  • Here's how I motorized my kayak by installing the MotorGuide Xi3 on the bow of my Nucanoe Unlimited.
    Items needed:
MotorGuide Xi3 Kayak Trolling Motor: bassproshops.v...
MotorGuide Xi3 Quick Release Bracket: www.nucanoe.co...
2 eight or ten-gauge marine plugs and receptacles: bassproshops.v...
12 feet of eight or ten-gauge wire (keep it the same as your plugs and receptacles):
    12v battery: bassproshops.v...
    60A circuit breaker: bassproshops.v...
    Tools needed:
    Screwdriver
    Wrenches
    Drill & hole saw
    Wire crimpers/pliers
One reason I chose to purchase the Nucanoe Unlimted was how easy it is to install a bow-mount trolling motor on it. Here's how I quickly installed the Motorguide Xi3 on the front of my kayak.
The installation was pretty straightforward and simple. So, if you are just a little bit handy with tools, you'll easily be able to do this one yourself. However, if you don't feel comfortable about it, feel free to take it to your local kayak shop to have them rig it!
Step 1: Install the quick-release bracket & block on the kayak.
Step 2: Install the other half of the quick-release bracket on the trolling motor.
Step 3: Drill your holes where the receptacles will go.
Step 4: Run the wires through the hull of the kayak.
Step 5: Crimp the wires to the plugs and receptacles. Red with red and black with black! Don't make the rookie mistake I did!
Step 6: Ensure the trolling motor works.
Step 7: Install/secure the receptacles to the hull of the kayak.
Step 8: Take it to the water and enjoy having a motorized kayak.

This is probably a dumb question. When you're carrying your kayak, do you grab on to the hole part of the adapter seen at :36? Thanks

      Not a dumb question!
Yes, I do; I assumed that’s what it was for since I had to remove the handle when I installed it, and I haven't had any problems using it as a handle.

I think Amazon. They’re quick connect trolling motor plugs and receptacles most sporting goods stores sell them. I know I’ve seen them as bass pro

Not necessarily but I do keep my battery and Blackpack pro in the back to spread out the weight
