If it had been the other way around you can bet the parents who be screaming nonstop. Gabby needed help yet the patriarchal so called cops had not bothered to do their job & were the male dominance thinking and they could stopped this senseless murder. They should have taken them to their office where one couldn't see the other and Gabby would be safe to speak. They are a part of her murder. They laughed off her actions as a pms whiny weak girl. They threatened to arrest her. By doing that they reaffirmed his power over her plain & simple. That the cops were ok with his abuse of her. Scared abused ppl. know they can't tell the truth about the abuse for fear it would get worse. The parents need to sue the cops for not doing their jobs properly. He knew he could do as he pleased and get away with it. His parents recent move to FL was based on something other than business. That needs looked into pronto. Why they refuse to give aide to Gabby or share what happened to her was selfish & helped cover up the murder. They protected him after the commission of a crime aided him knowing what he had & was doing. They could have anonymously give the info to the family or cops. The arrogance of driving her van back using her money & bank card is disgusting. The atty knows what happened & so do his parents. Shame on both for torturing her parents even now. They knew what Brian was they raised him with male dominance and saw his actions time & time again. They knew he was dangerous. They did not warn her or help her ever. She did not have a lot of self esteem or she would have realized she could do much better & should have walked away. She does what to many young women do. They think they can "change or teach" the guy how to act better etc. in day to day interacting. I think she loved him thinking this might be possible. She has seen his temper before this trip. She obviously thought she could calm him down when needed. This was not the first attack verbal or physical abuse from him. Interesting if any friends or former girls will ever speak to who they say behind the mask. I AM NOT BLAMING GABBY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. SHE WAS INNOCENT AND TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AWFUL PPL. THEY ABUSED HER too. Just pointing out some similar behaviours across the board from psycho & sociopaths. Gabby seemed such a free spirit, lovely & sweet young lady. It was horrible how everyone let her down when so many steps along the way it could have saved her life. I am not blaming her parents either just to be clear. They are victims of Brian & his parents. Just horrible all the way around.

agreed! i love my family to death and would die for them but i would still never cover up a murder in any way if one of them did something like what happened to poor Gabby. it’s devastating that her family not only lost their daughter but also had to be out through everything that happened since they realize she was missing to today at the hands of an evil sick man and his garbage parents. i can’t imagine that terror and dread they felt when she was missing, while they look for her murderer, every time they have to go to court to try and get justice for their daughter, etc. it’s sick that this evils man’s parents only make their already horrifically tough lives even worse. i hope one day they get the justice they deserve and can experience some semblance of peace knowing that they did everything possible to get Gabby the justice shes deserved for so long.

I have suspected that the Laundries "suicided" their son. Didn't the gun belong to them? Surely mom knows from working in law her Miranda rights. Right to remain silent. Right to an attorney etc. Roberta Laundry immediately lawyered up, refused to discuss anything with anybody, picked up Brian's car parked in swamp, coincidentally near where month's later they just happened apon his remains. Deceased Brian has on his person a crazy cover up love letter from mom referencing children's books and the bible all in the name of how much she loves her son ? Robertas actions spoke louder than words when she wouldn't respond to the Petito's. The Laundries lead LE on an expensive goosechase around the nature preserve knowing full well where his body was but had to give nature time to destroy forensic evidence.
How ironic to put the letter with Brian's name on it from his mother and a notebook with his sugar coated confession in a dry bag to preserve it.
Brian's backpack also contained a notebook with a crazy suicide love letter to Gabby. I suspect that In some twisted way the letters were written together on that camping trip to justify their actions as a mercy Killing, and letter describing a twisted warped mothers love. Not sure how dad fits into this. Perhaps he was abusive as well?
If he did suicide himself, Brian wanted the letter to be found and knew burn after reading would attract someone's attention. Well, here we are paying attention.
Nowhere has it been discussed about motive, any remorse, or any apologies. I think the Laundries actions are strange indeed . I think not only are they covering up what Brian did but covering up for murdering or at least participating in an assisted suicide of their son.
I know my theories and ramblings sound crazy. I may be 100% wrong. Truth is stranger than fiction. Only difference is fiction has to make sense.'

