m3 e46 is my dream car too man, i drive an automatic 328i e90 07’ Naturally Aspirated around 200 hp do you think i should go to a 325i ci or 330 coupe or save up for the m3 ? i know how to drive manual, i know how to slide my 328i pretty well but i want to be able to stay in first or second without it jumping gears for me, what do you guys think ?
@@ayethatskj9932 If you don't want to save up for the m3, definitely go for the 330. I have a 01 330ci right now and I love it. The m3's have a few more necessary maintenance things you have to take care of compared to the 330, but definitely worth it if you can afford it or know how to work on theses cars.
As a person that has come from a 330 to an e46 m3, you need to get one. Two entirely different cars. I could never go back. The e46 m3 is a car everyone must drive. There are no modern BMW's that can EVER compare to the rawness and the driver's experience of an e46 m3
@@ImErice Agreed, had a E46 325CI and moved to an M3. Maintenance goes up without a doubt, but man...What an experience it is to drive. Still gives me goosebumps to this day and I've had it for 3 years.

I've owned an e46 before and I'm looking to get another. I would lean O.E.M with mods, so I would have liked to see what that change was.
Great video, just subscribed! Looking at getting an E46 M3. How much do you guys normally charge for the SMG to Manual swap? Thanks ! And I love how you guys do such a legitimate manual swap, good stuff!
@Chris Cruz love that you used a supersprint exhaust makes me really proud to be Italian. I'm actually looking to buy one, maybe not the m3 cuz you know, I'm only 21 lol. Do you have any advices?
Just a quick question I recently sold in 09 335i n54 kitchen gray. Which I really enjoyed the two smaller turbos made blowing power I really liked it I sold it looking for something different the kid that bought it didn't have all the money so he gave me and 05 E46 330. This car is definitely not as fun to drive being naturally aspirated and not as fast but I was just curious what something like a manual swap would cost for me to have done professionally by you
You don’t ‘need’ to run the alpha n tune on a CSL install, the correct way is the CSL clone map with a map sensor and AIT sensor. Alpha N is a default map that the car resorts to when it has no MAF….its the cheap way of having a CSL style intake. It’s rough as compared to the CSL tune. If your car is 2003> you most likely have the MSS54HP ecu so can flash the CSL tune if it’s pre face lift you get the ecu MSS54 cloned to the CSL ecu and run the correct software
That dssr shortshifter, it seems like i cant find it anywhere or i'm just not looking at the right place. Either way, is it intended for m3's only or does it fit regular e46 aswell?
That intake is definitely a TMS box, there's no option to attach the snorkel. With that intake and Alpha N tune, there is probably a significant drop in low end power.
Random question but are those hood insulation pieces really necessary? My body shop took mine off when repainting my hood and it was so worn they couldn’t put it back on they said. It’s over a hundred bucks to replace so just seeing if it’s worth replacing.
I had know idea of what the design idea like a expression of mechanical opitions like a good baseline to make my own art it being the art option it is or has a fill of flow for me to express what I want my car to say when you first meat her for the first time
m3 e46 is my dream car too man, i drive an automatic 328i e90 07’ Naturally Aspirated around 200 hp do you think i should go to a 325i ci or 330 coupe or save up for the m3 ? i know how to drive manual, i know how to slide my 328i pretty well but i want to be able to stay in first or second without it jumping gears for me, what do you guys think ?
SMG is far superior to manual; it’s just that people refuse to take the time to learn how to drive an M3 with it, or they bought a used SMG that needs maintenance. Unpopular opinion, but I stand by it firmly. I love a stick, but man, BMW took a manual and used hydraulics to make it shift so fast that I could never go back to a stick. You can still use the shifter like a manual in a way; it just doesn’t have a clutch pedal.
When SMG is brand new and operates as such it’s amazing. One of the things we see the most is its just cost comparison, new SMG pump is over $7k now and a swap is less and increases enjoyment and fun and deletes a known problem.
Your knowledge delivery is great🧨🫵🏼… I myself have a one series and you mentioned the guy behind the camera has one as well, where can we see his build sheet as I’m sure y’all have worked on his car… many thanks
does the manual swap make the transmission last longer than keeping it smg? curious about this. i love the smg, but if it means longer lasting transmission i would swap to manual
it’s the same physical gearbox as a manual, but less moving parts bc the hydraulics and electronics are deleted in lieu of a clutch pedal and shift linkage. i’d say less failure points but in terms of the transmission itself neglible change to reliability.
I wish e46 m3 would be a little lighter than what it was. I don't know why e46 gain so much weight compares to e36 m3. Compares to e92 m3, e46's weight is not light at all. Don't know why?
Alpha-N is not a race inspired tune. Its a very old method and way of tuning with pre determined fuel index tables. Its like using a default tune for when modern efi doesn't work. The correct way would be to use the csl dme and sensors
We are using the CSL sensor, airbox and DME software here. That happens to be Alpha-N, this is a full conversion done right. Every S54 race car we build runs a version of this airbox, sensor, and tune and for the S54 that is an industry standard to have the air flow needed for this engine to make alot of HP NA.
@@PrecisionSportIndustries ok. But the correct csl box using a slightly different DME and map sensor would be the proper way. I'm not bashing alpha n. I use it myself and have good Dyno proven HP
@@switch9 you would have to get your DME cloned to a csl spec and fit a Map sensor and pipe etc. If you wanted to used the Maf sensor, you would have to make it fit inside the csl airbox somehow, and did to the air volume, I don't think it would be accurate
