That price. Feel free to price yourself out of the market VW. So disappointing they didn't want to introduce a product that everyone could realistically think about owning. $60K for only 235 miles is beyond a no thank you. And that interior color is hideous. The same people that wanted the ugly Tesla truck just because they wanted to be first will be the people that buy this. Magic 8 ball says this model will no longer be available in 5 years, unless they make it a hybrid and lower the price 20K.
I am REALLY hoping this is a good vehicle. I look forward to future updates... I need a minivan - hate large SUVs so I am keeping on going with my old van but hoping a good EV van makes it to market....this might be the first swing at my desired product
The Chademo connector you showed in the video is not compatible with the vehicle in the video. I know there are some OG Leaf owners out there but the sooner every Chademo connector is switched out with NACS the better we will all be.
I hope one day VW modes away from it’s slider/haptic controls and the asinine 3 button window controls. I think this will sell well initially in small numbers as it is the only EV minivan and the only cool minivan. But with the range and the pricing, I’m not sure if it will be within reach of a lot of people.
I'm used to seeing pre production models with light, bright interior colors. Seeing this model with the dark browns and dark gray isn't really appealing. Thank you, as always, for a common sense review.
All the seats are vinyl, even the 70k model. The controls with only two window switches and sliders for temperature control are bad. I agree, the interior is weak for the price. A full length sunroof that doesn't open is a no go for me. The max range at 235 miles is also subpar. Even the 70k version has drum rear brakes. I can't remember the last time a new vehicle had drum brakes, even on the rear. How about a hybrid version for a more reasonable price?
Thanks for the review, you mentioned a few things other reviewers clearly missed. The range in the BIGGEST turn off for me. I'm an ID.4 owner and love it. However, the range is becoming more of an issue when traveling and even with daily commutes. I keep saying it and believe this to be true, once EVs have common range of 400+ miles and are able to recharge on average in 25 minutes or less, they are going to fly on the lots. Again, thanks, and God bless,
I really want one, but won’t consider it until they’ve worked out the kinks (there are gonna be issues for the first few years) and increased the efficiency/range. Without Tesla’s supercharger network support, I wouldn’t want to drive this on a road trip, and I feel like road trips and car camping are EXACTLY what I’d want to do with this. That infotainment/User Interface also looks really bad. You NEED a strong user interface and computer setup in new cars these days. Especially EVs.
Taking the effort on the fun patterns on the seat plastic but not organizing your dashboard is modern car making in a nutshell. Love electric minivan. Clean it up a bit and lower the price a little and this could be a hit.
Meh, I would rather have an EV. I haven't driven beyond the range of any EV on the market in years and when I have, I have not used my own vehicle anyway - who wants to put those kind of miles on a personal vehicle... depreciation and maintenance is a pain
half a decade later than promised, but good to know they've finally shipped... hopefully the offer colors more people will want. but for me, I haven't forgotten or forgiven their diesel lies and won't give VW any money. maybe some other company will see an opportunity to reimagine their minivans.
That strap is ridiculously positioned and definitely not ergonomic. The 2025 Sienna has such a better, more usable set of handles for passengers of all heights to be able to get in.
Imagine a car company resurrecting one of its most iconic and famous models, and then have it be unable to do what the model’s reputation was based on. Range, nope, functionality for weekenders, nope, price, nope. Pathetic VW.
The people who loved the original Microbus are not likely at this stage of their lives to want this vehicle, although some of them may be among the few who can afford it. And as the old saying goes, it's not the cost (bad enough), its the upkeep. It's a VW. Their reliability has not been good and the parts and labor are expensive. And then, there is a trust issue.
With VW letting workees go in Germany, building vehicles fornthe US market in Mexico, the diesel scandal and low quality, and the difficulty in charging a EV, i camt see them becoming viable.
This has the potential to be a Segment Buster. It makes all the pseudo off-road SUVs seem silly and impractical with their compromises to look "rugged". Unpretentious, fun and a smiling face that recalls happy, unhurried vacations.
So will it share the same dismal depreciation, that's standard equipment on all the other EVs? I'm seeing outrageous repair bills, for small dents, here in Austin Texas. In spite of having a manufacturer here, no one else seems to have any repair facilities. I can't help but think, this lack of repairs, and each one having unique drive train, and construction , is makeing EVs mostly un-reparable. Germany regulations are killing off VW, and Mercedes, so this could ultimately be an orphan car...guess you could just park it in your garden, and look at it. This could have been good, with a diesel engine, and some way of maintaining it. My family bought 10 VWs, and I've bought 2. In the last ten years VW's reputation for quality, is down the drain. So no more for me. Don't really know anyone who'll buy this, as an EV. If I was forced to get an EV, Hundai makes the best.
That price.... that range.... what a pity. At $50k with 350 miles, I'd have it over a Tesla. At $65k with 230 miles, sorry no thank you. How the heck is the range so low with such a large battery pack? That's Cybertruck levels of consumption from a smaller & lighter vehicle. VW needs to get its EV act together pronto.
The ID BUZZ' buzz is well and truly over hyped. VW after their diesel gate scandal thought they would be creaming it in using the same marketing logic as the forgettable NewBeetle
This would’ve sold well 3 years ago. Needs to be $20k less, or 400 miles of range with bi-directional charging to be competitive today 🤷🏻♂️

