Inflatable SUP VS Fishing Kayak Showdown | Isle Switch Pro Vs Wilderness Systems iAtak 110
Thank you for purchasing the iAtak 110 through this affiliate link: shrsl.com/4lj1x
Thank you for purchasing the Isle Switch Pro SUP/Kayak Hybrid using this affiliate link: islesurfsup.sjv.io/75Z6PA
Doing so allows me to continue creating helpful fishing kayak reviews!
Not all inflatable fishing kayaks are the same, and buying the wrong one will lead to despair and regret. But it doesn't have to be this way. Two of the best inflatable fishing kayaks are the Wilderness Systems iAtak 110 and the Isle Switch Pro.
However, one will lead you to have a happy family, and the other will lead to spending thousands of dollars for family counseling!... okay that's a bit dramatic, but let's talk about which one will work best for you.
The Wilderness Systems iAtak 110 was expertly designed for anglers because
It has a cozy seat
Several rigging options/Holds quite a bit of gear
It's durable and stable
Keeps most of the water out
However, as great as kayak is, I've found a few drawbacks
It's heavy for an inflatable kayak
It takes longer to air up and get on the water
Thank you for purchasing the Wilderness Systems iAtak 110 here: shrsl.com/4lj1x
Thank you for purchasing the Isle Switch Pro here:
It's a bit awkward to go from sitting to standing
You need really good balance to stand and fish
These cons might mean the Isle Switch Pro is the better option because it has several excellent features that were designed with anglers in mind-
Stable
Lighter
Airs up faster so you can get on the water sooner
Durable
Motor mount and kayak crate options are available.
But it's not perfect because
You're gonna get wet
The seat is reasonably comfortable but not as nice as the iAtak seat. (Still awkward to go from sitting to standing because it's so low)
Lack of rigging options
Who are these inflatable fishing kayaks for?
As an avid angler, I've found the Wilderness Systems iAtak 110 to be a viable option when I don't want to haul a trailer or can't throw a hard-sided kayak in the back of my truck. It has plenty of features to satisfy most kayak anglers.
However, if you're a family man looking for a fun paddleboard/ kayak that you can also fish from on occasion.

Replacing the springs will calm your anger. Understanding how gps works, having to make constant adjustments, and how we shouldn't use spotlock in the wind, would help 99% of people that have issues with these. Of course you should take your motor off when on the road!!! Seriously?

I have 3 kayaks, each has a different purpose. That little kayak is perfect for dragging up and down steep banks and over rocks in shallow rivers to get to places other people can't. My favorite smallmouth river is so shallow I can't use the other 2 kayaks there.

@@KayakKid I see the comments that say they are cheap junk. I catch more fish per hour used in that little kayak than either of the others. If people are bothered by the fact they don't have an expensive name they have their priorities wrong. I purchased a well known brand and one of the most stable yaks on the market(75lbs), it paddles like a barge so try them out before buying if you can and make sure you can handle having to paddle like a crazy man when trying to get somewhere.

I say use what you can afford! I love my expensive kayaks but they're not always the best tool for everyone. I'd much rather see people enjoying the outdoors in cheap kayaks than sitting on the couch wishing they could go kayak fishing.

The hand pump is really a non-factor. If you are paying $1400 for a kayak, you shouldn't be cutting corners by not buying a proper electric pump. Why drive yourself into the ground by being cheap at such a critical juncture? Sure, the supplied hand pump is fine...but the air mattress pump is a joke throw in. $100 will net a fine auto shutoff rechargeable/DC pump. Sure, if you are on a tight budget...but this is not a tight budget boat, so...

Just a couple of comments: if you had thigh straps and foot pegs, you and your father would not have been bounced out of the Star Raven. I recognize your maneuvers from paddling a standard decked kayak - leaning back when entering rapids and waves to raise the bow of the kayak through the wave train. You don’t do that with an inflatable because of the bow rocker and the air cells - the kayak is designed to raise high on waves - that is why you both fell out and flipped. Also, leaning left or right into the current flips the inflatable - sitting centered in the kayak with the thigh straps will enable you to cruise the most beautiful lake to maneuvering the most technical class III and IV rapids.

I've never run a 100Ah battery down, even after multiple days in a row on the water. One day, I trolled with a 50Ah battery in my kayak for 6-8 miles, so you'll have plenty of juice to run 4 miles.

I'd love to see them make a way to make the sides a little square & not as wide. Same with the front. Built in paddle holder could be an option as well as a sterable Rutter. For the proce point on these. Some options should just be a given.

I got 2 packs of the Skooler to use as a rubber jerk bait. I use them most for river smallmouth. I wanted a smaller version of the Super Fluke 5" that had more action than the 4" Fluke. Compared to the 5", it's a bit of a dog. I tried the Rapala Crush bait, but it had only an OK action. I'm interested how these look once fished with a T-rigged EWG hook. Does it compare well with a standard Super Fluke? .

I think something that's easy to transport and get in and out of the water makes it more likely you actually go paddling. Don't have to store a trailer... it's makes a lot of sense. Thanks again.

I’ve had the same issue with spot lock since day one(right out the box). My motor is about 2 months old. I hit anchor mode, and it immediately turn me 180 degrees, then start to hunt. I’ve calibrated multiple times, still no luck. I’m considering reaching out to Motorguide to see if they can offer some type of solution. Very disappointing.

Just bought this rod today in 6.6 medium heavy casting. Haven’t took it out yet but did cast in the yard for a few minutes seems pretty nice and casts well. I’m a budget fishing guy and for $30 bucks it’s nice. Have it paired with a cheap agility reel I got last week at Wally World. I’m new to bait casters so this is my first setup. Still learning to cast without birdnesting it lol. I’ve got the side cast down fairly well but anything over head is a disaster lol. Specs are really good on the premium version of these rods im6 nice eyelets and good handles. Hard to beat for the money.

I’m interested. I fish sometimes daily. Water is reservoir or backwater creek. My launch points are 30 sec from my compact SUV. It’s a Honda HRV . It’s about 6 feet from hatchback door to back of seats. I wouldn’t store it in bag until season end. I could probably partially deflate it and cram in the back. Water inside won’t be an issue. I’d want a fish finder for sure, a single rod holder. My fishing backpack would fit between my legs. Great review👍🏻

    • @KayakKid
      @KayakKid Місяць тому

It sounds like it'd be a good fit! I'm enjoying my time with it more than I thought I would! I don't think you'll find an inflatable kayak with a better seat. I just finished up testing out some Railblaza Products that worked well for a fish finder and a rod holder.

Do you have a rudder on your new canoe? Had similar issues that you mentioned. The rudder made a significant difference in how my xi3 performed on my F12. Plus I steer with the rudder and a foot pedal rarely needing to use the motor to turn.

    • @KayakKid

I know AutoBoat makes and attachment to turn just about any trolling motor into a spot lock trolling motor but I have not used it so idk if it’s any better. Ok ok so I was on a lake Saturday and my phone goes into roaming...country ass lake...how would that effect it if at all? Most of these lakes I fish don't have the best service phone wise due to them being away from civilization. And why did you not put it on the back? I have a catch mode 110, I can also stand up in it, it has a plastic bracket back there for a motor as well luckily.

    • @KayakKid
      @KayakKid 2 місяці тому

I’ve been in some pretty remote areas with it and I didn’t have any out of the ordinary issues with it. It uses satellites/Gps so cell towers nearby don't matter. It's designed for the front, I have another that mounts to the rear and I didn't like how it maneuvered as much as a bow mounted trolling motor. I don't think the xi3 would work very well mounted to the back of a yak.
