Good morning thank you so much for sharing your video with us I wanted to know the steps you take on clear coating it does that help the paint not come off if you put your gnome outside🤔
Hi Venna! I do enjoy your videos! Its finally going to be spring hear soon so I can once again start working with cement. Your creations are awesome! Thank you Venna!
Hi Venna! Loving your videos! which is your favourite cement "clay" to work with by this point? I've seen you use several different recipes and just wondering which is the best one. Thanks for sharing all your wonderful art process.
Hello Thank you for viewing. I like the recipe in this video it gives me enough play time and sets with a smoother finish and I have not has any cracking as it dries and it paints and seals well. 😁 As you see in all my videos I did a lot of different things as experiments and most have worked for me. You will also play around and you may come up with a recipe you like even better than mine😁 Have fun!
Oh my Valerie! 😊 Thank you. I do hope to give folks support in creating. I am so happy you find value in Mt videos. These little gnomes are one if my favorite things to make. Quick and easy and charming 😊 Thank you for viewing and your kind comments😊
Hi Brennam Omy my goodness ! I see the link I havevin the video discription does not work any more. I went back to Amazon and here is a new link. And Wow!! I bought mine for about $4 each now they are $15.67 😵💫 a.co/d/78yGclj
Good to see you gnome-ing again. I have a friend that would love this for her deck. I got discouraged to discover Portland cement came in 100 lb bags. Yikes!
Good morning.😊 I am sorry I am behind in my responses. My lowes has smaller bags I think 40 or 60 pounds but ya, still heavy. Yes I like the little gnomes a lot.
Hello Jenny, there are some cement products you can use to repair cement items. This clay is pretty good stuff. I don't know how good it would be for making repairs. If you try it and it works let me know😊 Thank you for viewing😊
I went through the same thing. German and Hispanic videos. I started my journey about 6 years ago. Alot of trial and error I still do that lol. I love the papercrete clay and this one. I have an order for gnomes, a snail and some chickens. I think I am going to add a little paper to this recipe. Clay Recipe 1/3c portland cement 1/3 c Thinset Tile adhesive 1/3 c white glue Knead with more portland cement if you want a stiffer clay.
I make a big mess too. You have to wash them out immediately. Cemental sets even in water. So scrape all the cement out of the bowl use it or throw it in your trash can. Then wash the bowl. Do not wash the bowl in your kitchen use your hose or bucket of water outside. The cement will set in your pipes in your kitchen so never wash your tools in the house.😊
It's me again I have another question out of all your recipes is this your favorite clay here this project you're teaching me .. no pressure in tended but seriously yes I do watch all your videos and I'm learning from you
Ugh! I did not seal the clay with the Minwax before painting with the outdoor paint, should I apply it now before using the Rustoleum sealer? PS Do you have a particular favorite outdoor paint?
I use Deco art patio paint I will also use Behr house paint I get the samples at Home Depot about 5 or 6 dollars for 8onces. This is latex paint so I amend it with acrylic bonding agent I find in the cement section of Home Depot or Lowe's. It's been a lot of experimenting😄
I have a request try can you makea dragon I've had a friend ask me if I could make one for her ...sure I said that's when I turn to you for help HELP! 😂 I LOVE watching your. Videos so inspiring!
Well, I did it! I used the cement clay recipe and, while it was messy, it was fun to do. I made a couple gnomes on top of upside down terra cotta pots. Can’t wait to paint them. I put them under plastic bags, is there a curing time like hypertufa?
WHOOHOO!!! 😁 I can't wait to see them on FB. I have not given them a specific time I just paint them when they are dry and I have time. I don't even usually cover them. I do keep them in my air conditioned work shop though. I am beyond thrilled😁
My mixture immediately turned rubbery and dried out. I added water and savaged it, but it was chunky and not very pliable. Has this happened to you? What am I doing wrong? (I am using the 1/3c Portland/thinset/school glue recipe ). Thanks!
Hello Wrenrobin, I am sorry you are having this difficulty. No I have not had the problem. be sure you are not using wood glue this will not mix and it will give you this problem. I wonder if your paper is too dry? or not fine enough. Here is another recipe with no paper a friend of mine uses. 1/3 portland 1/3 thinset 1/3 white school glue Where are you viewing from? Thank you fore viewing. I hope my response is useful. let me know 😊
Hi Venna, so me and my girlfriends are making these for the first time. I accidentally mixed up the Portland cement and filled the cones with it 🙄 I know it will take forever to set but do you think it will still be a strong base structure for the gnomes ? Thanks for your help
Hello Gretchen, OH I am sorry for your challenge. If you mixed portland cement with sand then yes it will eventually set and be fairly strong. If you mixed the portland cement with water only. No it will be set but crumbly. So if you did that dump it out and just start again with lessons learned. Like I told my grandson on Sunday. All creators have disasters and have to figure it out and learn. Thank you for viewing. 😊 Good luck on your projects😊 Find me on Instagram and message me and send me pictures of your projects 😊
@@gretchennielson2729 I have felt just like your emoti looks. Sometimes putting it in hot water can expand the mold. what could be happening is suction is keeping it from sliding out. Of your mold is from the dollar tree it might just be a loss and go buy a new one rather than spend a lot of time on it. I am happy to help. Where are you viewing from?

Hi Carol, I use the thinset because it has very fine agate in the mix. Thinset is a dry tile adhesive mix. So I assume you could use any dry tile adhesive you can find. Let me know how it works for you. 😁
Hello Rhonda, OH dear, I am sorry. I am not sure. If it's crumbly I wonder if there is either too much paper or not enough glue or too much portland or thinset. could be too much paper and not enough glue. If you can, try again. Hope it works for you.
Hello Rebecca. No portland cement must be mixed with an agate of some kind usually sand to have strength. Cemental is the fast setting that I am using to make the cones. I think I show a picture of it in the video. Thank you for viewing. Let me know if I can help further😁
Thank you for the info, I have been looking for a medium other than air dry and polymer clay and came across your videos. I love your work, especially the gnomes and the Santa. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can do half as well as you!
