- The full "Alien: Romulus" trailer just came out and looks fantastic. It appears to be a blend of the tension from the first "Alien" movie, the action-packed intensity of "Aliens" and the horror of the "Alien: Isolation" game. In the first few seconds, a station is revealed in the distance, with the letters possibly reading "Acheron," the same terraforming base on LV-426 from the movie "Aliens." I always thought the blue mist was a kind of barrier that kept the eggs from activating when living beings were around it, made by the engineers to keep themselves safe while walking around them
That's smart
always saw it as a security system. It detected motion, as you can see when kane steps down. It gives away an eerie sound. My guess it was a motion detector for the space jockey so he knew if any egg would hatch.
I think as soon as you break through this blue barrier, the eggs are activated, hormonally or something.
Yes that’s what I always understood as well. Makes sense that since Andy is a synth, he would investigate it, since he isn’t biological maybe he wouldn’t set off the security system(?)
For me, I see it more as a motion sensor, some kind of alert system, perhaps alerting the Ships inhabitants of movement down in the cargo bay where the eggs were kept. I remember hearing and seeing the light accompanied by a very soft but discernible tone when the light was broken by the Nostromo crew.
Feels like Alien Isolation... and that is a good thing

Alvarez said he was inspired by Isolation. He played it and felt compelled to turn it into a movie.
When Andy's eyes roll , there looks to be hands behind him and apparently when you zoom in on the white eyes , the weyland yutani logo shows

I love how the girl at 2:34 has her hand up and the sun creates a shadow on her face that resembles the face hugger

I too love the direction that Prometheus and Covenant were going. But I also think Romulus is going to be a great horror/thriller...hopefully it's also somewhat of a continuation of Covenant.

The scene where you see the xenomorph emerging from something in the hive was it moulting its exoskeleton probably going from a drone to a warrior or warrior into something bigger.
I think that would be really cool.
I thought that was cool they’re showing molting in the movie when I saw that. You can see it’s hands holding its head as it comes out of the old exoskeleton

POTENTIAL SPOILERS there's a huge chance its melting into a queen xenomorph because you can see two little arms and as a different guy pointed out the queen has a extra pair of smaller forearms who knows maybe big chap turns into the queen from aliens
Indeed it certainly looks like the Clear Carapace is Melting away with the Xenomorph holding on to the Top of its Head.
Has it suffered a Injury to its Head?
Or indeed we could be seeing the Drone, Molting into a Warrior which would help draw some connective tissue to ALIENS, but i certainly don't see a Queen being in this Movie...... but who knows...
I certainly don't think that the Drone is the ONLY Xenomorph in this Movie

The part where the girl is trapped behind the door reminds me of Covenant. Also when she is crawling under the grate reminds me of Newt in Aliens.
Pretty bummed out they didn't continue the Prometheus storyline but Romulus does look promising. Now, maybe this film will introduce a Xenomorph king as the name "Romulus" is the name of the founder of ancient Rome.
I'm so disappointed in what I've seen so far. This movie doesn't look like it has a single unique or original idea so far. And to think, they abandoned Prometheus for this??
Exactly.... Prometheus was an awesome frighting movie. I loved it I don't know why people hate on it so much. Covenant is the worst alien movie ever I'm not gonna lie but Prometheus fantastic
@@reginoramos9030agree, Prometheus had a strong sense of mystery and discovery. Elizabeth Shaw was such a good character too. And then they destroyed it.
I agree. I think the studio played it safe with an all-out action movie rather than going deep into Alien lore again. Too bad, I LOVED the David character again and would have loved to have seen what happened with him and the colonists. (even if a different actor played him)
For me Romulus is a big meh . We have already seen the ''crew trapped into a space station and being hunted by Xenomorphs'' type of Alien movies at least a thusand of times ...
Engineer/AI lore is far more fascinating ,with far more potential to surprise the viewer considering the existential questions that are being touched.
Dont't get me wrong im still going to watch Romulus but yeah not holding my breath for it. At least i hope it generates good revenue so Ridley can give some proper ending to the Engineer lore !
At least Ridley Scott was trying to expand the Alien univers. This new teen movie won't do much except give folks nostalgia....

Well its not like we will be getting many survivors... so they are all pretty much going to die, the Trailer does confirm the Fate of one Character but you can't really have a ALIEN movie without a Chest Burster
With a Small Cast... it will be interesting to see how each death is Handled, i don't think we will see more than ONE Chest Burster
A guy who worked on it has a big break down of the trailer and he hints that that isn't the case and there is a more than what we see.

