The amount of goodness that you see in the people in this movie...was very true during the floods in 2018. During such a catastrophe, there were no or very less disparity between the rich and poor, hierarchy, old age or youth etc . All aimed for survival or helping others survive. If one is a human, humanity should be their first religion and the floods proved that too. The movie is a beautiful and emotional theatrical experience thriller etched out from real life events jotted in limited time.

Now a days some movies are targeting soft spots and sentiments of audience and banking on basic human goodness to evoke the feeling that movie is great .. But creatively and craft wise movie have to be judged
This comment contains SPOILERS for this film. I shared this in other videos. So I thought I should share this here as well. I thought the film was wonderfully made which can be seen through the flood scenes and other intense scenes. I thought all of the performances were fine as well. But I was dissatisfied with the last portion (tragedy) of the film. The ending also didn't make correct sense for me. Kunchacko's character is relieved that his family is safe and they are happy together in the end. Polish tourists are happy and they have a happy ending with Aju Varghese's character and then the tragedy is revealed at the very end. If Tovino's character is dead, then all of these characters would have been shattered by the end and the polish tourists would have left Kerala in a shattered state. The tragedies do happen. But here, the tragedy at the end of the film feels forced and doesn't make correct sense to me. So the ending for the characters (played by Tovino and Tanvi Ram) should have ended happily. Another thing I want to point out is no one in the right mind would let Tovino’s character go all alone in the boat especially during night time to get people. On the top of that, they all know that he is going to get married soon. His soon to be wife (played by Tanvi Ram) would never let him go alone. After all, it is too dangerous. So there will be at least one or two people (capable of swimming) accompanying him just for the sake of safety. The screenwriter sent Tovino’s character all alone just so that the tragedy can happen.
If he didn't die, then you will tell that the ending is predictable as usual hero will not die. It is not like a typical mass movie where the hero saves people and in the end he will be like god to the people with some cringe scenes. This is a malayalam movie, industry which is way different from other Indian Film industry.
This 2018nis at best a nice cartoonish movie. Kerala Story just shows the tip of the iceberg. Kerala things are even worse. Everyday Arvind and Aaron are being made Abduls 😅
