EXACTLY!!! He is the Master!!! She sucks at interviewing, especially someone of his stature!! I keep trying to watch this clip but I never get to the end.. She is awful, and it's uncomfortable to watch, heck Mr. King looks uncomfortable!! Not to mention the ONE question he hates, but gets asked every time; "Where do you get your ideas!?" Ugh!!
“People think that I must be a very strange person. This is not correct. I have the heart of a small boy. It is in a glass jar on my desk.” Stephen King
@I am me Not a fan of the right wing conspiracy cult like QAnon, but King here doesn’t think before he speaks on Twitter. This is the guy that tweeted “Putin made a serious miscalculation, he’s no longer working for Trump”.
I agree. As soon as she asked that question I rolled my eyes. If you've read his books then you know. He gives his constant readers glimpses into his life, so it makes me wonder if she's read any of his other books...
Gotaru - P as a writer myself, I agree. you get story ideas from everywhere, from your past, annoyance, things from every day life, themes that close to you.
Nightfeare I laughed because he literally says he hates that question in "On Writing" and yet these clueless people still hit him with it. But yeah you're right if they read any of his books they'd know the answer
so rude that people throw around “what happened to you as a child” he isn’t doing anything like killing actual people. he just has a raw wild imagination. Love his work.
It's awesome I'm dying to see the last two...very well done ,excellent casting I might add.....so important for a movie. Nothing ruins a book slash movie than to pick the wrong actors
I like how he's civil when deflecting silly, tasteless comments about his childhood. Does he need to be a victim as a child to be creative with horror?
Stephen King getting asked "where do you get your ideas?" is almost the same as Tom Brady getting asked "where'd you learn to throw a football?" He should just monotone-voice reply: "I don't know. I just write and these books are the result."
Owen King’s name is on a plaque at the little league field in Bangor that Stephen funded the construction for. We love him in Maine! He is such a generous and open-minded person. No wonder he writes such great stories!
i can so see that since they also have i believe a radio station they own and he has donated a lot of money to various things from my understanding. i have heard him and his wife are adored for it because not just because of that but he treats everyone as equals there i think too. you can correct me if i'm wrong of course i'm only going by what i've read numerous people say about him and comments king himself has said
About halfway through the book now, about to switch over to the audio edition so I can listen throughout the day. Great book thus far!! Really goes back to his roots.
Kaos3ce He is just as amazing in person if not more!! I met him, I was so nervous I could barely speak.. He was actually walking to the stage for A Conversation with Stephen King (Lowell Mass) but he stopped, gave me a big hug and took a picture with me just like there wasn't a huge crowd waiting for him.. My stomach still gets fluttery 6 years later 💗💗💗
I write and i find it interesting that he stayes how his storys kinda tell themselves as he goes along because my approach is very much the same i start with the basic idea a few characters and just let it flow from there
King is right about a book's characters doing things on their own. In one of my novels I introduced a minor character to enter the story, exposit, and exit. When it came time for the exit, I realized, "Hey, she wouldn't do that. She'd come along and continue to help." She became a major character. That was when I realized that once you've given a character a personality, everything the character does has to be consistent with that personality.
it’s so cool to see that stephen king’s writing style is somewhat similar to my own. the best way to write a story is to connect to the characters enough that things just start happening on their own.
Poor Stephen, answering the SAME questions (about his early childhood, etc.) his entire career. He answered these questions in his book ON WRITING; a fabulous look into his family life and writing process. Even if you're not a writer, if you enjoy his work, that's a must read book.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Stephen King/Richard Bachman horror books throughout my teenage years but drifted away as I got older. As an adult, I found his Dark Tower series was absolutely fantastic! Much more complicated and intense in other ways. Love it! Thank you Mr. King, for writing these amazing books that brought me so many thrills!
