What have William and Catherine done for the monarchy, exactly? The busiest royal with the most active engagements has, for years, been the Princess Royal, doing her duty quietly and without great recognition.
Charles has been around for a lot longer and done far more than William and Catherine. He has genuine academic interests and a philanthropic spirit. The public response to his coronation doesn't suggest any weakening of his popularity.
Queen Elizabeth was greatly loved and admired even by republicans. Not many people disliked her on a personal level, whatever their thoughts on the monarchy as an institution.

Remember, not only did Diana have the angst of her parents' marital breakup, but she early on realized that the only reason she was born was to get an heir, finally fulfilled in the birth of her younger brother, Charles, now the current Earl Spencer. Both her sisters dated Charles and were cast aside while he was in his "wild oats sowing" years. No aristocrat is going to warn a marriageable-aged daughter from an heir to the throne.
I might be criticized as an American but this ongoing system of monarchy seems a bit insane to me. The history of royals hasn't been admirable. Just going back to Victoria the influence of her family was really destructive. Her strange widowhood of obsessive devotion to her dead husband whom she abdicated all her control to while giving birth to a brood of children was bizarre. She ignored them after delivery because she saw them as a unfortunate result of her passion for husband. She married them to other royal families maintaining influence all over Europe and Russia. Vicky gave birth to a deformed Wilhelm who she ignored because he was deformed and didn't meet royal standards. Even when he sent her bizarre incestuous letters she ignored his desperate twisted desire for affection. He compensated by declaring a world war to achieve the attempt at acquiring an empire like his grandmother. It's amazing that a family can maintain generational power based on nothing but the accident of birth. These royals have no real skill or education in leadership and no real contact with the reality of life in English society. They maintain massive wealth but they're paid millions in addition to being completely pampered with servants who wake them, feed them, dress them, drive them, fly them, protect them, advise them, care for and educate their children and keep secrets for them. The overwhelming cost of their weddings and ceremony are born by the people as well. While they have ongoing affairs throughout marriages destroying lives, commit sexual assault against minors, associate with sex traffickers pay off victims. Yet they choose pet projects and influence with delusional ideas from living completely unconnected to real life influencing policy and opinion. Now you have a queen who's the granddaughter of the mistress of the king's grandfather with whom he maintained an affair with throughout his abusive marriage to a woman he never wanted to marry! Yet this monarchy continues. America is completely screwed up right now but we have a system that might fix it. You've got a thousand plus years on us. What if you put the continuation of this monarchy to a vote?

I used to hate Charles, but now after learning more about him, I think he is good person in his heart, as he really does care about the environment, different religions, and human rights. He is very much similar to Diana in the humanitarian aspects, they are both forward-thinking individuals. Now even though I still love Diana (especially the good deeds and charitable work she did), I start to appreciate Charles more and understood the pressure he had from the Queen mother and older royals. It was a tragedy but as for the future, I wish him well as king and hope he can do more charitable work for the country.

The public is wrong to blame Charles for the ending of the royal marriage. He can't marry just anyone, though he should be able to, as the rules should change, and to change them Charles now as King should institute Polygamy, and the English Harem system. That means Royals can have multiple woman, not wives, just Concubines and members of the Royal and nobility Harem. No need for mistresses. He can do so openly, and with pride as Harems are for the rich, and those of noble birth. Think of Diana as the 'head wife' or 'wife number one' with multiple other wives, or concubines. Camilla was, and still is, his best friend. She's insanely intelligent, extremely learned, and is wickedly funny. She was also an athlete like Charles, and a horsewoman as well. She's down to earth and , yes, humble. While deeply tragic, Diana's death had nothing to do with the Royal Family. I harbor no ill will toward Charles, I think he is a complex but good hearted man. Perhaps I see King Charles III quite differently as an American but I have watched & witnessed his accomplishments for many, many years. There’s always going to be people who will say negative things as if they know him, yet they don’t. I look at the man’s lifetime for none of us are made up of one Season of our lifetime. I see a caring, giving hardworking and loving man. Perfect? No. But, who among us are perfect? None. I’ve always felt the ones who stay so vehemently against Charles has likely been the ones who are most guilty themselves. The true Christians will hold no records of wrong for they know it’s not their place. I believe people who have lived and learned over their own lifetime, will be generous in giving this remarkable man a fair chance at being the King. He’s been the hardest working and most successful Prince of Wales of all times so that should tell everyone who will be the Monarch. A gracious and giving man with interests in the World and the future of the people of n this future. He’s a kind and loving Spouse, Father, Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He’s everything anyone could possibly ask him to be and more. I hope the people will be gentle, loving and accepting of him as he has given his entire life for Duty & Service, just as his Mother, Queen Elizabeth II. For King Charles service is a privilege and an honor. He’s been the man behind so many things to empower the future of young people and the growth of programs to house so many. He’s a free thinker who knew there was a huge problem with our climate and saving our World. When others laughed, he pressed on, seemingly unaffected by the naysayers. Sadly, this never should’ve been. He was wise and brilliant. He’s a wonderful and gifted man who has made the World a better place by having been part of it from the time he was born throughout his lifetime. He will be a wonderful King and Monarch. Hopefully, he will live a long, healthy and happy life which will see him as the Sovereign for many years. He’s a blessing but like so many, he will truly never be fully appreciated until he’s gone and the void is so obvious. I pray he has many years ahead. I pray his son, William, remains at his side as his greatest supporter. I also pray his younger son simply allows him to live in peace. It’s easy to create a villain of the remaining parent while making a monument of the one who passed so young but we know that’s not the truth. It’s simply normal for some to feel this way as they need someone to blame. Accidents happen to people each and every day of life. We cannot blame everyone for these things and live. Thankfully, William has the maturity and understanding to see the truth and embrace the goodness of life and the time he has with his Father. God Save the King!

No way, will the public in the UK feel that is true, even though he had her crowned queen in the UK and he is King!, I have lost all respect for the Royals now. To think our tax money provides them with all the Luxury they get, pay for the Castles, they have, pay for everything they want!

Every body has different opinion about King Charles , if he is happy he will do his job very well , a pitty their marriage didn’t work , what happened to Lady D was a terrible accident and although they where divorce he is always blame for what ever happened, now he is happy with Camila and I think they should leave them alone , he will be a great King
It was no accident, look up all the details of the crash on you tube, it reeks of a planned assassination of Diana, but also killed her royal driver who was an expert royal driver? would he have just hit Piler13 ? and not soon after would also be dead by setting his body on fire? come on, he was taken out as well by the establishment to stop him spilling the real truth
