    Our new Go-Fund-Me generator has arrived, now we need to get it on the boat. This was harder than you would think and took some left field thinking to solve it. So of course the solution involved lifting Brupeg out of the water for a night...
    We promise, this episode is about lifting the generator onto the boat!

    You got that prop walk down to an art in reverse.
    I think you would benefit having a ships/spoke wheel on the bridge, less fighting with the wheel, and also have you considered a wheel or joystick and controls out on the aft deck for steerage?

    Time to add a bow rudder for reverse driving!

  • @raymondnybakk1311
    @raymondnybakk1311 5 місяців тому +2

    When going backwards you need to use the rudder opposite way of where you want to go, and some small bursts in forward to steer. But get rid of the propnozzle, and get an ordinary propeller. Your boat will handle a lot better, get more efficient and probably higher speeds.
    These nozzles are only good for heavy towing.

      @@ProjectBrupeg Ah the magic button where does it hide....As far as I know the only magic button is hidden somewhere on a woman. Men have been trying for a long time to discover where the elusive button hides. Button, button who's got the button. Only the women know. ....... I wonder what the AI algorithms think about this off the cuff jokes that some of us get and play with vs serious Convo? I could really go for messing with the algorithms, just to see if it generates anything for the channels I like and follow.

    she looks good but having paint blown off like that might mean an earth leak or current leaking with all that over engineered electronics it wouldn't be hard to have a wire that is bonded in the wrong place. time to get the sparky back in

    I was so close to sending you a transom mounted 12v camera for going astern, the girlie friend has just bought a new citroen which is fitted with one, anyhoo I manage to get it off and almost to the post office , but she caught me, she said im so grounded, which is stange as we live on a boat, lol ( you need a bow thruster, haha, ) ok ok no need to get heavy, you manage just nicely, let us see you in a strong beam wind direction, or bow quater wind direction while fighting a swirling currant, lol, steady steady just winding you up, lol

    You could probably hang the radio handset up in the wheelhouse from a retractable cable while underway closer to the wheel so it's easier to access And not pulling itself back towards the window. Every time I let go of it then all you have to do is reach up and grab it

    Ours doesn't like to turn in reverse but lots of throttle pumping (like drifting a car) with full lock on the wheel pulls her around. The short bursts gets the water flow across the rudder without having to be moving at speeds if that makes sense

    Years ago up in Cairns a number of American super seiners did their refits at the Tropical Reef Slipway , talking to one they said it was the first time out of the water in 5 years and the amount of barnacles would not have filled a 20 litre bucket .
    They brought their own anti fouling paint with them which took two men to carry a 5 gallon tin , so much metal in the paint . Anti fouling is less effective these days because of environmental concerns .
    When you get a chance , clean that prop down to bare metal again and apply a good etch primer before anti fouling next time .

    Another alternative to longer forks to get the pallet out of the ute would be to pop off the tailgate. It’d let the lift get that extra scootch closer. A good trick to keep in your back pocket.

      It’s a nice to have but not critical.Brupeg has been without a bow thruster for fifty years. We just need to understand how she moves and we can back her into most places

  • @dennisash7221
    @dennisash7221 5 місяців тому +3

    You need to get one of those reversing cameras installed with the guide lines to help you backing up like that.
    By the way, have you considered a bow thruster again, I remember you said before that it was not necessary but it seems to be that the handling could be dramatically improved especially for someone who does not have the experience you have piloting that boat. If it is mainly cost you could consider another croud funding round in about 12 months.

    • @ProjectBrupeg
      @ProjectBrupeg  5 місяців тому +1

      For us a bow thruster is a nice to have but not essential. While it would make steering in reverse possible, Brupeg has worked fine for nearly fifty years without a bow thruster. To add a bow thruster it’s maybe 20grand all up with all the system costs associated with the install. For us given we are community funded it’s just not value for money.

      @@ProjectBrupeg I appreciate that it is a nice to have and that it's a community funced project, but that does not mean it should be off the table, there is a case to be made for this feature which is why I suggest keep it there and revisit it in 12 months or so.