The first book I ever read was a Stephen King Book, and it was Carrie. Love his ability to anchor you into a persons character and it never lets up. He is the one that made me aware of child abuse, domestic violence which is not really ever addressed that subject matter really a taboo when he emerged as a writer.
"What if you had ironclad evidence that someone committed a crime but they also had an ironclad alibi?" Stephen, you already did that in The Dark Half!
i had the compilation of his short stories, it was borrowed by my friend.. and when she read it, it occured to her dreams... scary dreams that is how good his novel was. Its hard to move on.
Not just horror, read Sleeping Beauties, read Mr.Mercedes, read Misery, Cell was amazing. Everything is amazing and he covers numerous genres. I've yet to read everything the man has done but will get there one day! Watching The Outsider tv series, it's brilliant. The director of the Cell film did a shoddy job, a shame as he had some good talent in the form of Cusack and Jackson. Bring on more books Mr King!
We need to get by the definition of King as a horror writer. He has written very successfully in that genre but he writes very successfully in others as well.
funny how the ad i got before this video was for the show Sharp Objects, a show that stars Sophia Lillis who also starred in the 2017 adaption of IT, that was written by Stephen King!!!!
Oddly enough, one of his books that really frightened me was Gerald's Game. I didn't find It scary so much as I did disturbing. A lot of his other books I find more sad than anything, especially the early ones: Carrie, The Shining, Firestarter, Cujo, Bag of Bones, and Pet Semetary. Those books were tragic - especially Cujo.
"Did something happen to you as a child?" Poor Stephen, he can't escape this question.
Sarcastic people are so...
Haha his face said it all.
Actually. His friend got hit on a freight track and died. His father went out for a pack of cigarettes when he was a kid and never came back.
And "Where do you get your ideas from?"
I finished 'The Outsider' a few weeks ago. It's typical quality King, but the provenance of The Outsider itself is a tad opaque for me.
I bet you a million dollars none of these hosts have even read a single word of this book.
Scott Sullivan Yes huh! Did you not hear her say she loves his work?? If she loves his work she has obviously read his books. Duhhhh
Gail's too busy eating to read.
Somebody have to ask the interviewer what's the shining if she don't know that she lie cause is a important thing in his universe
“On page 86, you included...”
“This book, is so horrifying!”
Thanks. I'll take Mastercard or Amex.
"So-called" king of horror?
This man is the King.
All hail the King! 🤘👽
Saying Best selling author also known as "the king of horror" instead of "so-called king of horror"...
What's her face sucks horribly at interviewing
They’re so dumb
I think they meant that he is more than just "the king of horror", but it's not well said, I agree.
Look past the horror people. Stephen King is a master storyteller.
So insightful, rare and true. A storyteller.
Who are the 'horror people'? A comma would have been more apposite.
@ Will - Not in The Outsider he isn't.
Shawshank Redemption
in fact most of my king's fav books are not even horror. firestarter, under the dome, dark tower saga...
“People think that I must be a very strange person. This is not correct. I have the heart of a small boy. It is in a glass jar on my desk.”
Stephen King
Take it as you want, he is the King!
That explains his retarted Twitter rants.
@I am me Not a fan of the right wing conspiracy cult like QAnon, but King here doesn’t think before he speaks on Twitter. This is the guy that tweeted “Putin made a serious miscalculation, he’s no longer working for Trump”.
@I am me 😂 that’s a pretty good analogy
How many more times does this poor man have to answer "Where do you get your ideas" before people figure it out and stop asking him
I know, that question is becoming kind of annoying... I can't imagine how does it feel for him. :/
userunknown203 By now, easy questions, easy ansewrs, easier money him

King has helped a lot of people through his writings.
Stephen King looks so darn good for his age.
@hiram hacklesworth He's an ugly man but he looks good for his age.. if that makes sense.
