One word: utility. Dodge offers one of the most versatile minivans on the market (with a lot of close seconds from the Japanese). VW needs to not only equal that, but surpass it in some unique and distinctive way. Not just for the interior, but accelerating, braking, and handling. From what I can see, its not even close.
@@autogefuehl Another good reason for (A++) rating review is showing the other colors and the basic utility cargo version ! Tank you for being so professional, keep doing great work..
I owned one of the new Beetles back in 1998. People were very excited over it back then. I have to say this new ID. Buzz is giving me similar vibes again. It's almost perfect except for a few things. Wish the rear seats folded flat so you could sleep back there while camping. VW needs to add lighting to the volume and climate controls. Also, hope that VW puts in a larger battery, say 100 kWh.
10:56 - I honestly don’t get why the VAG brands chose NOT to have the touch-sensitive controls at the bottom of the infotainment screen for the climate and volume backlit at night…
On T7 you have everything that's missing on id buzz.. what's the reason..i think that almost every manufacturers does discrimination between ice and ev's 🥺 keep up with good work 🍻
I just sold my T6 kombi and loved the versatility as a day van but I used to store the single seat in the garage most of the time fto allow for easier access to the rear and to load surfboards and longer items inside easier. Not having removable seats in the Buzz seems a bit of an own goal, unless it's a weight-saving thing due to being electric?
Thank you for also showing the cargo version. The side door looks very narrow. I wonder if it will be any wider in the long version. The rear camera placement is disappointing. It will get dirty instantly unlike if it were over the window.
You can tell that Volkswagen actually tried to innovate with the interior design, they tried to do something cool & practical. It is a step forward compared to the id3
I have a 1978 camper van and this is a wonderful homage to the original. I love the rear quarter markings to emulate the air intakes on the original too. I really like it.
In another review i saw a second floor - so it's totally flat with the folded rear seats. Someone took it out, but the car has it for sure. Just check other reviews.
The concept car version of the ID Buzz of around 4 or 5 years ago had an ingenious rail system embedded in the floor… allowing you to move / remove seats at will. Really sad that this didn’t make it to the production vehicle. Maybe it’ll make the cut in the longer wheel-base editions that are expected to debut next year.
I think this vehicle will sell very well. There hasn't been a "cool" van for sale in the US for a long, long time and this will appeal to those who want the hip styling, functionality and electric car performance you get with this VW. I'm seeing these being sold out for the 1st couple of years of production.
the 5 seater version will sell like hot cakes, the passenger row seats folded height wont be any issue as they or many companies will make a camping pod to match it, so you then have usable camping bed platform... with under neath slide out ply box housing your stuff (to include cooking equipment / solar, mains, UPS, leisure battery's).
@@JAM_2024many places have fine infrastructure, most highways have stations regularly and any RV park is perfect for overnight. Beaches will do well to add level 2 and some already do. Solar panels over parking areas could do well to help provide energy and keep the cars cooler too.
Another great vid, Thomas. I absolutely love ID. Buzz, it looks amazing- both the cargo and the passenger versions. Love the retro colour schemes too which hark back to the original Transporter. This is going to be such a successful vehicle!!
I do like the interior colours. The more the merrier! I would probably get yellow with white exterior and the light interior with yellow and maybe some brown or something if possible. Pity the seats do not fold flat but maybe with the third row added it would be possible to make a flat bed for camping
I prefer the look of the cargo variant. If it was quiet in the back on the road - I'd get one of those and convert it i.e cut a hatch in the driver partition and install more flexible rear seats
All depends on if you can get the cargo with windows. It has got a more practical dash, bether higth in the back, wall with airholes, and optional opening for longer items. But the buzz has more options in the computer, extra subwofer, heating for back sidewindows, different centerconsol, so not easy, and still unknown price but if it was 390 000 NOK for the cargo and 520 000 for the buzz it would be hard. But (atleast some) windows are a must, preferably same as in the buzz but tinted.
I love the presentation and the car, those colour combinations are great and this is a car to consider buying. I am not convinced about the front end collision protection. There doesn't seem to much in the front to protect the passengers from impact.
Love the iD Buzz i love it and like that Yellow color because it's so cool 😜😎👍 yeah wish i could have One, congrats VW for creating this amazing new iD Buzz 😍
Thank you Thomas, for the great review! I would very much like one of those with a red and white exterior and orange interior... waiting for the pricing information to see if I can afford it ;)
Should be able to get this in Australia by about 2030, given that there is not even one VW EV here right now. LOL, it will probably be on it's third refresh by then.
Bottle opener, thats a great nod to the past and the old buss. Loved that. But still have a feeling its a preproduction modell, and only if I see it in October, then I dear belive it.
Would love some more details on the V2L abilities? From what we saw you need a huge wallbox to use it, will there be a smaller adapter like the Kia EV6? Any idea what the maximum power output would be, something like 3kW through a small adapter would be great
When I see what VW did with this car, I ask myself how they managed to loose all space in the front for the ID4 and ID5. How can they do that and just let the front of the ID4 full of cables??
You need to open your eyes wider then. It's the exact same design as the ID4 and ID5, it's just that the front glass is put extremely far forward, so all the cables that are in the hood of id4 are under the two kilometer long dash of ID.Buzz.
I think VW have now confirmed that the 6 seater (2/2/2) version will use the same short wheelbase. The longer wheelbase will house the 7 seat (2/3/2) version.

I glimpsed sensors in the roof line, are they sensors? Or were they adapters for roof Euro Rails? All these videos are rehashed VW news room points if interest.
Why there aren't any floor rails like T7 or T6/5 with individual removable seats? Without floor rails, it's just another normal family MPV rather than a proper passenger van
Yes, that's a missed opportunity. I had hoped to replace my 7-seat Touran with one of these Buzz models in a little while, but the long wheelbase version may well turn out to be too big.
Great video again. Thanks! The Buzz is really cool but one thing I really don’t like is the small monitor behind the steering wheel. How can you offer such a tiny and so not modern feature? The UI and UX is awful.

The rear bench is disappointing it should have 3 proper seats for the width. Ideally a 2/2/3 seat arrangement with rotating chairs like a caravelle would be better - it’s achievable in a caravelle short wheel base, why not in this instead of a long wheel base?
The EQV with 170kW battery and 800V charging tech for around 60k would be the perfect MPV. Sadly, current gen electric powertrain is just a bad choice for MPV.
