I love that Minny yelled for Celia to help her. She and Celia formed such a special bond, and she knew after so many years of being abused by her bosses that Celia would be there for her, not as an employer but as her friend!
Minny knows that Celia can empathize with her abusive experiences from her husband since Celia came from Sugar Ditch, which kinda implies that she herself went through abuse too.

So he already knew WAY back in the beginning of the story. After he found Minnie in the house, she offered to make him a BLT before he left the house. He was so excited he even asked for pork chops for the next week.
Minnie and Celia was my favourite part of the movie. Their relationship was so special, 2 women struggling with their problems but holding together no matter what
What's sad is that one group of people deliberately took brutal actions over many centuries, to strike fear into another group for the sake of power and money. That's the problem. Fear is a natural reaction.
@anitagoodman4657 ummmm, it wasn't common knowledge that drinking while pregnant was bad. The help was based around the 1960s, and during that time period, doctors would regularly prescribe alcohol to pregnant women to help manage pain.( im not saying a doctor told her to drink but that should tell you how she thought she was safe.) It wasn't until 1981 that through better technology, better training for doctors that it was a very bad thing to drink while pregnant..
For everyone thinking him addressing her as “girl” was cute…. This is what I didn’t get about Celia hiding Minnie from Johnny. He doesn’t seem to be a particularly cruel person and when they do meet, he’s really accepting of Minnie’s presence and even is grateful for her help
The book went into a little more detail, Celia was already terrified Johnny would leave her because she couldn't carry a baby full term so she wanted him to believe she could at least keep a house clean and cook by herself. She intended to tell him about Minny once she was pregnant and further along.
Hated the book, all my friends loved it. BUT after seeing all these clips I gotta see the movie, the acting is way past Oscar quality, and everything about it seems like it’s a classic. Thanks to whoever is posting these and all the great comments.
The Help is a movie about black women who work as maids for white women in Jackson, Mississippi. Growing tired of how they were treated by the color of their skin, they compiled stories of their experiences, and published a book with the help of a young journalist. Minny was hired by Celia in secret because Celia thought her husband would lose interest in her if she wasn't a good wife. She was bad at cooking, and employed Minny to help her. Celia and her husband have tried having children but each time, she had a miscarriage. And each time she had one, she didnt tell her husband and buried her babies in her garden. She was worried her husband wouldn't love her anymore because of it, but thankfully he understood and still loves her for who she is. Celia is genuine and sweet. I love her character. Minny too. Great movie. I recommend it
This scene twists my heart a bit even though this was meant to be humorous. In the movie Minny’s own husband would hit her. Imagining a white man who might have been angry could’ve done anything he wanted to this poor lady. She was scared for her life when he hopped out the car like that. 😮
Celia and Johnny’s relationship was the healthiest one in the entire movie.

Btw not down playing it at all I just felt like that was a stupid example that is really not a hardship and kinda diminished all the actual struggles that occurred
I suggest you to read who was the head of slavery business in Africa who sold out black folks and what was going before black people taken to America as slaves. It wasn’t the white people making the selection and business. It’s always game theory.
@@AmberHarrington-kf1tj it was dehumanizing and was meant to keep them in their place.
What’s victimhood mentality is that…From where I came from, we call our employers sir and ma’am…
Getting hurt by men is such a real threat for women, and back then for her even more. 😢❤
In the book, she was home cleaning when he happened to walk in with an axe. He had just been chopping down a tree. He found her in their master bedroom. So he already knew WAY back in the beginning of the story. After he found Minnie in the house, she offered to make him a BLT before he left the house. He was so excited he even asked for pork chops for the next week.
Minnie and Celia was my favourite part of the movie. Their relationship was so special, 2 women struggling with their problems but holding together no matter what
that “girl” was so sassy 😂
So sad when you become afraid of people and the fear to run.
Never a shock. But sad none the less.
What's sad is that one group of people deliberately took brutal actions over many centuries, to strike fear into another group for the sake of power and money. That's the problem. Fear is a natural reaction.
The two parents that deserve kids can't have them
How does an alcoholic that drinks while pregnant deserve to have babies?
@anitagoodman4657 ummmm, it wasn't common knowledge that drinking while pregnant was bad. The help was based around the 1960s, and during that time period, doctors would regularly prescribe alcohol to pregnant women to help manage pain.( im not saying a doctor told her to drink but that should tell you how she thought she was safe.) It wasn't until 1981 that through better technology, better training for doctors that it was a very bad thing to drink while pregnant..
MOVIE NAME
This family and Minny was what made this whole thing palpable. I loved their story.
No wonder Hilly was so butthurt. Johnny was handsome and an amazing husband.
She didnt deserve him
@@mominor6913💯 plus Celia is her own unique person, and refused to be apart of that racist group or society.
They way he said "Girl.." was so sassy 😂
I think Celia and Minnie's friendship was one of my fave parts of the movie. And Viola totally deserved the Oscar nom. ❤
Hahaha “girl!”
For everyone thinking him addressing her as “girl” was cute…. Minnie was a grown, adult woman. “Girl” and “Boy” were terms used regularly during that time by white people when addressing adult black people. It was meant to demean and infantilize them and “keep them in their place.”
Just because this specific character’s intentions were good doesn’t mean he was not using a racist, demeaning slur.
@@calisongbirdits not like that anymore sooo

