This was a great alternative to sunflower seeds or any nuts! I did make it somewhat high fat by adding in half of an avocado and some olive oil, but the peas really added the consistency I wanted! Thank you!
I really liked this idea as well; I still used a handful of walnuts and added oven dried tomatoes I made myself. My greens were half basil half rosemary which I have on the windowsill so they packed a big flavour punch. I used the nutritional yeast and the rest of the recipe; added a bit of water but kept it also slightly chunky. More garlic. …. anyway one of those OMG this really worked recipes!!! I liked your idea about using avocado; will try it next time. Great post!
Natalie, I agree completely with the person who called you a genius! I just had your pesto over some zoodles for lunch and oh my gosh! Tasted so rich and calorie dense but it is so healthy and I am so grateful to you for creating this delicious recipe which I I'm definitely going to make again!
Yes!!!! Thank you so much! I finally found a good homemade oil free sauce/dressing recipe. You are a genius. I had to come back to tell you that this is amazing. I was honestly was not expecting it to be this good...cant believe it’s fat free. Currently licking my blender lol.
Licking every last bit out of the blender is the BEST sign haha! I am so thrilled you loved it and now have the perfect thing for all your pasta topping and dipping and salad dressing needs🤗🤗 Thanks for the feedback and enjoy!
+Kaylie S Thanks Kaylie! I really didn't think I would like this, but it surprised me. It's not overly basil-y which I think is why I like it. If you aren't a fan of basil though, you could use a different herb or even just spinach or something!
I love this, its so hard to find oil free and nut free replacements of my favourite foods.i love savory.it great with lentil pasta with broccoli florets, asparagus, red kidney beans, mushrooms and red onion.which i just ate and is packed with useful nutrition.
I really like your recipe idea; yes to the nutrional yeast and high fiber from peas. Pesto means mortar and pestle and so I am going to try it with walnuts; but I really like the idea of a smooth consistency that can also be used as a dip for veggies. Big thumbs up!! Will try it now. Tx!!!
+jana kup ☺ I order it online actually because I can't find it anywhere around me either. Well I can find the red star brand but that stuff doesn't taste half as good as the Bob's Red Mill stuff. Hope you can track some down though!
Feasting on Fruit thanks for replying! i just saw that the brand you were talking about sells their product for about 50 EURs and up on amazon! i guess i'll have to find a different brand ;) veganism isn't as popular where I'm from... yet!
+Abby Kuo If you use dried basil it won't have the same bulk of the fresh leaves. Maybe try using dried basil along with a handful of spinach leaves to make up for the leafy bulk.
+charly1234 I don't taste the peas in it, but if you really hate them then you might be more sensitive. You could try substituting cooked broccoli florets instead. It will be different, but still tasty :)
@@FeastingonFruit Well, first of all... I've been to two supermarkets and they have no such thing! 🤦 I think it's available as a supplement or something here. I found online Bragg 127 grams 8,85€ (10$), but then there is one 125 grams 4,30$ (but plus 6$ delivery) - okeish... if I can find it in stores that is... Average salary here is 1000-1500€... I think if we calculated also this difference (between US and Europe salary) + difference in prices, it would be quite a difference.
Are the peas supposed to be cooked? I mean, when they're sold frozen, are they frozen uncooked or cooked? Because if they're uncooked wouldn't they be hard? Sorry for the confusion :D
+supermanhatesme They are frozen already cooked. So if you are using fresh peas then definitely cook them first, crunchy uncooked peas would not be good :D
I have never found a pesto recipe that isnt extremely high in fat, I will need to try this one!
+Tami Torossian I know right, most of them are SO oily it's gross! My zoodles have been waiting for this :D
Best pesto ever! Everyone please try this recipe - I had it today with quinoa and mushrooms. SOOOOO GOOD! :D
Yay!! Aww thanks for that awesome review, so happy you loved it💚

I'm so glad you liked it! Those additions sound delicious and extra creamy--it's a versatile recipe. Thanks for the feedback Allyssa :)
Nooooo, get rid of olive oil

I've checked out different recipes and this is the best !!!
That is awesome to hear, Naomi💚 Thanks for the feedback!

I always struggle to make pesto creamy without tons of fat ... Luv the peas idea. Gonna try it as soon as I can buy some basil! Thnx for the vid.
+Sarah Van Peas are great, they have that legume creaminess. Kinda like hummus but different now that I think about it. I hope you try it!
Just made it. Delicious!!! thank you
Literally all of your recipes look amazing!! I'm not a huge pesto fan either but I may have to try this out!
+Kaylie S Thanks Kaylie! I really didn't think I would like this, but it surprised me. It's not overly basil-y which I think is why I like it. If you aren't a fan of basil though, you could use a different herb or even just spinach or something!
You had me at the pea's 😍
Yum!
Thanks for the recipe! Going to make this tomorrow!
+Busy Dots I love the peas too! Enjoy :)
Totally amazing! It's vibrating an incredible beautiful green! Well done x

+Plantbased Gudrun Haha :D
amazing!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Very creative!
This was excellent!!! Everybody loved it. We had it on gnocchi. Thank you💗
YAY!! That sounds delicious and perfect, so happy it was a success :)
what is I used edamame instead of peas. I think it would have a richer flavor
+Steph Payn Sure it's worth trying! I personally don't tolerate soy well so I don't use edamame, but I think it could work :)
love this! now i only need to find a store which sells nutritional yeast haha
xx

+jana kup ☺ Yikes! That's crazy! I'm sure there are other brands over there then that are cheaper.
Feasting on Fruit I think so too, I just have to find them :)
I’m the opposite. I’m very good at savoury recipes, but baking and sweet recipes, I totally suck at! 😂
Well we need to work together it sounds like haha!
Crikes! Looks amazing 😉 making this tonight!
Woohoo!! It's my fave with zucchini noodles💚 Hope you love it too!
Feasting on Fruit yes it was amazing. We’re on the Dr.Mcdougal diet and had it on potatoes! We got rid of our jowls/dbl chins in 2 months. 🙃
Oooh that sounds delish, I am so happy you loved it!! And congrats🤗
would it be different it i use dried basil?? i don't have fresh basil on hand and its hard for me to get
+Abby Kuo If you use dried basil it won't have the same bulk of the fresh leaves. Maybe try using dried basil along with a handful of spinach leaves to make up for the leafy bulk.
You really should have much more subscribers than this. Eventually you'll get there.
does it taste a lot like peas? I actually hate peas haha:(
+charly1234 I don't taste the peas in it, but if you really hate them then you might be more sensitive. You could try substituting cooked broccoli florets instead. It will be different, but still tasty :)
No nuts or oil? Oh, thank you!!!
Yes and so so yummy too! Hope you love it Melanie :)
Man, that nutritional yeast costs a lot here in Italy! 😨 How much do you guys in the United States pay for it??
Hmm it's not too pricey here, maybe like 8-9 dollars for an 8oz bag. How about you?

what's the problem with nuts?
L vs Allergies. Some people are allergic to nuts in pesto.
Sometimes it’s too high in fat, especially with all the oil with it in a regular recipe
disgusting....