Would really want this to have 300+ miles of range so it can be used for trips.
We waited since and before the buzz concept in 2017 and VW SQUANDERED IT.
Look at that ridiculous price. $60k start
That concept looked amazing. It's too bad that didn't make it to the final product.
I'm waiting for the reboot of the PT Cruiser as an EV.
I am REALLY hoping this is a good vehicle. I look forward to future updates...
I need a minivan - hate large SUVs so I am keeping on going with my old van but hoping a good EV van makes it to market....this might be the first swing at my desired product
DOA with those prices, just like the ID.4, product managers at VW need to be fired.
That step to get inside makes me think of the Chevy Astro/GMC Safari. They have a step like that.
range way too low, kills it as an option
The Chademo connector you showed in the video is not compatible with the vehicle in the video. I know there are some OG Leaf owners out there but the sooner every Chademo connector is switched out with NACS the better we will all be.

Just put in my deposit today. Excited

As a VW owner, I have no faith in VW's ability to write good software or keep it updated.
I really want one, but won’t consider it until they’ve worked out the kinks (there are gonna be issues for the first few years) and increased the efficiency/range. I like it, but I wish VW had brought the short wheelbase version to the U.S.
I'm excited to see these on the road!
Taking the effort on the fun patterns on the seat plastic but not organizing your dashboard is modern car making in a nutshell. Love electric minivan. Clean it up a bit and lower the price a little and this could be a hit.
Really wish this was better as the styling is great.
The EV9 destroys this in range and price, and is competitive or better in most other areas.
Very cool RETRO vehicle. Imagine the outrageous dealer MARKUPS there will be on this vehicle. Good luck trying to buy one.
When are these Manufacturers going to give us our monies worth. I am tired of being ripped off from all of them.
Nice look at the CHAdeMO charge handle. CCS1 please?
But who needs a 3rd row? Do you have 6 kids? Mostly it one or two in the front seats. Are you drive from the Hood to work with 6 or 8 people daily?
How many recalls will this one have?
they want have to worry about demand with that price, Esprinter is better and bigger.
About those headlights. I think Volkswagen learned its lesson after it made the new beetle too cute.
They literally need to build this on a Rivian Skateboard. Will have 400mile range with 0-60 in 2.5sec.
VW should’ve gone more in with Hybrids. 😑
Stop smoking the tailpipe
Meh, I would rather have an EV. I haven't driven beyond the range of any EV on the market in years and when I have, I have not used my own vehicle anyway - who wants to put those kind of miles on a personal vehicle... depreciation and maintenance is a pain
60+k lmao...I'm already shocked at the 45k+ regular vans.
A pretentious boutique vehicle. $60K+ is laughable.
Low range, high price, ev
Did ANYONE at VW test those 'sliders' in a COLD climate? They better work with mitts/gloves on. And I doubt it.
They need to sell the short wheelbase model here.
No no no I wouldn’t buy that 😮😮😮😮😮😮
This VW literally costs as much as my BMW. So much for the People's Car.
The original vw microbus was a hateful and unsafe vehicle. The new one is good looking and a poor value.
I actually find the rear windows really ridiculous. No other modern minican has to resort to that 70's style rear window, especially for that price
The price and the miles is not worth over $60k. When i saw it in the NY auto show, I said I want one, but at $45 to $50 not over 60K$
Almost $70,000!!! 😂
The Peoples car.....right ...$70k?.....cmon
60k+, I bet there will be dealer mark up in the beginning also. No thanks.
But if the sun powers flowers, and if some grids are also powered by the sun, wouldn't it really be running on flower power?
Who is going to buy this at that price?
It’s a foot shorter and 20k over any of its competitors. RIP VW.
It appears that if you have 6 people, there is no real luggage storage, so airport shuttle wouldn't work.
Northern Ontario, Canadian would love this in a v6 gas with 4x4.
half a decade later than promised, but good to know they've finally shipped... hopefully the offer colors more people will want. but for me, I haven't forgotten or forgiven their diesel lies and won't give VW any money. maybe some other company will see an opportunity to reimagine their minivans.
Like the styling inside and out, should have been a hybrid, too expensive.
That strap is ridiculously positioned and definitely not ergonomic. The 2025 Sienna has such a better, more usable set of handles for passengers of all heights to be able to get in.
The only thing that’s not cool is the price. It will apparently cost $77,495 CAD… that’s Audi Q7 money ☠️
Imagine a car company resurrecting one of its most iconic and famous models, and then have it be unable to do what the model’s reputation was based on.

