After lifting Brupeg clear of the water so we could forklift our new Go Fund Me Generator onboard, the crew and volunteers set to work cleaning, sanding and painting the antifoul and the propeller. What we didnt know, was that we had too many anodes, so Dame surprised a few of us by cutting some of them off in the middle of the night!
A massive thank you to Trev, Brent, Peter, Josca & Maddi for helping us get the job done in a very short space of time. Once we got back to our wharf, the boat fell quiet as the crew collapsed with exhaustion after the formula one pitstop.
We hope you enjoy what was a fun and fast haul out
Your grateful crew

Thanks for watching and for your support!
Nice to see her back in the water, great job by everyone involved in Anti foul prep and paint.
All the best to you all.
Another great episode with good friends thrown in and a great ending sequence - just loved it.
You lot are hardcore! Bish, bash bosh and back at the wharf!
Is that memorial plaque on the engine the guy who built it and are you guys still friends with dango stew? It’s almost like he dropped off social media altogether
Yeah I miss the old Stu too
Tha plaque is actually a dedication to the father of one of our long time supporters who died during the original wave of covid.
I don’t know if I missed the reasoning from another video but why don’t you have a sight glass on the coolant header tank instead of having to dip it with your finger?
Dame, Jess so glad I could be part of cleaning your bottom, a bit smelly but I enjoyed every minute.
What truely blew me away, was the other boaties, that we had never meet before, who turned up out of nowhere and offer to work until midnight scraping and applying antifoul.
The boating community is absolutely amazing.
Giving, without the expectation of instant gratification.
Happy to pay it forward, in the belief that others will help them when needed.
Truely a wonderful, caring community, an example of how the world can live together in harmony!

Thanks Brent. It was awesome having you here with us mate
The pleasure was all mine
Good editing, thanks Jess

Brupeg,s exhaust tone sounds so sweet ! An excellent nights work guys can’t wait to see her going on longer trips
Completely agree. Hearing it start up after the launch took me back to when I used to hear boats come to life with a bit of a shake, shudder and a puff of smoke. Very cool.
Good work and just an observation - that bow thruster looked an awful lot like Trev. Just Sayin! :)
Looking at your bottom I figured out why you have no steering when going in reverse. You have a very long straight rudder called a keel. When you go in reverse the propeller pushes the water down the keel so your rudder will have no or minmal impact on the direction it points. You solved the problem anyway by giving a little squirt of forward with the rudder pointed in the direction you want the stern to move. Good job!!!
I feel exceptionally proud to be a small part of your wonderful journey!
Brick acid is amazing for cleaning the prop.
The bottom was relatively clean the prop was a bit crusty but nothing unexpected (I hope) Nice to see a few people show up to help out. 2x👍
Nice to hear Dangar Stu mentioned who introduced me to being a Patreon of your Channel. Any melting of that ice?
Hi Stephen, thats great to hear. No we wont be going back to dealing with Stu and Adrian.
In days gone by ships had copper sheathing instead of antifoul. I have often wondered if smaller items like props could be copper plated given it is difficult to coat them with antifoul paint!
Jess, you did so good on the stairs but I know you're hurting now. Go sit on the couch with an ice pack and a Kitty pad.
Second watch since Patreon release. Love these sorts of updates. If you are watching this and enjoy the process, this is all about what Brupeg will enable as a research vessel. So come along and get involved and do it for the adventure and for the science that Brupeg can enable.
Can’t wait for the next speed run. She should be good for at least another ½kn now you’ve got all that crap off the prop!
From what it sounded like in there very limited trials earlier, she’s either very light or possibly under pitched in the prop slightly, didn’t seem to be at full fuel rate at the governor, but dame also may have not been giving her full beans on such a fresh engine.
Cost of prospeed folks is well worth it in the long run
Have you guys done any sea trials with the stabilizer wings down?
Not yet. Next thing to test on the list
@@ProjectBrupeg Nice. I am looking forward to it.
Why are there so many cooling pipes on starboard side?
The pipes on port side is normal for a boat this size. But starboard side looks ridiculous, looks like you have a big freezer cargo hole.
Starboard is the main engine. Its normal to have that many pipes in tropical waters as the water is so warm you need the surface area
Jess, could you post a list of the music you use for your channel please?
yo
please don't paint your prop blabes just a bit on the hub will do
your diesel has a great exhaust note, puts a smile on the face every time,
Loving the progress guys, can’t wait to follow you on your first expedition!
Is Brupeg 1:1 on the gearbox? From the little audio I’ve heard prior to this it seemed like she was either very light or maybe slightly under pitched, but there’s really not enough to get a good handle where I’m sitting Dame would have a better feeling than I could. I just couldn’t remember back to the gearbox episode if it was a direct box or not.
Was just waiting for my Sunday evening fix!
We did the same thing with our lines on our US Coast Guard boats.
Brupeg is looking great. Your docking approaches are improving but still they remind me of Captain Ron movie. You had the wind almost in your bow so I agree that you needed some speed but if you had slowed down a little the wind would have helped you to stop. Just relax and enjoy the helm.
In true Brupeg tradition, Team work makes the dream work.
Dame & Jess, is Stu okay? Sending a Brupeg welfare check
Honestly dont know, we stopped talking with them a few years back
Hi gang !!
Amazing little swell and/ or waves she makes for a 50-55 tons ship....
Allda bestest from swedish mikke... ;-D 👍⚙️🛠️⛏️🔨☕⚓
I wonder if acid primer would be a better first coat for the prop. Like when you'll do the next major soil haul, pull the prop, blast it with a high grit and then acid primer it before putting paint on it.
never paint a prop
Glad to see your generator lift was a simple 1.
After shore welding you could go to cheap moring.
Still amazed at all you have done.
It gives me great pleasure to see what you’ve all accomplished, you must be so proud .Shes a credit to you all .
The antifoul will not stay on the steel without you get a good few layers of alkaloyding paint on first. This paint bonds to the steel using electrolysis and the steel needs to be fairly clean. Level 2 i think. You then need to put your base coat on before antifouling otherwise all your hard work will come to nothing in a few months. Regards the anodes. It looks as if they had poor contact with the steel of the hull and so they were unable to work. Hope this is useful. I learned the hard way. Good luck