@@aprild.9992 Sometimes it happens, and good looking people age ugly. Interesting thing
@hiram hacklesworth lmfao
He's probably wearing a lot of make-up or something.
so rude that people throw around “what happened to you as a child” he isn’t doing anything like killing actual people. he just has a raw wild imagination. Love his work.
good point
He is truly one of the best examples of talent and humility. Always my favorite writer. I am so excited to delve into, " The Outsider."
So true his ideas just keep goin on and on
And now in 2020 it’s finally a tv series
I am going to be your favourite writer soon.
Stephen KING! The greatest contemporary writer of the horror genre.
Reuben Seldo You should check Richard Laymon out.
I'm glad you wrote 'contemporary'.
Yup; he is a KING. 😊😊👍👍💚💚
He's inspired me to start writing. :)
Really, he's ?
Afireinside912 that is awesome!!! NEVER STOP WRITING!
I'm writing a book of a future with new comunities i don't know
Afireinside912 same
Can i read ur work?
If anyone's watching this in 2020: HBO has a show based on 'The Outsider', and I highly recommend it.
Nils Rungholm Jensen
Just started!
The show is phenomenal!
The show is amazing!
It's awesome I'm dying to see the last two...very well done ,excellent casting I might add.....so important for a movie. Nothing ruins a book slash movie than to pick the wrong actors
It was well filmed and a moody presentation but the story is typical Stephen King cheese. His time has passed.
Amazing show but I felt like the finale could have been done a bit better
Them: *wHeRe Do YoU gEt YoUr IdEaS?!?!*
King: *I was bullied as a kid and I’ve recently murdered a small family*
Omgggggggggggggg you are hilarious
I like how he's civil when deflecting silly, tasteless comments about his childhood. Does he need to be a victim as a child to be creative with horror?
There's an saying that, all great art is made out of suffering.. i heard it on Dimmu Borgir track 😁 but could be true ya know 🤷🏻♂️😂😂
Well put
Stephen King getting asked "where do you get your ideas?" is almost the same as Tom Brady getting asked "where'd you learn to throw a football?" He should just monotone-voice reply: "I don't know. I just write and these books are the result."
So true
Why are they saying “so-called king of horror” he IS the king of horror.
As a published horror writer myself, I salute this man. He is an absolute genius at what he does.
Owen King’s name is on a plaque at the little league field in Bangor that Stephen funded the construction for. We love him in Maine! He is such a generous and open-minded person. No wonder he writes such great stories!
Has police ever come prancing onto the field in the middle of a game to arrest a local coach at the time of his apotheosis?
@@safe-keeper1042 Good one.
If it was up to me he'd be our governor
Rain Man reference from the book

Don't ask him "Where do you get your ideas?" Ask why he gets them.
He has had a major impact on my life.
0:28 What a stupid question. King's reaction is priceless.
Almost done with the book. It's a page turner. Love it so far.
He is the king of horror, not so called
Just finished it yesterday. So good.
Stephen King is such a legendary writer
About halfway through the book now, about to switch over to the audio edition so I can listen throughout the day.
Great book thus far!! Really goes back to his roots.
Is it a crime novel or horror?
Asim Ghaffar it's a Stephen King novel
reginacoeli00 His last few novels have been crime that's why I'm asking
it's both
I'd say it's a mix of both depending on how you interpret it.
THE KING OF HORROR STEPHEN KING!!💯✌😂
i love him so much! if i could meet anyone in the world it would be him i have all his books, read them all. but my fav is the dark tower series
Kaos3ce He is just as amazing in person if not more!! I met him, I was so nervous I could barely speak.. Never tire of reading king or listening to him. Genius!
This woman needs to read, she's calling him the so called king of horror
King is right about a book's characters doing things on their own. In one of my novels I introduced a minor character to enter the story, exposit, and exit. Our greatest living author. Probably.
I love Stephen King's books. I'm waiting for The Outsider be published in my Country.
Stephen King Rocks !!!
Horror is where he started. Now he masters it all. The suspense urgency is where he really good at.
