I have a soft yellow house with light blue trim. So I painted my doors royal purple. I love the way the contrast.
Wow that is very interesting. I have a yellow house and would never think of purple. haha! If you don't mind me asking, what is your roof color?
@@ChaiLatte13 its a drk grey asphalt shingle deal. I painted all of my exterior buildings to match the house. My front door has a FLW style stained glass panel and side lights. It looks really good. I wish I could post a picture.
@@LambentLark Very cool!! It sounds really awesome.
@@ChaiLatte13 I'm moving soon. The place we're thinking about buying has metal roofs in different colors. If we do get it, I have to figure out how to paint them without it ending up peeling and a mess after a couple snowy winters. Also they have to remain slick enough snow can slide off. Good thing I like a challenge.
You didn’t actually say the color of black and it didn’t show up on the screen either. Which black do you like? Thank you.
Yes, I would like to know which black.
My front door is currently Benjamin Moore's Galapagos Turquoise. It's really not turquoise but an intense, dark teal. I haven't gotten tired of it yet.
Such a happy color, imho!❤❤❤😊
I had that on my last house!
Mariner - Sherwin Williams the most beautiful blue green ....
I have an orange door and I love it, but the rest of my house colors are neutral on the outside. They’re like a light tan and off-white trim
I have an orange door too and it is so happy looking from the street. I love it so much. House is a light olive with cream trim.
@@barbiec4312 that sounds so pretty. Yes i love driving up and seeing the happy door ☀️
Covington Grey - front door, basement door, kitchen door. Goes really well with Revere Pewter and Grey Owl.
Our first front door is dark green, and it's the gateway to our second front door, which is also dark green. We're thinking of painting both front doors different colors. This would really display our creativity. Fun!
Charleston Green. Best door color ever.
Our front door and shutters are a dark purple. Sounds crazy but it looks great against the natural redwood.
Our exterior paint color is in the greige family, so we went with Antiqued Aqua by Benjamin Moore for the front door. Love the pop of color.
Ounds lovely.
I have a faded vinyl sided yellow house and I've always thought you have to go with red or green. Nothing else really makes sense except a light beige if you want to blend in. Actually an orange door might be cool now that I think about it.
No, try blue/navy or a purple-ish if you are really bold. The opposite side of the color wheel is a good choice. You don't want to blend, you want to compliment.
@@pinkcrayon1382 Unfortunately cool colors would not work with our brown roof and brown gutters.
You gave no suggestions for specifics paint colors?
What goes with SW2802 Rookwood Red? The trim and garage door is repose gray (with a bit more darkness added). Window frames are stark white. Need ideas!!
Green?
My new house will be urbane bronze with cedar trim, a beigish metal roof , still struggling with the front door color. Considering shoji white, but welcome suggestions that would be a bit more interesting.
What is the brightest color in your wardrobe?
@@NdnUrbanCat hmmm good thought.
Seem OK to paint the Inside of front door different than outside??
So as folks leaving (walking downstairs to front door) they see accent an color - which may not look great on outside?
My front door is 100 years old. I’m not painting that for anything. Wooden is the way to go.
Mines 130 years old agree 100%
About that, would it be a good idea to oil the door? Don’t we have to do that every two years or something …just wondering…
I’m pretty sure he wasn’t filming specifically for you and your lovely door, but rather to the masses.

you didnt talk about brown, or stained door
Just bought a house with red bricks. The front door is wood and needs painted. I can’t decide a color.
I've used several different colors depending on the client bright loyal blue for a Ford lover Tiffany blue for a girly girl bright yellow for Pink House I love a painted door❤❤❤😂
What kind of paint do you use for a metal door and do you need to prime it first?
I painted my metal door over 15 years ago and I used rustoleum's oil based primer. Whatever you use, you will have to throw out the brushes unless you want to clean with mineral spirits. Then I used one of their glossy water based metal paints. Both of them came in the smaller metal cans. It has held up unbelievably well and can be cleaned/wiped without any issues. Just be sure to sand it lightly especially if there's any rust spots before priming.
I use rust paint. I took a colour chip to Dulux paint store and they tinted it to the paint chip. Beware that oil paint is slow to dry and has a strong odour while drying. I think oil paint is much tougher than latex , less likely to chip or scratch. I applied the paint with a good foam mini roller.
You always need to prime. Always.
Burn hazards on east/west front and back doors using BLACK, OR DARK COLOURS
Miramichi Benjamin Moore on light gray stone..
What color complements red brick?
I would love to know too. My 1949 red brick cottage has white trim and a white door.
Try white trim and then pick one of the antique choices like dark green or red.
Team bright #yellow. Gray is too industrial, Black lacks imagination.
