To anybody not understanding what "your bit" or "my bit" means, in Glasgow when you are young you would say to your friends or vice versa, "Al get ye doon at ma bit" which translates as "I will get you near my house, within a street or two" 👍

It's called LEARNING stuff, mate... Or is it cos like me, you're in yer 50s now and you can't remember what you did YESTERDAY?! But somehow you can remember mad shite you did when you were a teenager picture-perfectly!
For my adhd assessment day I walked into the shrink with the contents of my handbag (couldn’t find the handbag) hair unbrushed (see above) odd socks and couldn’t focus on the questions kept going off on tangents. Asked at the end “do I have adhd” shrink laughed at me and said “yes but, did you need me to tell you” I have never felt so called out in my life
Most comedians has ADHD, it is an advantage in that kind of work. Hyper focus, very observant about your surroundings and good stories, quick collecting info etc. from the audience and replying to situations and so on.
You've also just described autism and in any case: comedians are a sample of wider society, not a homogenous group, and it's hard enough to diagnose ourselves impossible to diagnose someone you know well let alone someone you've never met via their onstage persona

Riviera’s work in the govt. buildings at the Zocalo; and in San Francisco *can* be compared to Frieda’s paintings. Different media, different style; different intention.
The only thing I'd argue is that ADHD & ASD aren't mental illnesses, you're more likely to suffer from depression & anxiety which are mental illnesses though. Got a son with both and I'm going through the process of seeing if I have both as well (more than likely) but got to pay a few quid to get the official tick.
Bang on, was given the medical cosh for over 10yrs to treat anxiety and depression before my Dr changed and the new one tested and then referred me. Helped loads, life and society is still hard to navigate but it’s a lot easier to explain why and deal with it now. If you got the few quid to do it, go for it, was on the waiting list nearly 3years before my final assessment. Good luck to you and your son on your journeys.
I've had both for 22 years. Gave up seeking treatment after learning if you have them more than 10 years they affect the brain, shrinking 2 parts and enlarging another. So basically antidepressants, antianxiety pills and therapy isn't going to work on me. My brain has inflammation. I've already decided since age 11 (after having them for 2 years by this point) I was going to kill myself when the time is right. I'll be 31 this year, that time is when my cat passes away. Could be another 10-12 years, either way.. I'm out. Though I hope you get the treatment you need if that's what you want.
@@Kat-mu8wq I'll be 45 this year, so you're ahead of me with diagnosis. Was married to a narcissist who would constantly gas light me and since separating X-mas 2016 has used our children as pieces in a game to still control me. Now on to you from what you have typed, this is very upsetting to hear that you are living like this. I won't pretend to know how your life has been or what you are going through but can empathise with what you said. Medication never helped me with my depression & anxiety and I have contemplated ending it myself. What has helped is talking to a counsellor to express my feelings so that I wasn't just feeling like I was constantly in the wrong for how I felt or acted. Go seek some outside help please or if you have trusted friends or family, start there. It's a hard process and one that I am still working through as well and believe I will be till the end. I can't promise life will get easier but it can get better and should hopefully offset those tough times.
It’s OK Kev; the concept of the Rabbit Hole in relation to getting lost in discovery was a Wikipedia invention - hence, “wiki black hole”. How did I find this piece of information? I no longer remember. And that means it’s completely normal.
To be fair it was introduced into everyday language by Lewis Carroll in Alice in Wonderland, 130 yrs odd before Wikipedia, referencing the rabbit hole Alice falls into ie getting lost deep in something and not really understanding how you got there. The ‘wiki black hole’ is a fairly recent evolution from the original.

Not many good uk stand ups these days actively making comedy, you're one of them! Great stuff