Lmao, happens every single day in courtrooms all over the USA. It’s astonishing how many people are completely ignorant of the Laws in the USA. Facts are what matter & Feelings have no place in the justice system. Any person that has never been told that when questioned about anything, police or persons, that you are to remain silent & is told to every single person when they come into contact with any police officer or they have the cases dismissed immediately. Please learn the law and quit crying about the Laws that allow them to remain silent and follow the advice of their atty.

I know this sounds from way left field but you have got to do a side by side photo comparison of Brian and Steve Bertalino. They both have the same exact weird looking ears. Bertalino was a long time family friend ? They shared more than just a friendship ..More like they shared the same DNA. I believe Brian is Steve Bertalino’s son. From mosesandrooth law firm:
      FLORIDA RELATED PERSON EXEMPTION
Under Florida law, a spouse, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, brother or sister, or a person otherwise related by blood or marriage to the principal actor cannot be charged with aiding and abetting under most circumstances. However, extended family members could face charges, including aunts, uncles, or cousins.
What is the rationale behind the related person or family exemption? The reasoning is that it is unrealistic to expect family members to turn in their spouse, child, parent, etc. The duty to one’s family will often outweigh any responsibility a person might feel toward their moral or legal obligations. As a result of these public policy concerns, the Florida legislature has carved out this exemption to aiding and abetting.
      Exception To The Exemption
There is an important caveat to the exemption. If the crime involves child neglect, child abuse, or results in the death of a child, the related person exemption does not apply. Any family member, regardless of whether they are immediate or not, can be charged.

      Federal law
      Obstruction of justice
      Definition
18 U.S.C. § 1503 defines "obstruction of justice" as an act that "corruptly or by threats or force, or by any threatening letter or communication, influences, obstructs, or impedes, or endeavors to influence, obstruct, or impede, the due administration of justice."
      Overview
Someone obstructs justice when that person has a specific intent to obstruct or interfere with a judicial proceeding. For a person to be convicted of obstructing justice, that person must not only have the specific intent to obstruct the proceeding, but that person must know (1) that a proceeding was actually pending at the time; and (2) there must be a connection between the endeavor to obstruct justice and the proceeding, and the person must have knowledge of this connection.
§ 1503 applies only to federal judicial proceedings. Under 18 U.S.C. § 1505, however, a defendant can be convicted of obstruction of justice by obstructing a pending proceeding before Congress or a federal administrative agency. A pending proceeding could include an informal investigation by an executive agency.

Yes, I don't think the sister is in on anything shady.
Mrs. Laundrie and the son Brian are closely bonded. She treats him as a golden child, probably used her daughter as scapegoat, or just neglected her to emphasize her love for Brian and shine a light on his exalted position in the family.
The daughter has put a healthy distance between herself and her birth family.
She's focused on her husband and children and taking care of her own household and family.
Mr. Laundrie just supports the whole show and stays quiet.
Brian seemed like a person who just cannot Do Anything, due to his mother's smothering and spoiling.
What, he can't get himself a shovel? - his mommy has to send him one from five states away?!
Brian: Uh, where's the shovel store?

The statement , in itself is not the issue, but if there is wvidence( of which I presume there is), that the family and their attorney KNEW Gabby was dead, does make the statement problematic. It shows that they knowingly and willingly portrayed she was alive, yet had the knowledge she wouldn’t be returned to her family in that manner.
This can also show harm, and further distress not only to the Petito family, but to all others still searching for her!
It would have only took a moment for either one of his parents to come forth and admit, that unfortunately, they knew she was not alive.
For the length of time that went by, that is a lot of suffering counting each day. And a jury can count each day they knew, but pretended she was going to be found and return home to her family! 😢 I cannot imagine the pain and anguish this mom and dad and her family and friends feel. Praying for Justice, for Gabby Petito’s family!

It’s about time those in the law are made responsible for their actions and face justice.

The attorney acts like he’s representing the Bertolino attorney . The lawyer for Petito/Schmidt is right, and sites case law, the defense argument is weak, complaining about deadline, because he has nothing else. He also played down seriousness of what bertolino and the laundries did right when Gabby went missing, forward!
