You mentioned stock head gasket, which is after all an MLS gasket which is a good thing plus I noticed in the pics it looks like it also has head studs so that’s plenty for a pump gas motor, car is going to be sick!
I don't mean to be overly negative, but the emphasis being put on this looking new hasn't been met. Throwing on a few "new" parts is fine and all, but you haven't restored the original finishes to match (head, block, ancillary studs, nuts, etc). Functionally, sure it's new. Aesthetically it takes a significant amount of time and labor than you've currently invested to achieve that. Speaking from experience with the S54 specifically.
Ouchhhh taking them to school right off the rip B!! Not surprised to find you here man haha if they only knew lol maybe next time a big Shot UA-camr will hear about your craftsmanship and have you “restore” an s54 and show everyone really how it’s done! Larry needs to document what the guys and I already know. That’s content I would subscribe to all day….The world needs to know 🙂 Ps still couldn’t get the alarm fob to work since last week I’m pulling hairs =[
Fair criticism but 15 videos in 17 years and 85 subscribers. Sounds like you need to put your money where your mouth is brother. You know what they say; "Show up or shut up"

So, THATS what happened to that HPF faulty block rebuild. The very first HPF S54 blocks were rebuilt by a terrible company in Portland that screwed up on a myriad of things. Oil squirters for the pistons would contact the pistons and be forced out. They used the wrong abrasive to hone the cylnders resultining in egg shaped bores.I dont know how much it took to fix all their blunders. HPF refused to fix some of these faulty rebuilds if a kit owner installed the kit themsleves. It was a BS move on HPF's part to not fix their obvious POOR CHOICE in choosing a rebuilder. The contracted out ALL lower rebuilds, BTW. The next company they used, M&B Cylinder Head Portland, OR produce rebuilt blocks of partuclaly meticulous and excelent workmanship. Lots of THOSE blocks are still on the road today. Even the Pistons and rings withstood many thousands of miles of up to 30psi boost! IDK at what point a top end rebuild was needed. I know they went for YEARS with no isisues. There were other reliablity issues with HPF that had nothing to do witht he second contractors block rebuild. This particular block was discovered years ago as faulty(by me) just as HPF was going out of business. Darn! It sat for years at PSI and was finally sold/relinquiched by the original owner F. I always worndered that block's fate and how much $$$$ it took to make it reliable.
No, not the S54! He said it is the new(ish) B58 that is in my best bro's BMW/Supra. The German 8 speed tranny they use is AMAZING too! My bro is doing 550 RWHP with just bolt on and a tune of an unlocked ECU done by this dude in Finland (three day turn arournd and express shipping). His ultra light BMW/Supra is STUPID fast. So tiny, I cant even get in the passenger seat at 6'4" and 250lbs. That car is made for midgets...who want to humiliate most other cars (NOT a Nissan GTR with $40K put in to it). Point is, that he made more HP with less $$ that usual for a complicated German car. The ZF-8 speed tranny is also is part of why he beats others like red head step children.
Oh no the german 2jz is the B58 with the stock engine internals handling 600+ hp and it's also in the new supra lol. S54 requires a lot of work just to bring it up the 600.
@@frontspring1 With old technology that was the case but not today. But anyways my point was that the B58 can handle way more power than the S54. If what you said was true that wouldn't be happening.
@@frontspring1 The S58 in the new M3 is making 600 whp without anything but just a tune. Some tuner shops made 900 plus without opening the engine which is just crazy. This new platform is proving itself.
imagine,imagine... dudes att bmw has lost all fantasy and creativity to make money and hoist bmw to compete with porsche..whyy not create a S58B40tii with a blend of old 507 chassie and E31....
s54 is the coolest motor 100%. Great work guys
Love it!!! One of the coolest engines built.. and as mentioned getting expensive by the day..

Hello, if you like e46 sedans, e46 m3 sedan turbo right here, making 530@ 11psi e85 stock compression S54
More interesting would be seeing someone getting big numbers all motor! we all know making high power boosted is not big deal anymore so...
Completely agree brother- let’s see 500BHP N/A

The work you shared on your instagram was a huge source of inspiration when completing my E30 S54 swap. Kudos to you and your attention to detail!

How much you charging to build my s54
Did you say ultimate sleeper? 😁
Wait but is this motor new..?

German 2j? Flat spot followers, big end failures, head gasket failures are all common. 2j is hard as nails and the s54 just isnt.

It's the German 2jz cast iron block.not alumimumshit
@@frontspring1 The aluminum block is making more power though.
@msquareyaro do you not know that a cast iron block is preferred in making long term reliable high horsepower.
