Roger had 3 children with his first wife ... They were still young when he married Ann-Margret, and she was supposedly very close to them. Sounds like they had a great mixed family
I was a little afraid that he would not be a good husband to her back then. Boy I’m glad to say I was so wrong! They’ve had a wonderful marriage all these years. She was so right about him. Lovely to be able to say this. So sorry for your loss Annie. 🌹
Roger Smith was so handsome and charming. I used to watch him on the’60s detective series “77 Sunset Strip.” He had been married to actress Victoria Shaw, then married Ann-Margaret. They remained together for many years until his death.
Allan always intros Carol as a "Comic", she's really a comedic actress . She never did "standup" like a comic. Splitting hairs,,,,,,i know. . . . LOL She is smart as hell !
Carol was pregnant here, and had her last child in August, 1968. It's weird that I have no memory of her being pregnant on her TV series, but it's probably because she wasn't far along in her pregnancy when the first season finished production, which would have been in the winter of 1968.
I wonder if this was the Roger Smith the old Hotel Roger Smith that was/still is (and if so likely in another form) on 31st and Madison Avenue in Manhattan was named for?
@Kirk Barkley There’s nothing wrong with aging. No one lives forever. Are we supposed to look like we did in our 20’s when we’re in our 60’s and 70’s? That would be very weird.
. Anybody know if the show from Wednesday, 12/7/1966, never aired........or is simply now "lost" ?? EDIT: Hmm.....just realized the above date would have been the 25th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor......is it just possible the show might have been preempted that day for commemoration of that historic event ?? 🤔 .
I used to live in So. Cal. , years ago. Often I heard people on the radio who were at least 60 years of age in the 1990's say "Los angle lees" , never "low saanng eluus". Heard former Mayor Sam Yorty say it and News anchor / radio man George Putnam, and others also. The letters LA came about by the "Dodgers" Baseball Team Cap.
Sanforize. Sanforization is the process of treating cotton fabrics to reduce the amount of shrinkage that would otherwise occur after the first wash. During the sanforization process, the fabric is fed into a sanforizing machine where it is treated with water or steam to promote shrinkage, then pressed against a heated rubber band to relax and recontract the fibers. This ensures the fabric will shrink no more than 5% after it is washed for the first time, as opposed to a potential 10% for unsanforized fabrics. What does it have to do with Raw Denim? Denim comes in two types: That which has been sanforized, and that which has not (AKA “Unsanforized denim”). Unsanforized denim will shrink a few inches in the waist and inseam when it is first soaked, hence Levi’s aptly-named “Shrink-To-Fit” denim. Sanforized denim shrinks is generally considered to be “pre-shrunk”, and therefore does not need to be sized up or down accordingly.
. Just asked that very same thing.......before realizing that would have been the 25th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and wonder if it's just possible they were preempted on that day ?? 🤔 .
Roger Smith seems to be given a disproportionate amount of time to give his clues. Usually Allen is telling the celebrities, “Five seconds..here’s your time..” etc.
Roger Smith was way better than Elvis. He had the smarts to value and marry Ann Margaret. He was faithful to her. Elvis was ruined by fame and Col. Parker.
Toni Benedict: Actually, if you watch the several other times she was on Password, she did well. I was never a fan of her TV program or her "style", but she played PW better than many Celebs.
Roger was always so handsome, We love and miss you! The Smith family
yes
I wonder why they didn't have any children?

Roger Smith and Ann-Margret celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 8, 2017. He passed away less than a month later at age 84.
M.O'Riley And boy, did she take care of him!
Marriages like that of Roger Smith and Ann-Margret's are very rare in Hollywood.
@@rockaway2k She loved him so much.

Wooooow!❤️
🐻 That was so SWEET of Rodger to bring Carol’s baby a present 💝 ! Blessings from California. 👶
I have always loved Carol Burnett. I remember watching her show late at night. Her laugh is so contagious, and her humor is so spontaneous.
:) I was a month short of being a year old when this one aired . Cool .
Thinking how much nicer people and things were back then
Total illusion. I was there. People are always more or less the same.
Love Carol on Password! Roger Smith was so handsome and I love the vest he is wearing! So suave. Happy marriage to Ann-Margret!
Carol looks great to be less than 6 weeks to delivering baby Jody!
This is like a time warp to my early youth....
I like Mr Smith's waistcoat.
Roger Smith was so good in the movie "Auntie Mame."
These older editions are nothing less than fantastic.
Roger Smith was gorgeous.
He sure had a great vest!
He was so attractive in the film Auntie Mame...❤
Wow! from 1966. These are great! thanks for posting.
TV's not the same no more. Don't talk about God we don't talk about families. Need to make TV Great again.
These are fun, but there's still too much religion and commercialism on TV.
I'll bet she still has those dolls.
Her daughter, Carrie, died from cancer 20 or so years ago. 😢
And-Margret was a lucky woman to have married Roger and for fifty years until he passed.
Methinks you have that backwards. He was lucky to have a good-looking and compliant wife.
13:34 Very very cute moment!
thanks!
Roger Smith was so handsome and charming. I used to watch him on the’60s detective series “77 Sunset Strip.” He had been married to actress Victoria Shaw, then married Ann-Margaret. They remained together for many years until his death.
The contestant, Carolyn, looks a lot like Judy Garland as an adult.
Soulaesthete I thought she looked like Patsy Cline.
Bumbershoot for umbrella 🌂.
Psychiatrist for shrink.
I'm surprised they let Roger away with saying '. . . do it the long way around" before giving the clue "wealth" to rhyme, & she got "health' from it.

Yes she did do stand up.
Roger Smith was too cool to suffer from MS, but he did; diagnosed in 1965.
I actually had no idea he had suffered from MS for so long!!!
At 12:05 I would have maybe given the clue, "Brackets…"
I was thinking "brackets" too
would have worked. I was reading the comments first without knowing the word and I guessed parenthesis from your clue.
Of course. It would help if Americans knew the English language and grammar. Brackets should’ve been the very first word said right away.
Ann Margaret
This was the year before Roger Smith and Ann-Margret married.
I always enjoyed Allen's outstretched upward open palm gesture, just seemed so welcoming.
Amazing that folks say they watch this show all the time, yet the fast reuse of words and the exact same clues given always brings wrong answers.
The woman is a Judy Garland look a like.

No, it was part of a small corporate chain started before the actor was born
Age is so cruel: particularly to the good-looking-when-young-folks! (would never know Roger Smith or Tony Curtis for instance, as old men.)

Young Andrei here, looks familiar. I'm surprised Carol did not have eyes for him as he was quite, dashing.

May 8 th , 1967 they got married. They were married for FIFTY years. 🕊

Roger is a nice guy, but he brain freezes way too much for this show.
In password , I thought you could pass if you didn't want to go first ?
I think that was a rule they added a bit later. 🤔
@@kingskidgirl2 Correct. It was very helpful, well to one side anyway, 😉.
well you could always let the time run out.
Thought you could pass if you didn't want to go first ? That's why it was called password.
It was called password because in order to be a contestant, you had to say what word you would use if you were making a pass at someone.
There was a later version of the show, and they were allowed to pass if they wanted to. You also would add the answers to complete a puzzle. 🦊
Burnett was a crappy player
Either way, she still loved playing and we all enjoyed watching her.
Toni Benedict: Actually, if you watch the several other times she was on Password, she did well. I was never a fan of her TV program or her "style", but she played PW better than many Celebs.
she cheated a lot by intimidating the opponent by screaming out like she knows what the word is on their turn.