Facts
Nah, I just want a good alien movie before I die. Missed the first two. Saw resurrection in theaters when I was 9. Even at a young age, I felt like that movie was trash compared to the others. 3 seemed so much better as a kid than 4. I was so stoked for Prometheus, and like many was partially disappointed. Mostly with the stupidity of the characters/ odd ending. A lot of the religious undertones were so cheesy and pseudo intellectual, ancient aliens ridiculousness. Covenant isn’t even worth watching again after the trip to the theater. At least Prometheus has a bit of replay value. So forgive me when I say I couldn’t give two cents about the engineers or David or any stupid answer to the question of life seen through the lens of a horror movie…?
I hope we will never see and Engineers anymore. It should have stayed mystery. And I liked Prometheus & covenant, but it's bull shit, in Alien 1979 the spacejokey is about 3meters tall at least. The engineers looks 1m50 at best

Absolutely agree with your views. Just want to enjoy the ride and have a Good Alien movie before I’m dead too. After waiting for so many years, still has not a Good enough Alien sequel or prequel to have that elusive satisfaction.. 😅
@@s.tegosaurus I think the problem is with Prometheus A lot of stuff was cut. You can look up some of the deleted dialogue where the engineers talk about how they sent a human boy to live among them and return to earth to teach humans the ways of paradise and we killed him a.k.a. Jesus, I don’t know if that helps the story flow for you better but I wish Prometheus would’ve answered more questions.
That covenant cliffhanger had me wanting and waiting for the next movie this looks good but it doesn't have David in it 😢

@@J479fstknvds David is overrated, he's not the creator of anything he says he did, there was thousands of specimens from the derelict at LV-426 way before Prometheus. You can watch Alien, with an updated commentary about the crashed derelict being there for thousands of years.

Looks like they are playing it safe. I'm not sure at age 70 I need to see more of this.... But I was drawn into the "lore". I'd love to see a continuation exploring the Engineers and Synthetics' role in originating the Xenomorphs...
Jump scares with panicked, idiotic teenagers getting dismembered in space will have to wait... but I'll get around to it eventually.... unless there is a gigantic surge of support when it's released, like what happened with Godzilla Minus One.

audiences were to stupid to appreciate the engineers storyline possibilities, most people just want a monster and screams, why they cant make both type when there seems to be a dozen superhero movies a year I don't know.
I would love to see an alien movie go back to the intense action formula of the 2nd alien movie. I would like to see the full might of the military unleashed on the aliens. They could have militarized versions of synthetics going in and laying waste to nests.
I wanted more David lore.

I don’t believe they’ve confirmed, or even implied, that the planetoid they’re on at the beginning of the film is LV-426(Acheron). It could very well just be another “shake n’ bake” colony in the process of being terraformed. The way that Van Leuwen spoke to Ripley about it implied that it’s something the company had been doing for a while, on more than a few worlds, by the events of Aliens.
Yeah having the World they are leaving to be LV-426 is too much of a Convenience....to then have the Space Station (Orbiting Calpamos) so close to the Colony... but we can't rule out that the Station is Orbiting that Planet

Regarding the Mist... it appears that we have similar in this Movie and so it will be interesting to see how this came to be, as the logical conclusion for it in ALIEN would be to Prevent any Eggs from Opening etc, unless someone came within close Range/under the Beam etc. We had to assume it was a Engineer/Space Jockey Safety Device... but WHY we see similar in Alien Romulus in a area of the Space Station that appears to have undergone some Xenomorph Hive Tera forming is interesting.. but i think it would be odd that the Xeno Hive produces it

Thank you for this analysis. Your gifted at subtle detail discernment, I as well would hope to see the line of Covenant be pursued at some point. Perhaps is the Universal draw towards Source or God or our Creation that is of deepest interest. Focus on horror is of less intrigue than to understand how that comes to be in the first place. Your analysis and details are always good. This new movie will disappoint many for not bringing out the detailed background and try to go off to a less revealing one. I'll definitely not watch it in cinemas to waste money.

The theme seems to be a familiar one, keeping the xenomorphs from reaching earth at all cost. Throw away the theme and let the creatures get to earth, and see how fresh of a story can be told from that perspective.

Eh I don't... I'm glad they essentially retconned all that and is returning to form. Maybe if this movie does well, we'll get the "real Alien 3" that we were supposed to get with the "Chappie" director (dont remember his name sry), so we can continue having more sequels after that, as well...

