That's true when comparing Ballet to other Western forms of dance, but other classical styles, Bharata Natyam, Kathakali also change a dancer's body, mannerisms, the way one walks, even the way one drives; but it does so in ways different from ballet. I'm not saying a Ballet dancer couldn't be great at Bharata Natyam or vice versa, of course it's possible, but it would be difficult for a Ballet dancer to reprogram his/her body to do Bharata Natyam and the opposite is also true.
All forms of classical dance are difficult though, a classically trained ballet dancer would dance circles around dancers of most Western styles, but if they tried Bharata Natyam? They'd have to re-program themselves completely. You know what I mean? They might understand how to train their body, but it would be awkward to re-train their bodies.

I don't like for there to be percussion with the dance. I like to see that they're still in their dream . . . from conception. . . still floating. Men who cruise the air.
Hmm, some of them I'd actually call Queens of Dance, and I'm sure they wouldn't be offended. They are amazing though and I agree with jinpitakki33's comment. Ballet is the Dance of Dances; if you are good in it, you can do mostly everything else. Of course there's always exceptions somewhere, but ballet IS considered the mother of all dances. I really like David Hallberg. His line is amazing. I remember when he won this prestigious competition before joining ABT, and now he is such a big star.
Its the one form of dance I cant quite relate to. I do respect the diligent work and the dancers seem extra healthy and strong but break dancing and other urban dance styles catch me well before.
Marcelo's words are very worthy of respect and admiration!
Desmond Richards leg/feet line is to die for

Kings of Ballet, not Kings of Dance... no way!
Shouldn't it be kings of BALLET?
Female ballerinas are overrated!
