I don't see any issue with wearing a boot made before it was banned, it's not like not buying it will save that turtle that was already killed. Plus the old Justins in b widths would definitely be a nice find since they were traditionally made back then.
Picked up a pair of pre-ban Nocona sea turtle boots at an antique mall in Ohio today for $25.00!!! They are in beautiful original condition with a very small teal at the top of the shaft.
How much would something like that pair be worth ???? Just knowing Nocona had all their papers in order when they made them, should mean they're pre-ban ? Or am I wrong?
@@JeremiahCraig just found a pair of sea turtle boots at my local antique store in my exact size they are Tony lama"s and boy am I glad I got them how durable are sea turtle boots 👢????
Nice boots. I would wear them, since they were pre-ban. It's the same as playing a 150 year old Steinway piano with ivory keys. Ivory isn't used today, and is banned. I would wear them sparingly, and not to a PETA event, LOL!
PETA isn’t exactly known for being well-educated about what they protest (like thinking shearing sheep is a bloody, traumatic, sometimes deadly process for the sheep, which is just dumb in every way). They would probably be totally oblivious!
Gator belly is square tile the belly area leading to the arm pit slightly resembles sea turtle but still a little rounder tile shape. Big difference in the skins. Both are beautiful.
I love my sea turtle boots! One thing that helped me find them was to be patient! It’s certainly worth it! And a search term I’ve seen for these boots has been “Sea Alligator” Hope that helps!
I just found a pair of Justins with the foot part made of Sea Turtle. I googled and it said Sea Turtle was banned in the early 90's, but Justin stopped in the 70's? I had never even heard of this. Someone told me when I listed it for resale for way too cheap apparently. I pulled them immediately so now I have to figure out how much to ask for them. This was very informative.
What a treasure to find!! They look to be in fantastic shape! Congrats that you were able to find a very nice pair of sea turtles in your true size. 🔥🔥😀
I've got a vintage pair of JAMA patchwork sea turtle boots with cowhide shafts and another unmarked pair of full sea turtle boots (6 pieces total per boot). They do appear vintage 1970s or earlier, but I'm not sure I will ever have confirmation.
You're right! There are people who can do this with any boot but it's risky if it's not done by a custom boot maker because the sizing may be off after a relast. I've heard some relasting horror stories
Hi jeremiah, it would be great to have the trousers tucked into the boots to be able to see the all boot thanks for posting mate, love this turtle boots
"Hello Jeremiah, I think you'll feel great in these new boots, the kind of boots that go with the stretch gray and black cowboy Jean's ! I found on an American site for vintage boots, brown Justin boots similar to your boots but it was Caïman and I had bought a pair of Nocona brown tanned pigskin with lizard toe and the same style of boot uppers and frankly it's class, in this kind of boots, we are super good! Great your beautiful boots Jeremiah! "
I met a man who was a migrant worker. He told me that his family threw him a going away party and his son in law gave him sea turtle boots. He was so happy but unfortunately CBP confiscated them so he was forced to make the rest of the trip in huaraches😀😆
Thank you. I found some Justin's preban Sea Turtle boots a few years ago. They're sea turtle on the foot and cow hide on the shaft. Only problem is that they're 9.5 A.
I have a serious question. What is the difference between wearing a pre-ban exotic leather boot and wearing a pre-ban leopard coat, for example? I know there is an overall distaste for fur products in general now, which may be different from leather goods, but both types of products use skins from animals that became endangered and remain outlawed today. A woman couldn't possibly walk down the street in a genuine leopard coat today, so how is wearing pre-ban exotic leather boots different? Genuinely want to hear perspectives on this.
I would honestly see it the same way. To me, wearing those items (made when it was legal) is a way of valuing the animal instead of letting it go to waste, whether it’s sea turtles or leopards or whatever. The difference is that a leopard coat would draw a lot more attention and possibly hostility!
I picked up some vintage Tony Lama sea turtle boots at Goodwill, they had no idea what they were. Great find! I don't even want to tell you how much I payed but I'm a 9 E and these are 10 B and unfortunately I can't fit in them

It's my understanding that the sale of pre-ban boots within your state of residence to a fellow resident does not violate federal law; however you need to ensure it is allowed under the laws of the state in which you reside. If not prohibited under state law..... craigslist, FB, offer up, etc.. Just be sure the buyer (who could be an undercover law enforcement officer) is a resident of the state in which you live.
Those are beautiful boots ( shame that there illegal now , understandable though seeing how close to extinction we took these animals . I would advise wearing them sparingly and in places you not likely to be attacked for wearing them . Yes being attacked is a possibility , I have a WW2 era sea turtle guitar ( made from the shell ) it is truly a beautiful instrument ,but one I dont take to bonfire parties to play anymore after a legit physical altercation . I don’t really understand why they are banned. I mean, as massive as all of the oceans are in the world, the Sea Turtles population is low! Do you know how much of the oceans have not been explored? Just my view.
Usually science is shit, but when it comes to animals being near endangered/endangered, they’re spot on. I’m all for any sea turtle product now being banned. Plenty of other badass skins we can enjoy without killing another sea turtle! I’d love a vintage pre-ban pair though

I feel the same way about vintage furs, too. Refusing to use them doesn’t save any animals; it just makes them go to waste!

The motherload!
Does this place in Fort Worth estimate the value of your boots if you think you have a pair of preban anteater?
