Kite string would be less visible. Thats my only gripe. Ive done this but also put something to hold the string down at the waters edge so it doesnt pop up and down. I just feel it draws a line for birds right to your blind. Dont know if it really matters but thats my ocd lol.

I do own a big farm but I never wear or buy anything for hunting. Only ammo or arrows. I hunt in whatever

100% nailed it man. I grew up hunting rabbits, squirrels, duck with relatives as a kid and got busy with other things while growing up. Now, I’m almost 40 and want to get back into it but it’s too difficult for all those exact reasons. Hell I can barely afford to fish as often as I’d like. It sucks when you want to sustain yourself with wild game but the odds are against ya.

Yeah I don't think a sear on the firing pin if frozen will hold the pin an sear together I think you figured out if was frozen an he was trying up un freez it an when it went off he threw it a arms length away

Best thing you can do when you make a geniune mistake is call the game wardens. Every single one ive talked to would rather you be honest and upfront then having to come and find you. And in my experience they will always let you off if you comw forward first. For a couple of examples. This video, lol i had one like it too, on the other end i knew of a guy who shot a cow moose thinking it was an elk(very inexperienced and we werent known to have moose) he didnt come forward, they hunted him and 15 years later he still cant legally hunt, the very officer that made the arrest said if he would have came forward from the start he wouldve never got in trouble, but he took it all the way to the butcher bragging the whole way, even after being corrected.

Ive been wanting to get an xi3 for my Native TitanX 12.5 to anchor better in deeper water and to get around a little bit, but i just have this gut feeling lowrance may come out with a kayak length recon with the recent acquisition of motorguide and I really like that new remote they have on the recon. Already running lowrance units too so they'd pair right up together. It might end up costing more than an Xi3 but I'd be willing to save up the extra money for a more updated motor with better features.

I find if you are hunting bigger water or open marsh I think calling is unnecessary. As they probably never even hear it, in flooded timber it’s a different story. Especially for woodies
