I would say that this is a very American view of Poland. Still the video was quite good, he's not an expert on poland just a tourist and I think his perspective is valid when it comes to visiting us. I'm sure someone else could go to the same places and notice completely different things and interpret them differently.
In the video he said that Poland has not got any fast trains. Correction. As an Australian visitor I rode on a very fast intercity train. These Polish inter-city trains get up to 300 kph. They are a comfortable and smooth ride but the ticket prices are high.
You might want to make a reaction video about the oldest Polish anthem, Bogurodzica. This hymn was sung by Polish knights before clashing with enemy armies, including the one against the Teutonic Knights in 1410, also during coronations and other key events in our medieval history.
It's always interesting for me when someone speaks well about Poland and think it's beautiful. I mean, I feel the same but still it's like - really, you like it? I live in Warsaw but Wrocław and Kraków are prettier. I've never seen Gdańsk as an adult, so I won't say a thing about this city - but people say it's gorgeous. And landscapes are amazing. We have nature everywhere. And of course people look ass if they don't want to talk and just leave them alone, but when you really connect with, you will know we are super funny and like share experiances. Also I can see there is cheaper for someone from West but for us Poland is expensive.
Thank you for your reaction. A couple of comments on the video: 1. In terms of facial expressions - it seems to me that there is no difference regarding Europeans. This is an American perception, where friendly facial expressions and often small talk with strangers are polite behaviors. In Europe, someone smiling without reason would seem suspicious. 2. Poles are indeed more religious than most of Western Europe, but it certainly cannot be called deep religiousness. Many of the religious conducts are customized - often treated as part of our national culture. Even non-believers, and most non-practitioners, get married in church, baptize their children, or hallow Easter foods. This is a common misconception made by foreigners. 3. Maybe the service providers are not always nice, but comparing their behavior with the restaurateurs of Paris or Rome, it is still a heaven and earth difference.

Im saying this as sb living in old town Warsaw; also trains and inter city transport is faster due to infrastructure development; Waw > Gdansk is now 3h by train prolly 4h by car
The thing with polish churches, is that they are not only religious buildings. In many cases they are the only remaining reminiscence of Polish history and culture (i.g. architecture and art).
(i am a pole ) i had to say it for it to make sense i remember once when i was going to church i saw a young guy who was just sitting and watching something before church, and i was so shocked at first i was like oh my wtf is he doing and then i remembered that not everyone was religious, later i found out he was from germany and he just wanted to sit down, i remember that to this day (when it happened, the belivers were like 92% of population in Poland) and it was outrageous to just sit and watch in front of church (i hope it makes sense im sorry i am NOT good with long sentences)

Polish people don't have sad faces, that have neutral faces. When we are faced with emotions, we will express those, no problem. Poles might be a bit more reserved in expressing their emotions, but that's alright too. As for the religiosity, plenty of people declare to be Catholics (recent polls say that over 90% of people declare themselves as Catholics). With actual practice, that's obviously different, there's plenty of people who only visit churches on funerals or weddings. As for the service, I'd say it's not bad, it's just very not intrusive. Polish people like to be left alone when eating. I think the standard in Poland is to approach the customer to offer them a menu and then come back after a short while to take your order and then during the meal to approach the customer again to ask if everything is alright. If you need the waiter for anything else, you let them know and they will approach you no problem. There are places where you order at the counter and then the service there is minimal, at most you will have your meal brought to the table and that's it, but this is more in those smaller, very busy joints that serve the tourists (from Poland) like at the seaside where you order a fish with fries or something like this. As for tourists, it depends on where you go. Obviously Poland is not the most popular tourist destination in the world, but if you go to Warszawa to Stare Miasto, there will always be tourists there from all over the world: Brits, Chinese, Indian and so on. There are touristy places and there are places where there are no tourists whatsoever. As for affordability - you need to take into account, that prices did go up after the COVID and now in relation to war.