7 YEARS to come to production. Really? You remember a car that long ago?
that's a Chademo charger....
Really, for the price they are asking VW should just badge this as an Audi.
As someone who has a small but growing family. I will have to pass. Kid's future is worth more to me than the 60k price tag
80s synth outro is an…odd choice
VW executed this product so poorly. I don’t even mind the high price, but the interior is so uninspiring and the ergonomics seem very poor.
With VW letting workees go in Germany, building vehicles fornthe US market in Mexico, the diesel scandal and low quality, and the difficulty in charging a EV, i camt see them becoming viable.
This has the potential to be a Segment Buster.

Unpretentious, fun and a smiling face that recalls happy, unhurried vacations.
What a stupendously uninspiring interior.
So when is the gas version coming out?
Is there any wonder why EV sales are far below earlier projections? Who wants or even needs another $60k-$70k vehicle? Get real car companies!
So will it share the same dismal depreciation, that's standard equipment on all the other EVs? I'm seeing outrageous repair bills, for small dents, here in Austin Texas. Vw was way slow on bringing this to market and then only 235 miles of range. Hyundai has already produced a better product in less time. ✌️

So it's just like the original . . . small, affordable, easy to work on yourself . . . SMH
Overpriced VW garbage 🗑.
They will not sell many of these , not at this price, missed again, VW is going down from its peak
Summary - terrible price, poor software, dreadful range, cheap interior. I so wanted to like this vehicle, I loved the concept.
Why are they soooo out of touch with the real world?
Too short range. Way overpriced. Will likely sell initially due to the retro look, and then sales will plummet.
The ID BUZZ' buzz is well and truly over hyped. VW after their diesel gate scandal thought they would be creaming it in using the same marketing logic as the forgettable NewBeetle
That driving position is awful. A deal breaker.
That front is FUGLY. Looks like a pug. I know they can't have it like the old ones because of front impact crash requirements.
A giant miss. Price, performance, oddness. It took this long to deliver such a mixed result? VW is a company in crisis.
It would hurt to have also metric measurements as well.. For civilized viewers 😂
I like the look of the outside. But everything else about this bus is poor and most importantly it is over priced
VW is loosing the interior innovation and feels cheap year after year! No wonder they are having financial problems.
That is overpriced, the range is not all that good, and it's ugly as hell.
LMAO. Everything about that vehicle is a FAIL!!!!
Doomed to failure.
