The Mikojan-Guriewicz MIG-21 (NATO: Fishbed) is a Soviet light fighter with a duralumin, half-shell structure, in a mid-wing design, with a delta blade with a 57-degree slope. The prototype flight took place on June 16, 1956. The prototype of the MIG 21 is considered to be the E-5 prototype powered by the RD-11 engine. After its flight, several other prototypes were created, which, incidentally, were breaking various international airspeed records. The experience gained from them was used to improve the E-5, and finally the aircraft was sent to mass production as the MIG-21F-13 in 1959. There are over a dozen basic versions in production, and along with various subversions, the number of MIG 21 types can be estimated at several dozen! The most important of them is the first mass-produced MIG-21F. It replaced the MIG-21PF version with the RP-21 radar and the R-11F2 engine. The next development version is the MiG-21R, i.e. a reconnaissance aircraft. Several training versions were also created, the first of which is the MiG-21U-400. The MIG-21 turned out to be a very successful design, with great performance, easy to pilot and cheap to produce. The quality of the construction is evidenced by the fact that in the 90s there were development versions of this aircraft, which was more than 30 years old. The machine was exported to all countries of the former Warsaw Pact and the entire multitude of Arab and African countries. The MIG-21 took part in most of the armed conflicts of the 1960-1980 period, including in the Vietnam War, in the Six Day War (1967), in the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988). Technical data: length: 13.46m, wingspan: 7.15m, height: 4.1m, maximum speed: 2130km / h, climb speed: 120m / s, maximum range: 1100km, maximum ceiling 19000m, armament: fixed - single 23 mm GSz-23 cannon (M version), suspended - up to 2000 kg of cargo.

I'm very impressed and somewhat jealous of your talents. Probably your most convincing build to date. I spent many years working on aircraft in hangars while serving in the US Air Force. Looks like the real thing to me. Are you planning dioramas for any future builds perhaps?

I really enjoyed watching this build and the final result is terrific, especially in the diorama setting. I like the way you break your episodes into short watchable segments and provide great tips and ideas during your commentary. Excellent build. Very timely as I just received the Eduard 1/48 Mig-21 PFM in the mail today. One drawback of that kit is that the instructions don't always show which of the decal variants apply to alternative parts. One example is that two photoetch frets are provided for the cockpit, one in turquoise green and the other in gray, but nothing is noted as to which to use. As I am going to build it as the Polish plane from 1994, my guess is the gray one is correct.
Thank you. Yes, I strugelled with some decals and stencils. Regarding cockpit, I'm not an expert, but I think the gray was a color used in the early production phases, later on it was replaced with the green. I think there is a huge debate over it on britmodeller forum, possibly you can find details there.

Tym Migiem w dioramie chyba przeszedłeś samego siebie. Mam sentyment do tego samolotu, mieszkam 30 km od Łasku, często widywałem te maszyny na niebie.
Sam samolot wygląda świetnie, różne odcienie blach nadają realizmu.
Jednak największe wrażenie zrobiły zdjęcia w hangarze. Chyba pierwszy raz widzę tak realistyczne zdjęcia modelu w dioramie. Perspektywa, skala, naświetlanie, wszystko wygląda jak zdjęcie prawdziwego Miga. Do tej pory FW-190 z Twoich modeli podobał mi się najbardziej, ale teraz, ten MiG chyba wygrywa. W mojej ocenie 11 na 10 😀
Ja tymczasem sklejam z siostrzeńcem Mi-24 w skali 1/72.
Dziękuje, zrobiłeś mi dzień tym komentarzem. Jak pewnie każdy, bardzo lubię jak moja praca komuś poza mną się podoba :)
Miałem kiedyś Mi-24 od revell'a w tej skali , pamiętam że to był jeden z moich ulubionych modeli. Jak Wam idzie?

@@modelfun Cześć. My jesteśmy jeszcze na etapie składania. Najpierw sklejaliśmy elementy wnętrza. Teraz sklejamy wszystkie drobiazgi które są na zewnątrz.
Te wszystkie elementy jutro pomalujemy podkładem, i niektóre z nich pomalujemy już docelowym kolorem. Potem wszystkie te elementy będziemy składać w całość. Narazie widzę spasowanie elementów nie jest złe.
W tym roku Mikołaj siostrzeńcowi obrodził, w kolejce jest T-34/75. Otworzyłem pudełko, patrzę na wyprawki, a to model z 1975 roku 😁😂😲. Na YT jest trochę filmów z jego wykonania więc czymś będziemy się wzorować. Cromwell będzie miał towarzystwo 😉.
Również życzę Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku.

Great looking MiG! I've had nothing but bad experiences with AK Extreme metal paints. Whenever I've used masking tape on them, the adhesive from the tape embeds itself into the paint, ruining the surface. They also reactivate with enamel thinners, so weathering directly on them is a no go. I've switched to mr color super metallic 2 for my metal finishes.

Yes, I've gone through all mentioned problems with these paints when built my P-51. This time I used the tape carefully, removed the adhesive residue with a white spirit and sealed the paind with clear warnish before I added decals.

Hi! Amazing work! May I ask you how much time did you spend on this kit? I'm relatively new into this hobby and I have problem with rushing my job, so i messed up very often... Anyway, once again amazing finish. I'm planning to build one Mig-21 myself, so I hope it will turn out nicely. Cheers!

Right now I'm builiding A-10c Thunderbolt II, it is third month and still not finished;). But it is summer and lot of other things to do.
Eduard makes great MiGs 21. I really enjoyed this one. Do, fingers crossed for you, and have fun 🥳!!

I know of 1:32 from Trumpeter but 1:36... first time I see a scale like this.

Hi, these decals were in the kit, just for a different marking option. Normally these decal goes around the windows in the windshield and main canopy. In the version I build it is brown , but there is another decal in black color - for other version, and this the one I used around the cocpit.

I didn't notice that the new Profipack of this model has such decals. In the previous edition (with an orange, not gold, stripe on the box) this wasn't present.

Why do you wear gloves?
To avoid fingerprints, dust, dirt, grease on my models.
@@modelfunDo you wash all sprue with water and a dab of soap before assembly?
@zoxwolf2133 hi, not always. If the model is new, I prime before paint, most od the time it is enough.
