Love to see new people reacting to Elvis. The surprise in their faces makes me smile. It’s like awakening to something so beautiful you can’t explain the feelings. His voices touches your soul. Check out trying to get to you from the 1968 comeback special and American Trilogy’ from Aloha from Hawaii. Every song in these two concerts are great. Also, That’s the way it is from 1970 Los Vegas performances. After that you can check out the movies and documentaries. In his short 20 year career Elvis left us a huge legacy.

I've been an Elvis fan for decades now and have done a lot of research.
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory.
Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off.
As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ua-cam.com/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/v-deo.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.
Unfortunately, Elvis really died on August 16, 1977. He died aged 42, but the state of his body/organs was that of an 80-year-old. Very sad.
Elvis got addicted in the army (1958-1960) because the brass was afraid Elvis (and other soldiers who had to stand guard in the icy German winters) might fall asleep on watch in the freezing temperatures, so he got his first uppers while serving in the US army. It snowballed after that when he was back in civilian life and showbiz. He had a doctor in every state (and even several cities per state) who would provide him with all the prescription medication he wanted to have and later needed to sort of function. Such a waste of such a fine specimen.
Elvis would sometimes cause an injury or wound to himself to get certain prescription drugs. He had medical books that described all kinds of medications, which to combine with which etc. that he almost knew by heart; he'd made a whole study of it. He did have a genetic link to heart disease, but he undermined and damaged his health by over using prescription drugs for ailments he did not have, thereby causing real medical issues like a blocked colon, hypertension etc. His intestines had been leaking into his abdomen for some considerable time. He wasn't just constipated, his intestines did not work normally anymore because of the massive amounts of prescription drugs he had been abusing for decades. The placebo intervention by Dr Nick was too little, too late. ua-cam.com/video/hRqzwJJyJkg/v-deo.html
As far as I know, there weren't any real rehab centers as we know them today, back then. His immediate circle of family, friends and employees were all afraid and too uneducated (and probably selfish, not wanting to lose their meal ticket, although very short sighted because that attitude killed their meal ticket prematurely) to do something about it. Elvis' finances were in the toilet at the time of his death. The colonel got 50% of what Elvis earned and all personnel was paid out of Elvis' 50%. Add to that that Elvis was way too generous, even to strangers, and there you have it. Also: people usually criticize the bodyguards who wrote the book Elvis What Happened? But they should also realize that Joe Esposito was a big enabler (and covered up the scene after Elvis' death. He has told at least 3 versions of what happened that fateful day) and Jerry Schilling is totally in Elvis' EX Priscilla's pocket (which means going along with falsification of many Elvis facts to suit her storyline; they basically rewrote Elvis history on several points).

Elvis died; those who believe in the conspiracy theory are simply desperate to believe that he's still alive. Elvis was adamantly against Scientology; he would never have gone along with Priscilla getting Lisa Marie involved in it if he were still alive. In addition to which, Lisa Marie was the most important person in Elvis' life; he would not have let her grieve over his death for decades just so he could 'hide away' from the public. Elvis did have a twin; but the twin died in childbirth. Btw, please turn up the volume of your videos; they're not anywhere near as loud as your reactions.

I saw that Elvis movie last year or the year before. What if his twin would have lived? He was alone as a kid and went to neighbors houses, local churches and I'm not sure if he would have been doing all that if he'd had a brother. I'm saying he maybe would have never got on the track that led to Elvis the legend. Does that make sense?

............well, here's MY opinion: I was working the phones in the Fire Marshals office(known as the Fire Alarm Office)a call came in from Graceland, maybe late morning/early afternoon on 8/16/1977...they were requesting an ambulance stat....we knew Elvis was in town, and by the call, we thought it might be for him...about 3-4 hrs after the pronouncement of his death, we were getting calls(for particulars)from around the world. yes, he died!

Elvis, apparently, was much better looking in the flesh than he already was on screen and in photos. Hard to believe. So many women and (heterosexual) men openly said he was the most beautiful human being they'd ever seen. Also that he was one of the nicest people one could imagine. Just watch these clips of various celebrities talking about Elvis: ua-cam.com/video/1dOfpXg6on0/v-deo.html various people about Elvis Goldie Hawn 8:33, ua-cam.com/video/aznpMRCvK6s/v-deo.html BB King, ua-cam.com/video/oE2CrArkatY/v-deo.html Nancy Sinatra (Frank Sinatra's daughter), ua-cam.com/video/2jY-sS6rFDc/v-deo.html Kurt Russell (who acted opposite Elvis age 10 and who also played Elvis in a movie), ua-cam.com/video/1FhGY_sVsfM/v-deo.html kurt russell, ua-cam.com/video/-69L_0f2en4/v-deo.html Jerry Reed (who wrote and played guitar on Guitar Man and who starred in many Burt Reynolds movies), ua-cam.com/video/mzuTA5ES9fA/v-deo.html walter matthau richard egan jerry lieber jerry schilling (Walter Matthau played opposite Elvis in King Creole, Richard Egan played opposite Elvis in Love Me Tender), ua-cam.com/video/qN6dBTlT3HA/v-deo.html Ed Ashner (played opposite Elvis in Kid Galahad and Change of Habit), ua-cam.com/video/hWFA29tOul4/v-deo.html Harry Morgan (starred with Elvis in Frankie & Johnny), ua-cam.com/video/ywsuK3sRtLI/v-deo.html Mac Davis (singer songwriter who wrote In the Ghetto), ua-cam.com/video/ASofKyyYTlI/v-deo.html Joe Namath (veteran football player), ua-cam.com/video/N-KDZ7E3S7A/v-deo.html Bruno Kirby (actor and fan). It's crazy to think that Elvis has been dead longer than he has lived, yet his fandom is still growing. Passed away at 42 and this year he will have been gone for 47 years.

What you don’t realize it that Elvis was not photogenic. There was never a picture that did him justice. So when people saw him live most of could not believe that a human could look so good. His buddies in the Memphis Mafia said that sometimes you just couldn’t help but to stare at him, his was that good looking.

Jane H commenting ….. Elvis’ greatest love in his life, was his little girl Lisa Marie, who he absolutely adored. If those people who think he is still alive & now 89 years old, thought that he would ever have done that to his 9 year old daughter, then they really cannot have known him very well at all. And he would not have done that to the father he loved either. It was well-known that he had been very sick for several years by the time he passed, & he had been hospitalised several times during the years prior to his death. Concerts had had to be cancelled due to his ill-health, & he had collapsed on stage during a concert in LA in 1975, I think it was. He was really struggling health wise & in very poor health when he died.

Bro I mention it once before but there's a two-part video on UA-cam and I think the name is Elvis and the black community. It's probably not going to catch copyright but you might want to check it out in your spare so you understand like I had to kind of understand what's up with Elvis and all this racism talk that I grew up on. You change your mind more lately. Thanks for the video and peace to you and your girl or the girl haha
