new ways of doing the training! Makes me really want to follow even more closely all that you do as a horse trainer! You go girl! oh I like that brown mustang!
This horse is amazingly chill. I love witnessing the progression. I learned to ride bareback, then western and then English. I prefer English myself too.
Thankyou Sam for this series of videos. Your knowledge and training abilities are amazing. I'm certainly learning lots as I have a youngster to bring on. Cheers Aussie Christine 😊🐴
So cool! Ponying is not really a skill that's taught in day to day horse life. I've done some basic ponying (just bringing horses in from the padock or going for a smal hack) but seeing it used as a real tool is very informative. If you do end up learning more about it I'd love to see more content :) thanks for sharing, you two are doing amazing.
It's Awesome to watch your videos you are such a talented and beautiful lady. I have been a horsehoer and trainer for awhile.and have had a few mustangs.they are amazing once you get their trust.. you do an awesome job. 😊
It's great watching good horse training, because there's a lot of bad horse training. You're great trainer Sam. How do you dismount without pulling something? I end up pulling my inner thigh muscle, I guess I'm just not flexible enough, so last time I went riding, I got off onto a wall just below my feet
Ah you went to my home city, Tucson? I thought it felt extra Mustang-y!😋 Love seeing how she’s developing- she has such a solid mind💚 Is Jeff training for this EMM too?
Sam VanFleet I thought it might have been his latest EMM... absolutely gorgeous! I remember he paced 5th, right? Super impressive horses at that emm - Incredible how much further Jeff’s horse has developed in the past six months.
Hey alot of racehorse babies are started in exercise saddles and they turn out ok . I like his place, what are the shades made of? Ya'll did a good job together. His pony is nice.
I would hate not having reins on the first ride! More power to you though, it’s always good to try new things and shows how much you and the horse trust each other. Also, his mustang looks SO BIG compared to her! Big ole boy, beautiful though. You can tell it’s not his first time ponying another horse 😂
I heard from an old rancher that you want to stand by her shoulder and grab the cinch with your left hand, so that you're not in the back legs' kick zone.
You are doing fabulous with her. I'm enjoying watching her transformation,. Thank you
I can’t with this mare she’s too good 🥺😍

I never clicked so fast!! Can't wait to see how she will turn out! You are an amazing trainer :)

I’m early- but this girly is so good! I can’t believe you were on so quick! Does she have a name yet?
🥳Congratulations🥳 on 50,000 subscribers!!

@@SamVanFleet That's fair lol. If you have nothing to hold, I guess just hold yourself or the horse lol
Definatly enjoying the series. I love this ponying part . so many horse and riders can benefit from this method.
What a rockstar crowd! Y’all are doing right by that mare and I cannot wait to see the final result! Also, thought it was so cute how at the end with her head down low she was watching the other horse lie down like, “you can do that with a human on?!”❤️

She did incredible! I love the ponying method it helps with so many areas.

I am really enjoying this series and your videos as a whole. You have a great way of explaining what you are doing in a clear manner. Nice job.
Western Nightlatch and a coiled lariat rope tied on are good handholds too!
God i am so in love with her. Such a great horse
I love your videos! They’re so informative and it’s nice that you take the time to explain what you’re doing and why. Used a few of your methods on my own rescue horse lately and I’ve already seen huge improvements in her. 😊
She's fab!
Delighted to see this video❤
This horse is just Amazing!!
Well done really nice video thanks.

Love jeff. He is an amazing trainer. That is who I got my horse from and he only had him for a short time but has an amazing foundation.
He’s great!

oh I like that brown mustang!
i LOVE this series SOOO much!!! its my favorite thing on youtube to watch and i watch a LOT of youtube
Physical activity much easy for them, its mental like walking through a pack dogs, cows, people. Crazy noises. Things. 😊👍🐎
Awesome first.
This horse is amazingly chill.
I love witnessing the progression.
I learned to ride bareback, then western and then English.
I prefer English myself too.
She is so smart she catches on so quick. it's time for a bridal now get her use to the bit lol good job by everyone can't wait for the next video
Wow I cant believe how good this mare is! She blows my mind every video😂
I thought that was Jeff in the thumbnail lol! I'm so impressed by this mare, she's so cool!
Thankyou Sam for this series of videos. Your knowledge and training abilities are amazing. I'm certainly learning lots as I have a youngster to bring on. Cheers Aussie Christine 😊🐴
She is doing fantastic, you can see she is a horse that will want to please her best friend... She will make someone an excellent horse...
She's progressing along so nicely.
You are doing great.
Fab series!!!