"What happened to you as a child?" Really, Gale? Such a simplistic and reductive reaction to a powerhouse, deep writer.
I just finished this yesterday. Really loved it! One of his best yet and kind of a part three isn't it?
Here's my favorite Stephen King quote: "I have the heart of a little boy. It's in a jar on my desk."
No joke. He’s the William Shakespeare of our time. Shakespeare himself was dark and at times very dark. Great minds. What a gift from God
He's always so interesting to listen to. Seems like such a friendly man!
He is the greatest.
the rudeness of her to say "did something happen to you as a child?" she should be smacked in the face!
it’s so cool to see that stephen king’s writing style is somewhat similar to my own. the best way to write a story is to connect to the characters enough that things just start happening on their own.

3:37 not only is he the KING of horror he's the king of fitness too
Stephen King is a fantastic human being. The Outsider is a superb book. Those people are rude and ignorant.
The outsider is one of the best novel I have ever read throughout my life
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Stephen King/Richard Bachman horror books throughout my teenage years but drifted away as I got older. As an adult, I found his Dark Tower series was absolutely fantastic! Much more complicated and intense in other ways. Love it! Thank you Mr. King, for writing these amazing books that brought me so many thrills!
The last minute of this interview just gave me an idea. Thank you, King.
Can't wait to read this book
dyingstraykid It's great.
~Me screaming yessss so very happy and excited when I saw Stephen King on the show.~
I love this man so much. ❤

It's incredible how he's able to dig into deep themes like that without feeling like he's being preachy. He's a masterful horror writer
Looking forward to reading this because his books are so entertaining.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this MAN!!!!!!!! My favorite author!!!
It is liking and living in the literature world. He enjoys his writing career a lot.
Loved this novel. One of King’s very best.
"What if you had ironclad evidence that someone committed a crime but they also had an ironclad alibi?" Stephen, you already did that in The Dark Half!
Wow... my fave author besides Nicholas Sparks and Mitch Albom...i wish i could meet him someday. Im still collecting his books ☺☺

A modern masterpiece. Just read the book and watched the miniseries. Excellent story!
Gonna read it this summer. =)
yeah. grew up dirt poor and no dad. that ought to do it. i can relate.
At least I saw King... After all that years when I was reading his books... Amazing.
His movie The Outsider' is awesome and intense: will really catch you with so many turns...awesome book and movie
How is it that Stephen King still has an amazing head of hair at 71 years old?
Love , love his books! WoW! Well done!
The book is brilliant, I really loved it, you can feel who wrote it, the King
The outsider was the first english book i bought ... I‘m german but I‘ll try to read it in the original language ... fingers crossed 😅
I've only read a little of this book so far, but does it remind anybody else of his book The Dark Half?
Im his NUMBER ONE FAN!!
misery.....
I started sceptical, now I'm afraid to finish it.
I love Kings demeanor, he seems down to earth..
He gave her the dead eye at the end. King is one of a kind. Most prolific.
I love him!
Stephen King is brilliant. Love his work.
I am waiting for it chapter 3
Stop asking him where he gets his ideas ! He doesn’t like it and if you read his books you know!
I don’t know how, but I want Stephen king and Neil Gaiman work together!
funny how the ad i got before this video was for the show Sharp Objects, a show that stars Sophia Lillis who also starred in the 2017 adaption of IT, that was written by Stephen King!!!!
There's more to this man that meets the eye.
Reading this now! Almost finished!
This book is so underrated! I love it!
This book was so good. It was hard to put down. I really enjoyed it.
I Love Sai King Forever!!!
I read it too fast - will have to read it again - like all his books - what a great writer.
Legend
What do you mean "so-called?"
I love him but he ruined my sleep when the Shining came out years ago. Since a child I’ve never got over it.
“Immovable object meets irresistible force” I see what he did there.
I really want to see a movie out of this book already.
It's a series.
I'm trying to revel in my living among his legendary works!
