My problem with my Jetta. Thank you sooo much. This has been stressing me out. Broken key was stuck in the ignition. Got it out with this vid in maybe 2 mins.

My key would not turn to on position. Turn the key and hold tension on it while tapping on wheel lock with hammer. Locking lever inside will not fully depress until both holes line up. I also left clip in place while re-installing into new housing. My OEM ignition housing was hard to turn at first. Some people say not to but I had to cycle the housing, with a flat head, thru Acc, On, and off a few times to free it up. Just put it back in the ON position before re-installing the lock. Pay attention to the position of the start switch too.

Works 100%. Cylinder must be in the on position for the pin to enter. 👍🏻👍🏻

Do you need VCDS along with a PIN code to reprogram keys? Or can you reprogram them by inserting the key in the ignition while holding the unlock button.
I would like to know that one as well

How to do on golf 6?
I have a problem with the radio sometimes works but sometimes no.

The key got stuck in the swich, what did you do?
Does anyone know how to remove the black plastic with the immo coil from the metal housing of the ignition lock cylinder that was took apart from the whole metal structure?
Asking as perhaps the coil is dead and I need to replace it.
I have the same problem... any answer?
Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery when you do that ? Thanks for this useful video !
ch444z Yes, it is better to disconnect the battery when you operate with anything wired.
@@Servicetutorials thank you ! I will do it so :)
Hi does this work on a golf mk5 gti? Is it possible to remove the lock without taking everything off like the steering etc?
Hi! It is exactly the same on a Golf MK5. Yes, it is possible to remove the lock without taking everything off.
Any tip for when the key won't turn to ON position? It only turns 1/3 way, so the PIN won't insert all the way yet
Exactly!!!! these videos always do the basics
Will it start without transponder
No
Cómo sacaste los tornillos sin cabeza que sujetan el traba volante ???
U have to use a small dremel tool to make a groove on top of the screw so u can use a flathead screwdriver to unscrew it. OR, use a small pointed cold chisel and a hammer. Place tip of cold chisel on right side of the screw head and tap with a hammer so it unscrews it
What if u can't turn the key to on position
can this method work on T4
Yes, it’s the same procedure.
I have a 2015 Passat TDI key won't go in how to repair it please help
Hello! You can try this method first. See here: ua-cam.com/video/lKUfIIZlcS0/v-deo.htmlsi=0RTRTwx6t04Ms1Ut
I have one that does not turn the key as is done in that case so that the key turns and can be repaired
cerrajeria multllaves Hi! You can look on our website how to remove the ignition lock.

@T . R . E What button part are you talking about? I also can't get my key to the on position
@T . R . E this worked for me too. Turn the key and hold tension on it while tapping on wheel lock with hammer. Locking lever inside will not full depress until both holes line up. I also left clip in place while re-installing into new housing.
Legit why no video says this thank you so much
What if my key doesn’t turn all the way anymore. Is there still a way to remove this part?
sama here, I cannot turn my key all the way to ON position anymore.. I messed up something with the pin, i believe..
El Capitan so what I ended up doing was grabbing a screw driver that didn’t fit into the hole all the way and I hammered it down pretty hard and the gears or whatever is in there came loose and my key was able to turn after that. Once I was able to turn it I did what he said it the video and then I flushed it out with WD-40 until the part was clean.
El Capitan also when I did it I was fully prepared to just buy a new part completely so I banged pretty hard but I didn’t mess anything up bc the screw driver wasn’t small enough to fit all the way in.
Turn the key and hold tension on it while tapping on wheel lock with hammer. Locking lever inside will not full depress until both holes line up. I also left clip in place while re-installing into new housing.
Brilliant video, but how do i open my ignition without the key do you know perhaps, I'm struggling
You can’t. You have to use the car key.
Can I do this with the ingnition on the vehicle?
No. Why do you want that?
@@Servicetutorials Because mine stopped working, it became loose and I don't know if I have to buy new keys, I'm starting the car directly to the switch with an other tool, but I'm going to fix it soon, thanks for your help!
@@Servicetutorials I tried to remove the ignition lock like you did, but with the ignition house on the vehicle, but I couldn't.
Hey I have a '01 B5 2.8q automatic and everything (lights, turn signals ect.) All work fine just sometimes it take up to 10 turns of my key before the starter kicks in and turns the moter over. Is this the part that I need to change? Or it it the ignition switch on the other side of that piece?
Any help would be great!.. thanks...
@@RedPilldaBiblia It's a little bit difficult if you do that for the first time.
Now what if you cant turn the key to the on postion
If you can't turn the key, you can't take the immobilizer out.
@@Servicetutorials well i drilled a hole and smacked it out with a hammer and screwdriver but now another problem its locked in off and i cant get it to turn back to on
What do you do if I can’t turn the key to the on position?
Same, did you solve it?
Please answer this question
@@christoffgoff4694 You move it around, shake the switch and maybe hit it a few times until it moves. Worked for me. If not, there is no other way of keeping everything intact.
For anyone reading this recently, if your key doesn't turn to the ON position, you have to dismantle everything. This video is very thorough:

