Real nice Jerry. There was a woman Nancy Kalin who lived just south of Hartville who was a well known primitive restoration designer who lost her house to fire. A family member helped her design her new one.....I wish you could see her kitchen and fire place it was as warm as I have ever seen. And you obviously understand that.
1 thing extends the life of a log cabin is? A roof and porch all the way around to keep the rain off the sides, and treating the logs every 2 years to help protect the logs from rain and moisture This also cuts down on insect from eating the cabin down. THEY LOOK AT A LOG CABIN AS A LOAF OF BREAD
Great job man ! Sorry for my video misunderstanding, but as I can see this 1800s cabin wasn't there in place. You dismantled the previous shack and then rebuilt the old cabin. So where did you get the original 1800s wooden framework ? Thanks for clarification.
The old cabin was about 20 miles away from my house and in very very bad shape. I took it down moved it to my house and built the cabin with that lumber.
There is a risk in everything you do in life. From eating a cheeseburger from McDonald’s to building a bonfire in your kitchen, but it is actually less of a risk.
ALWAYS enjoy your videos, and so envious of your final product! The Cabin is great, and you are so blessed to be skilled taking on such a big job!
Thanks Ralph!
I love seeing old stuff coming back to life.
You're a clever lad Jerry. God bless your endeavors and the Christian fellowship that happens around your table
Thank you my brother
Ohio here too. Beautiful cabin! Pine trees in front would be perfect.
I WISH we could watch all those old building videos 🙏
What a great cabin, thank you for sharing. Someday maybe I'll be brave enough to attempt something like this.
Great cabin, Brother.
Thanks

And keep the firewood away from the cabin.
@@earnestbass4043 GOOD TIP! I agree 👍👍 FAR AWAY ~ i made my fire place into a Natural Gas fire place
Living the life like I do is trying to disconnect not connect! I burn more than 10 cords of wood every year.
Beautiful log cabin.
Good work. I like your build.
You are truly blessed!
Thanks Mary!

@@logcabinlifestyle Huge job! Congrats !
Yes it was quite a lot of work!! Thank you
Great work repurposing these old logs! Cabin looks great! What wood did you use for the board & batten?
It’s the same oak that I used on the floor. The stain is steel wool and vinegar. It just oxidizes the wood
Seems like having the chimney and fireplace inside the cabin would be a greater fire risk. What am I missing?

2/29/2020. A day I’ll not forget. They day I got married to the man who’d love to share a log cabin life with me!!! ❤️
Awesome!!
