That roof construction is beautiful. Well, the whole thing is stunning, but I really love the pinned oak. And the barn door kitchen is ingenious. You have done such a brilliant job.

I don’t know how you popped up in my recommendations but probably because I’ve already been subscribed to several log cabin living channels, including now yours as well.I must say out of all the ones I’ve been following yours is the most unique in how you transformed a garage into an authentic log cabin all while remaining attached to your pre-existing modern home. The “building a fireplace” was the first video that popped up from there i was hooked.Great job!!!

You did a fantastic job. Traditional and authentic. You hammered the details, the old school flare. It's a masterpiece to everyone that loves that old style look and feel. Like me, and the hundreds of others that are watching your videos and/or subscribing to your channel.

Talk about determination to have a cabin, and making the most of your resources. What a journey and transformation the cabin has become. I am subscribed, and am inspired by your commitments to your own personal vision. Incredible, thank you so much for sharing.
My take away is that I should continue with my shop/bungalow that also started with beautiful double hung 1920’s Craftsman windows, wavy glass intact. Different time period but my personal inspiration.
Again, thank you for posting. Now it’s time for some apple dumplings.😃

Thank you much friend! Some day I’ll share all of the story. It’s deep! A man lost and on his death bed. It was the cabin and the one who made it possible that saved me and turned me into this man I am today. As for you. A wise man once told me one log at a time. Pick one little project and see it through, then move to the next one. Before you know it it will be done and you won’t even know how.

I like the door inside a door idea, some real creative inspiration there. How much sleep did you lose scheming that one up?

Great job with that door! Very well thought out and execution. In fact the whole cabin is fantastic. I do have one question about your trusses. Did you say that they were new cuts of wood? If so, as they dry out will they warp or twist in any way?

Love your work so far on the cabin! As for the loft...I hope you keep it open, to appreciate the high ceiling & see the full length of the fireplace/chimney...and hope you put in a rustic, wood railing for safety reasons. You could have some kind of curtain that can be drawn across the open area for when you have a guest sleeping up there. Perhaps a canvas material similar to covered wagon canvas? Or a homemade quilt?

Really cool stuff. Where are you located in Ohio? I dream of building a log cabin. Love the foxfire book series. Do you let people check out your cabin?

I'm surprised you chose a metal roof. It probably sounds like a rain stick.

That's a shame. A modern kitchen??? NO NO NO. You have to make it look like the rest of the cabin man. Same with the rest of the mobile.

I built a very very small 21st century "chimney flue", nothing fancy, strong and accident free... no flue fires. I really haven't used it much. It doesn't really heat much. Even has a pilot light glass window. My husband is a pilot. He went on to a 2nd marriage. I wonder?.. Is that "captain, oh captain"? Because I became the preachers wife... noadultery.imIf you ever would like a 21st century chimney flue to improve upon, your skills are much better than mine. It has almost every medium a chimney flue of normal size consists of and it is made in the USA Illinois land of Lincoln. Not cheap, although you wouldn't know it by looking at it. Have a blessed day.