Octavia Spencer always rocks in every character she is given to perform🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰Love her acting in every movie.......Gonna watch this movie too😊
She needed a caring friend and she got one.😢❤❤️🩹💯
If anyone’s wondering this is the help. Both a book and a movie. The book and movie is really good.
how that movie called, I don't see the name here
@@justsubliminal2496 It's called "The help"
Or am I getting woooshed here?
I love this couple and mini being their maid. They were super respectful and loved her like family.
“Minnie don't burn chicken!” my favorite line in the movie!
Watching your videos when I'm sad is so comforting😅. It makes me happy
The way he says "Gurrl" always cracks me up! 😂😂
Celia is so special. That guy is lucky. Celia and Mini deserve each other
I love this lady so much
Her acting the part most are afraid to remember. And her energy is priceless.
Thank you for being a being
This is giving, "why are you running? WHY ARE YOU RUNNING? "
What is the name of the movie pleaseee
The Help 🥇🥇💯💯
“The Help” - A great movie 🌸 I’m sure the book was even better.
Hated the book, all my friends loved it. BUT after seeing all these clips I gotta see the movie, the acting is way past Oscar quality, and everything about it seems like it’s a classic. Thanks to whoever is posting these and all the great comments.
I liked when Celia was jumping and waving for Minny...without any shoes on. And Minny was like, "oh lordy not another crazy white woman"
That’s a good man right there. And he loves her cause she’s a good woman and good for his wife. That’s a man
The Help is a movie about black women who work as maids for white women in Jackson, Mississippi.
I recommend it
Honestly i didn't expect Johnny to be such an amazing guy. He was the only husband who was pretty cool. He was such a perfect match for Celia
Her acting is truly something to behold, what a gem ❤
Excellent excellent movie. Tears. Laughs. Mad. Sad. Heartwarming. Perfect !
I love how Minny felt in danger but her first thought was to alert Celia
What’s the movie???
Gen Z, please read a history book or two. Minny had every reason to beleive he would k!ll her and the fact that he thanked her instead is a HUGE deal.
You say Gen Z as if they didn't teach us about slavery and racism, we're not dumb
@@audyarts4409you're definitely dumber than every other generation that existed.
This movie is one of my favourites, I literally just rewatched it last night. I absolutely love Octavia Spencer, she is a very talented actress . 😊
What movie is this?
The Help
@@JoyAdam-d4x thank you❤️
"fried chicken and okra the first night?!..."😂😂😂. Yeah... Real Busted.
This scene twists my heart a bit even though this was meant to be humorous. In the movie Minny’s own husband would hit her. Imagining a white man who might have been angry could’ve done anything he wanted to this poor lady. She was scared for her life when he hopped out the car like that. 😮
Right!!
Johnny and Celia were just my favorite people in the world. I love them so much
Guys, what is this movie called? Please tell me.😅😅
"Girl.." had me laughing ngl
