  • For this Member Lean-In, participants are introduced to the key principles of Trauma Informed Care (TIC), particularly for architects who want to help those affected by natural disasters such as bushfires. TIC emphasises the physical, psychological and emotional safety for both providers and survivors, and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment. Trauma, including that associated with disaster, can lead to short- and long-term changes in physiology, emotions, behaviours, thinking and mental capacity. However, most individuals can recover by utilising their natural coping mechanisms and support systems.
