    Interesting that you are having a problem with ARB Lynx.

      I had the guys at ARB check out then replace the main cable and it has pretty well be great ever since… a couple of intermittent drop outs when no GPS but otherwise much better 👍

    U could get a rebuild and put in the beathed up 5ft gear conversion kit but it's still not recommended to tow in 5ft , the old cruisers there based around old reliable truck technology that's proven it's self that's why they still make them , bullet proof old girls , if u don't like the high revs and fuel consumption towing in 4ft gear , oo well

    Bin the Firestyrker as I did with my 2nd spare after using one. You have to get way too close to the fire and hold it there for it to be of any use. Useless. I now carry 2 x 1kg & a 2kg, std fire extinguishes. I know you have a new rig but pls secure all fire ext.

    Great wheel bag bin. Heads up, the Willow 30lt kitchen bin slides inside perfectly. I use that along with a garbage bag so that it holds shape when full. It also mean that when its time to empty and clean it, the bag pulls out easily and there is never any liquids or spills inside the actual bag. Just like at home.

    Word of warning, it's not advised to tow in 5th. 5th is an overdrive gear and will blow the gearbox if you're loading up 5th

      I had my Pajero 17 yrs and never had issues with the (manual ) gearbox , as long as you are in the right rev range it will be fine to tow in 5th, don’t put it under load…. So roughly above 3000rpm, under that…. Back to 4th

    • @TheOldFellasTravels
      @TheOldFellasTravels Рік тому

      I does mention in the owners manual to not use 5th as a tow gear but in view of compression braking, but not specifically to damage. It's an interesting conversion to pursue.

    • @Stephen0001
      @Stephen0001 Рік тому +1

      It’s basically the gearbox from the 100 Series. That’s why the V8 is detuned to match the power & torque of the 100 Series engine. Towing in 5th is definitely not a good idea. Higher revs from 4th also help to reduce exhaust gas temps.

    • @iandibley8032
      @iandibley8032 Рік тому +1

      Correct definitely tow in 4th gear. There are plenty of failed gearboxes towing heavy loads in 5th gear.

    I would look at fitting Koni shock absorbers instead of those ARB with the oil tank. I have them on my 2017 seventy-six series, and have travelled the Madigan Line across the Simpson, all of the Beadell tracks, and some good tracks through the Flinders. They have performed magnificently. On a recent tag along, several of the ARB shocks on other vehicles developed leaks and got very hot. Two failed completely. Our tour leader had a temperature gauge and regularly measured them all. Koni were never anywhere near as hot as the others. And they are still performing well with no hint of failure. Additionally, if and when needed, they can be repaired or refurbished.

    Re: your catch can. I have the same one in my LC200. Don’t let it get that full and don’t wait for a service to have it emptied. You can easily do it yourself. Buy a syringe from Supercheap (Item # 557069) and a short length of appropriate diameter plastic tube and draw that oil out with the syringe. If you leave it and it gets too full it can cause severe and expensive engine problems. Check it and empty it every time you lift the bonnet. I also agree with the earlier comment about not towing in 5th. Use 4th. It’s 1:1 ratio and is the strongest gear in the box. The slightly higher revs will help clear the combustion chambers of hot gases and keep those exhaust gas temps down.