Unfortunately a lot of the backstory Kroft talked about turned out to be from a fan-made script. The black goo has nothing to do with 'the blood of the Deacon' for example.
Anyone else notice in the near last shot that someone is floating through space and basically there is alien blood all strung out in space that they are about to float into

it's a wolf :) it's a depiction of Romulus and Remus taking milk from the wolf that raised them (they founded rome)

I hope Ridley is working on a follow on from Covenant & Prometheus, as the direction of the Engineer's & David was definitely worth exploring further. I know they can never please everyone & there was a lot of ppl who just want monster movies, but a story where David goes to the Engineer home world could be amazing, as there's references to both David & the Engineer' in this trailer.
The girl at the end is NOT Rain. She looks like Isabela Kay in the movie.

Love the whole franchise, especially David. I watched 3 of your videos back to back, I saw Alien when it first came out in the cinema in the late 70s (79?) I mix it up with Blade Runner for some reason which I also saw but, because of who my date was it must have been in the 80s. I think it's about time for a new Alien movie right enough but would love to see more of David's story.
Very good analysis and breakdown. I just hope every scene of this trailer makes it to the Final Cut. I kinda have doubts about that scene where alien roars and shows inner jaw to the tied up girl. A little throwback at alien 3.

Could the planet they’re terraforming, atmospheric processing and then leaving at the beginning of the trailer for the Renaissance Station be: ORIGAE 6?
8:32 On the PROMETHEUS dvd extras you can read Peter Weyland's notes. He states that long range scans had detected a transmission indicating a possible life form. Given Ash's Special Order 937 he could have known about LV426 before the NOSTROMO left Thedus. Remember Dallas told Ripley that the company assigned Ash to the Nostromo 2 days before they left. However, Special Order 937 could have been downloaded to MUTHR when the NOSTROMO's crew were in cryo-sleep. So Ash's would not have known before the NOSTROMO departed Thedus.

14:50 I'm pretty sure that's the Big Chap emerging from the cacoon he made for himself while floating in space, which you see entering the airlock later in the trailer.
I really hope the explanation around how they got Big Chap's remains makes sense. I'm confident Fede knows what he's doing... but that is the one thing that I'm worried about.
Thank heavens were getting away from Prometheus and the other one. Both ignored the original Space Jockey and attempted to turn it into a 7ft bald weightlifter.
Both leads were killed off and both movies focused on AI. I don't give a f**k about AI, I'm here for the alien.
@@barryauguste9734 There's a theory that the pilot is not an engineer, it's a creature with cyborg elements, and that the company is trying to clone it, so that the creature can give Weyland knowledge about humanity, and ways to use the Xenomorph as a bioweapon. With the creature admitting, it set it's ship at LV-426, because it became infected. And it's original intent was to bomb another planet before the accident happened.
i though the next sequel would have been David at war with the engineers. very disappointing

The thing that just came to mind is how everyone keeps saying how Ai is going to take over humanity and all that stuff plus how robots going to start a war against humans like in the terminator or matrix. Here you have a time frame that’s not to far away from today’s world but we’re still super far away in technology of the alien movies, my point is you have a “Ai” or robot so fascinated in the alien life, their basically trying to kill the human race by converting humans into the alien species and how Ai is going to be our demise if we keep up with Ai development. A lot of these fictional movies and stuff that gotta deal with robots, aliens, and Ai seems like documentaries more than some fantasy movie someone came up with. 🤔 I’m saying mankind so interesting in finding other life forms and wanna live in other planets, that we’re heading right in that direction on how a lot of these fictional movies be.
But I’m thinking way too much into this. Forget everything I just said. 😅

I hope somehow David caused the infestation somehow. Maybe he hid a ovamorph or something in the cargo like a sneaky snitch. I ain’t gonna suffer through bad movies with good lore and just not want to hear about David and what he did on the colony ship. Even one name drop would get me hyped.
Horror is the easiest way to write a movie with no plot. Sucks for fans who actually enjoyed thinking during the last couple movies.

I’ve got faith that if this does well? It could plausibly result in Ridley Scott being green lit to finish telling his Prometheus story, and he may even invite Alvarez to work with him (Scott sounds riveted by Romulus in interviews and statements). That’s plausible.
Already had low expectations because the directors previous movies, and I agree that this looks like just another dressed up monster chase horror movie, when I was hoping for more of a Prometheus/Covenant type of movie...

Big call dude. Off course it's subjective but he has made some bangers, especially his remake of Evil Dead. The first 3 Alien films are basically the same movie, and they are loved (sure some people have issues with the 3rd) but this has the feel of the same horror Alien film that is loved by the fan base.