Absolutely enjoying this series. 👍🏽
Hi Sam--I'm loving this series! She's a sweetheart--I can't wait to see how she turns out!
Yes I'm enjoying this immensely!
Am watching this beautiful training horse
I believe in the ponyprocess
She looks really good in western tack
I need this mare in my life... I think I’ve said that on every video!
2nd! And she is still so amazing like always😊 love you both!
You should get a synthetic western saddle. It weighs about the same if not less than an English saddle.
It's Awesome to watch your videos you are such a talented and beautiful lady.
I have been a horsehoer and trainer for awhile.and have had a few mustangs.they are amazing once you get their trust.. you do an awesome job. 😊
Jeff’s horse is gorgeous!
Not first but can’t wait to watch the queen
2nd 😁
Great job!👍
I love this mare. She has the same disposition that my TWH mare does.
Great session! Nice to learn more about ponying! Your mare is coming along super!
She’s doing great 😁
Awesome job! Have you ridden her bareback yet? I have missed some of the "Days". You're great. Love watching you and Camille.
Great job Sam! I'm so excited for you both. Thank you for explaining everything you do and why u do it. Love you videos
How neat to try a different method! It looked like she did great with it all
She is doing so great.
Yeah!!! That went sooo well!! 😍🐎
Nice! Great video. I now have better idea of “ponying “. Thanks!
Eeeeeek I can’t wait to watch and follow the rest of her journey! I love
these videos
That white horse is so good
He’s a mustang!
Great series!!
Loving your progress ♥️
Very cool thanks for sharing.
You nailed it !! What a great vid !!
Hi
Your doing great job, mare is also do great. You have to start then how you are comfortable that works best can't wait till next video stay safe
Will you name her? She is so willing and intelligent. She needs a name.
She definitely will lol, she's just waiting to see which name fits
She’s so good!
Great vids ❤️💚
💚💚💚
She did good...I have seen horses that really sit down and balk at being ponied.....This helps to teach respect of the lead line...
It's great watching good horse training, because there's a lot of bad horse training. You're great trainer Sam. How do you dismount without pulling something? I end up pulling my inner thigh muscle, I guess I'm just not flexible enough, so last time I went riding, I got off onto a wall just below my feet
Thank you! I do a lot of stretches out of the saddle that may help me with that. I'm sure when I get a little older I'll start pulling things LOL
You're welcome. Lol. Yeah maybe I should start stretching just before I get up there
Ah you went to my home city, Tucson? I thought it felt extra Mustang-y!😋
Love seeing how she’s developing- she has such a solid mind💚
Is Jeff training for this EMM too?
He is not! But the grey in this video is his mustang from Roulettes EMM 😊
Sam VanFleet I thought it might have been his latest EMM... absolutely gorgeous! I remember he paced 5th, right? Super impressive horses at that emm - Incredible how much further Jeff’s horse has developed in the past six months.
Second comment! You are so amazing with that mare! I hope I can have an opportunity to adopt a mustang
Hey alot of racehorse babies are started in exercise saddles and they turn out ok . I like his place, what are the shades made of? Ya'll did a good job together. His pony is nice.
Sam what a cool experience for you and your mare. Any name yet? She seems so willing.
Those western saddles can be VERY heavy!😂 mine weighs twice my weight😄
Im holding out for Buffy the sweet mare :) cuz why not ?
I would hate not having reins on the first ride! More power to you though, it’s always good to try new things and shows how much you and the horse trust each other. Also, his mustang looks SO BIG compared to her! Big ole boy, beautiful though. You can tell it’s not his first time ponying another horse 😂
I heard from an old rancher that you want to stand by her shoulder and grab the cinch with your left hand, so that you're not in the back legs' kick zone.
I think the name destiny fits her well 🥰
Where’s day 8??😯🥺
Giirrrll when and where is the competition gonna be at? I definitely wanna watch and try to go if the virus doesn’t stop it 😭
It’s going to be virtual sadly... but that means everyone can watch it from anywhere!
Sam VanFleet what website can I watch it from and when?
You should name her Journey because she has had a good journey
Ok, but what breed is the grey?
He’s a mustang
I want to teach my horse to lay down so I can get off. Lol. He’s too tall and hopping down in the winter time kills my feet.
❤️❤️😘🐴🐴🐴
Day 7 AND THEN YOU CAN DO THISSS, my grooming pony can't even galopping with me on her back💀
She's already better at backing up than the horses I ride 😢
Love u vids
Clicked so fast!
When will u name herrrrr