Hello. I have a 2017 GTI (tiptronic) and the key won't twist. It rotates a little, but then stops and feels like a solid stop. The headliner lights and radio turn on, but nothing else. I have wiggled the key, turned the steering wheel, etc., but no luck. The shifter also will not let me shift into neutral.
I can remove the key will remove from the ignition. Will the paperclip work to release the cylinder?
Tomorrow I will try pressing the manual release for the Shift Lock and disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
Any ideas are much appreciated.
Did you figure out how to get it out? I'm having the exact same problem

Hello. Is it possible to remove only the plastic antenna?
Hello! I don’t know if you could do that. Sorry!
So what do you do if the key does NOT turn or further more the key will NOT go in to the switch???? That's the big question!!! How do you remove the ignition barrel?
You’ll remove the ignition barrel and then you dissasemble it.
@@Servicetutorials Cannot remove the ignition barrel. I had this scenario today. I removed the whole switch from an Audi A3, and the barrel has gone bad. The key will not go into the barrel, and the barrel will not come out without turning it to position 1 and use the clip. So my only option is to cut the barrel will a cutting tool.
If the steering wheel lock gets engaged during this process you'll have to remove it all. Most important thing is disconnect the battery first so you don't activate the antitheft bullshit
I disconnected the batterij but still it blocked when I tried to turn it without the cilinder in it. Now can’t get it from the steering lock anymore. Advice? Have to drill the unit screws out and remove it all?
@@tworoelio you can drill out the spring and lick pin. I dont like sending people to my channel from someone else's but I posted some info on my channel. Dremel is nice if you have to remove the side pin lock
MISLEADING... wasting time

Dude. All you did was remove and reinsert the lock cylinder from the ignition housing... No immobilizer. Why lie?
Thank you for the nice feedback!
agreed.. nothing related immo.. misleading topic.
I loathe these kind of videos instructional mechanical video with no speach or printed word just a guy bumbbling around with something and there's some music in the background what's the point this is UA-cam multimedia get with it
You just make something very easy look difficult. You forgot to show the key in the on position first . The hole you put the pin down often lines up with a corresponding dot mark on the barrel outer surround. (Transponder ring) Easier videos throughout UA-cam to follow.
Thank you for this. I struggled with it for quite a while until I read your comment about lining the hole up with the dot. After I did this, it came right out. Why didn't they say or show this in the video?
At 45 seconds the words "turn the key to the on position" is written on the screen!
Any advice on reinstalling the cylinder. I put key in on position. I steered paper clip. It goes in but doesn’t allow me to turn the key on or off. I lined up the housing to accept the cylinder as well. I tried it in all 3 positions. Off on and started up. Maybe it’s the Amazon part that isn’t good. Might buy a better one online