They stare, for few seconds. 2. indeed poland is very catholic, mostly by the fact that almost every child there is baptised few weeks after bith (even if parents arent church people). The food is allright i guess, but i think italian, spanish, romanian, croatian has more interesting things to offer. 6. Poland has almost everything, the mountains, sea, old towns. But it doesnt excell at anything particular. All of Poland is beautifull but, there are better mountains in slovakia or in alps, better seas at meditterean, pretier cities in italy. The one thing that we have better than anyone (imo) are our lakes and forests, the quiet, the clear water, its a very good place to spend your holidays. 10. Unfortunately, many topics in this film have become outdated. It was 6 years ago, and believe me (I live in the Netherlands and see that every time I visit) Poland is changing very fast. Economically and culturally. Such as the Catholic faith and religiosity. People's participation in church life is decreasing dramatically every year. Luckily. The young generation, i.e. 16-25 years old, has mostly abandoned the faith. Of course, in surveys, when asked what faith you are, 90% of Poles answer Catholic. I am also of the Catholic faith (an atheist for many years), so what, it's a tradition that is no longer passed on. Polish language can be HARD (I know). I lived in UK for 11 years and my British friends know this well and have that problem. Polish cuisine is not only cabbage and potatoes. Oh no no no. Yes, we have recipes for the best cabbage and potato dishes. That's true. But we have plenty of other delicious Polish dishes, plus various regional dishes in different places in Poland. It's like being in France and saying later that you ate every dish with wine, frog legs and snails. I lived in Wales, England, Germany and the Netherlands, and can assure you that Polish cuisine is best in that group. And not coz Im polish. Oh, and Poland is not so cheap anymore. SADLY. It's still cheaper, when you compared to Germany, the Netherlands or France, but like I said it dynamically changing. What shocked me is how Poland is CLEAN in comparison with West. As for the service, yes it is true. It's at a low level. We still need time to improve this, if we succeed at all.
People in Poland are not deeply religious. There are still many people who go to church regularly, but the numbers are dercresing. Religion is still very important for older generation but younger people walk away from the church and scandals among clergy contribute to that. The number of churches and the number of people who are christened do not reflect the actual attitude to faith. I was raised Catholic and both my grandmas were devoted Catholics but I myself stopped going to church years ago.

4. Polish is one of the hardest languages, but in poland (especially in touristic places) almost everyone knows basic english, so you can get what you need. And yes, saying some wards in polish like dzień dobry, dziękuję always makes us happy (even more if you know some polish swear words)
5. The food is allright i guess, but i think italian, spanish, romanian, croatian has more interesting things to offer.
6. Poland has almost everything, the mountains, sea, old towns. But it doesnt excell at anything particular. All of Poland is beautifull but, there are better mountains in slovakia or in alps, better seas at meditterean, pretier cities in italy. The one thing that we have better than anyone (imo) are our lakes and forests, the quiet, the clear water, its a very good place to spend your holidays.
10. Tbh i never experienced any bad service in Poland (maybe once, but we left before ordering anything because they didnt have what we wanted) I dont know about typical touristic restaurants, the service is very underpaid and the tips are a big part of their salary so they try their best.

Potatoes are important in Polish cuisine, just like pasta is important for Italians and rice for Asians... and cabbage is simply very healthy and cheap ;) this man is a bit like this and says: in my country we have this and this and here is that and that haha ha :( Due to many tourists, prices have gone up and for an average Pole who does not earn as much as, for example, an Englishman, it is expensive and the service is actually not the best... habits from communist times

It was 6 years ago, and believe me (I live in the Netherlands and see that every time I visit) Poland is changing very fast.
Economically and culturally.
Such as the Catholic faith and religiosity. People's participation in church life is decreasing dramatically every year.
Luckily.
The young generation, i.e. 16-25 years old, has mostly abandoned the faith.
Of course, in surveys, when asked what faith you are, 90% of Poles answer Catholic.
I am also of the Catholic faith (an atheist for many years), so what, it's a tradition that is no longer passed on.
Polish language can be HARD (I know). I lived in UK for 11 years and my British friends know this well and have that problem.
Polish cuisine is not only cabbage and potatoes. Oh no no no.
Yes, we have recipes for the best cabbage and potato dishes. That's true.
But we have plenty of other delicious Polish dishes, plus various regional dishes in different places in Poland.
It's like being in France and saying later that you ate every dish with wine, frog legs and snails.
I lived in Wales, England, Germany and the Netherlands, and can assure you that Polish cuisine is best in that group. And not coz Im polish.
Oh, and Poland is not so cheap anymore. SADLY.

What shocked me is how Poland is CLEAN in comparison with West.
As for the service, yes it is true. It's at a low level. We still need time to improve this, if we succeed at all.
People in Poland are not deeply religious. There are still many people who go to church regularly, but the numbers are dercresing. Religion is still very important for older generation but younger people walk away from the church and scandals among clergy contribute to that. The number of churches and the number of people who are christened do not reflect the actual attitude to faith. I was raised Catholic and both my grandmas were devoted Catholics but I myself stopped going to church years ago.
