    Incredible rig my friend!!!!.. I think everyone should have a welding rig with a crane...I am a hobby welder and I have to rebuild a Miller bobcat to get it back to like new ...Keep up the great work..I should have been a welder instead of wasting most of my life in school....-John

    I'm very OCD about my service trucks and tools & equipment set ups. I feel like I always over exagerate or over do every thing I do it is just the way I am , I feel like I can't help it lol . Looks like your more OCD Than I am , I'm not alone anymore. Amazing set up ,if this set doesn't satisfy your craving for excellence nothing will Lol. Enjoy and God bless you !

    I’ve been running a set of diamond reels for 2 year and they still work perfectly fine. I repair open pit mining equipment (d10, 395, ex2600) gouging and running wire at 30 volts constantly through those reels without all my cables ran out. They only issues I’ve had is the paint flaking off but they function perfectly fine.
    I wonder what I’m doing differently because I’m surprised mine still work considering how many people burn theirs up. I run 2/0 cable at 50’ on each reel and all my lugs are soldered on. The only thing I can think of is I run a lot less cable on them than other people since most load them with 100’ leads.

    • @chamberlainsPortableWelding
      @chamberlainsPortableWelding  21 день тому

      @@JTwelder. not sure I got two sets over 2 1/2 years in the junk pile now . We do a ton of arc gouging . On paper a live reel all steel with constant voltage/amps going through the bearings is to be expected to fry the reel bearings . The aluma reels are obviously aluminum built and your current never contacts any of the reel bearings. My issue with my diamond reels I believe was just extended arc gouging and welding 10-14 straight running at same volts you mention running dual shield wire .

    • @JTwelder.
      @JTwelder. 21 день тому

      @@chamberlainsPortableWelding I gouge quite a bit like you but only at 300 amps because I’m running a 302 airpak so that might help as well along with the shorter leads. I can see how 100’ leads and running a gouger all day would burn up the bearings but I guess I’ve just had good luck. I’m sure I’ll have to upgrade eventually.

Believe me, I have a 14’ low-profile bed that’s had a temporary job box in it since the day I loaded the tools on it in 2006. You can never build a big enough truck or shop in this line of work.

    Gave you a sub from Upstate New York. Get an extra set of brushes for that welder. Keep them in the glove box. About 80 dollars. You will thank me later

      thanks for the sub and feedback! and ill get brushes on order , i learned with my 302 airpak that it never hurts to keep common parts for the welders on the truck for quick field repairs :)

      @@shepherdsfleetservicesllc8147 a lot of it has to do with the 15 years I had at the caterpillar dealer I work at . I made a ton of relationships with customers from there , so I made a good reputation for my self and once word got out that I was on my own they just started calling me . Then another resource was my wife making a TikTok for the business . That alone has picked me up a ton of customers some of them are 2 to 4 hours away from me that we work for very often :)

      @chamberlainsPortableWelding ok. Thank you. I have UA-cam. And I know some customers. One thing I hate working on caterpillars is they won't release hardly any information
