It’s a lesson program, they’re just younger kids or beginner adults learning how to ride. It also go quieter so I just tried to make the voiceover louder over it lol
@@SamVanFleet I love listening to trainers coaching their students. It cracks me up especially when they're really into it and saying wild stuff to their students. 😂😂😂
you are showing great presence of mind dealing with the noise in the back ground. You are very focused, this makes for an excellent trainer/horse person.
Ashley is giving me flashbacks to my Saddleseat days. My trainer was never without a glass of whiskey and a cigarette and she was a total hardass but man, her lessons were LESSONS and I don't know if I ever had a better teacher. Your mustang is coming along great, really loving these vids!
@@SamVanFleet Yeah lol, that definitely tracks! It's a steep learning curve but no one can argue the dividends of a trainer that knows how to push you to be your best.
I truly appreciate your attention to the details of the training..developing the softness of the mouth, I think knowing how to teach steering is wonderful...the open spaces point of out the round corral, is an excellent point! just cause a horse is mellow, does not mean they ain't smart, she has figured out a whole lot.... especially where to get total release! at the hitching area.
13:15 In our barn we have a similar saying, "The main goal is completion, not perfection." It's a hard lesson for some people to learn. You can't expect a horse to know everything right away and have a polished, flawless performance, that just won't happen the first go around. We all start somewhere 💁♀️
I definitely understand having a horse that gravitates towards where they know the work will stop, my rescue took months to get out of that mindset and it took a lot of persistence from me to end our rides in a different place in our pasture each time! It's been just over two years from when I got him, and now he's incredibly forward and rides just about how I like to! Snooze is lovely already and I can't wait to see how she progresses!
Super work outside the round pen team Sam & Snooze! She just keeps on thinking & working through each new ask that you have, and seems to really retain the skills & confidence she's gained from each previous session with you. No doubt the whole transition from completely wild horse to where she finds herself initially after being drawn must be stressful, but I really have to wonder if once they get settled, that they're actually relieved to have a constant, no-fail hay and water source, and be free of the constant power struggles band stallions always seem to cause. It's like they can FINALLY stop worrying. I think I'm projecting a bit...but I do wonder.🐴💕👍
Snooze: STAHP telling me what to do!!! I am a strong independent mare!! Sam: Sorry, boo. You gotta listen. Snooze: Alright FINE. You win. Love this girl
She is so pretty, excited for when she finally figures out the trot and how to maintain it. Something tells me when she actually gets stamina up she’s going to be a very neat jumper!
I study Parelli in Parelli land Snooze is a Left Brain Introvert. Smart, confident, you’re not the boss of me, what’s in it for me and I need to save my energy in case my life is in danger. Strategies, not too long sessions ( just how Sam is doing), I tend to ask for forward movement at the shoulder instead of hindquarters because the horse is less likely to buck. I love these horses ( mine is just like this). Because when they connect with you they will give you everything, they will take care of you and all they want in return is rest and food. ❤️.
This mare reminds me of my borrowed mustang I had when I was a teen- he didn’t know what I was doing, I didn’t know what he was doing he didn’t know what to do and I didn’t know what to do...yet luckily we lived through each other and he was my FAVORITE HORSE EVER! I’m scared of horses now. I’d be convinced to try again if I found one like Snooze... she’s lovely🥰
Doing a great job! I can see snooze being quite sassy once she works up the energy ;) Also: when did you crack 50.000 subscribers?! I started following you around the time you got Boo I think and did not notice the increase until now. Congratulations!
This is awesome! Do you have any tips for beginners who want to train their first mustang? I’m hoping to get a mustang, but I don’t have any training experience.
I love how you ask a lot before you give a stronger cue to move forward for her....brakes🤣you have really locked up brakes already(kinding...we call my gelding concrete feet because he's like snooze...no faster than her pace😍) she's a gem that one...smart and smooth even if a touch slow to show she learned it when you know she did😉
She's such a gentle mare omg I love her so much 😍😍😍 I have a sort of question/inquiry though... Does she seem to be dragging her white foot? Throughout the video it looks like she was limping a bit and dragging it more so than the other side.
@@CowgirlGoneJumper I thought that too but I noticed it up in her hip area as well. 🤷♀️idk I guess if she's doing fine there's nothing to worry about, just me being over cautious lol

That would be so cool! I think what you do is amazing, I have always felt a burning passion about how awful the roundups can be.. but at least they get to move on to a better life out of the holding pens with your help!
I'm no pro here what so ever , but the thought crossed my mind that maybe Snooze is hurting and its the reason for her behavior ? Thank You for the quick uploads !! Great Stuff !!
This mare is very lazy...hoping that with a larger empty area she may be more centered on you! She seems to be in her own world! Her personality lends her to be easily spoiled.....kind of like a kid that is waiting for the clock to hit the time for the bell to ring! Hoping that as she gets her education she will be more willing!!
Donna C. I believe She’s more insecure than lazy....just like a kid when they learn something new they are going to go slower and question everything until they gain practice and confidence. I bet Sam will help her that confidence soon.
She has a nice gait that looks like it covers ground. I can't wait to see her in open country. No doubt her next owner is going to spoil her rotten! So happy to see Roulette at this busy stable, being the serious mama.
It’s only for a few minutes and you can only really hear it for a minute. She’s teaching a lesson. If you don’t want to watch the video, then move on, no reason to comment negativity
If I had to guess, I would say she's teaching Snooze how to accept a bit now because it's very likely her future owner will want to ride her with a bit. It's safer for Snooze and the future owner/s for her to already be properly trained both with a bit and bit-less.
Am i glad that woman is teaching me on a lesson. Typically over-dominant. All that kind do is frighten the rider and the horse. I'd have to tell her to stop the aggression and actually teach. Glad you're nothing like that, Sam.

Ur fine
I’m sure we can all agree that we are just happy to watch your video with Snooze!
You're excused, I love watching ur skills u have with the equestrian . 🐎 🤗 Ur amazingly talented !
But was it your mares first ride exiting the round pen? 😉😉😂
Micki Stover it was! And it was her 3rd ride! Did you know? 😂

That pretty much sums up my entire "learning to ride" experience 🙄
I might get that tattooed bc I have such a hard time remembering that. I expect too much.

Not always