I'm so curious 🤔 to see how the wings effect the handling of the boat while underway. It's good to see you back in the water where she belongs. 😊
After you paint the prop melt candle wax put it on there it works so good. And cheap.
Need to keep her out of mud.lol
have a question about the prop is it steel or bronze and if its steel sgouldny it be bronze?
It’s marine bronze
Good mates drop in. How is Stewie doing these days all that way south?
Not sure. We haven’t spoken to Stu and going on 2 1/2 three years.
Fantastic to see the lady moving around pretty good now out of that wheelchair.
My eye twitches for the lack of propspeed
Agreed. However, we have no more Lamborghini’s we can trade in for a can of propspeed just yet.
AWESOME..!
A question. is your propeller bronze? I so why does the copper content not prevent the growth upon it?
The anodes probably prevent copper ion release from the prop if it's bare.
😊😊😊
Just went back to see if I missed the install of the genset and I don't think so. It did get on the boat but...?? What's happening there?
Boats going g back to the work dock and we will cut the deck open, drop the genset and weld the deck closed
@@ProjectBrupeg Yipee. I ain't slipping a cog yet! Thanks for replying. Love ALL of your content.
team effort well done gang stay safe all
Humans cant invent an economical coating that will stick to spinning props. Meanwhile, nature says, hold my beer, and gives usvthe barnacle - spinning prop, no problem!
"You make me wanna sing, so i do".......(watching from PALMY NZ) .... what a beaut boat...ship.... the SOLAR array looks freakin awesome. Well done team. Thanks for sharing!!
With a good clean bottom Brubeg really moves nicely thru the water . Great Boat , great crew , great videos w/ great music couldn't ask for more thanks always . san diego , Ca USA
Barnacle Removal and painting ASMR. ;)
Whoo hoo First comment! Good show Guys!!
Beat you by 15 seconds!
@@liftmanleigh lol I was trying.
Pit stop, long nights, back on the water, tied upby the fishing boats.
hi guys the boat is looking well dun.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😄
Great effort by all involved, but you guy's need to take a couple of day's off, big Bar B Que, and lots of beers.
doesnt one for just in case cancel out two for good luck??
I was startled by the amount of growth on the prop in such a short time.
Looking might fine
Looking good!
I got a question do barnacles from less when the boat is in constant motion?
Yes growth is slower on a boat in constant service, it still happens just at a slower rate.
I also wonder, considering the Burpeg's docked at a river mouth.
Will the freshwater be having an influence on the marine growth on the hull?
We are close enough to the sea that it’s likely 98% plus salt water
Another thought, if you went further up River to where it's mostly freshwater and spent a few days in fresh water could that be a way to inhibit or kill marine growth?
Awesome docking skills!
Thanks mate
Have you hired a bottom cleaner (diver) to clean the bottom every month and check/change your anodes?
I think his name is Dame!😂
Shouldn’t be needed much once she’s underway more often.
Generally, sailing boats have more of a problem with excessive fouling because they, on average, move through the water slower so the growth doesn’t get shed off the antifouled surfaces through the scrubbing action of water flow.
Staying tied up in or near marinas is about the worst situation because the water, always more nutrient laden close to land, has the added “richness” from overboard discharge of grey and black water from your own and neighbouring boats.
A regular good run out at reasonable speed makes a world of difference.
As for the anodes, from what I saw they’re using weld-on types, not bolt-on which are common on composite yachts.
Replacing weld-ons can be done when afloat but the cost of contracting underwater welding is wallet puckering.
The anodes should ideally be sufficient to at least last between annual haul-outs, with a little extra for the periods when a lift isn’t convenient at the time.
Dear Jess and Damian,
So good to see how nice and quick the hull of Brupeg was cleaned and got a fresh layer of Antifouling. Willeke and I look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
