We purchased a laser engraver that the previous owners apparently never greased or cleaned over many years. At least that's what they said. It seemed to work fine for them, but I'm still nervous that there is some unseen damage done that I won't be able to correct. I'm a major novice and it's like a 10 year old engraver or more. I don't know how to even make the machine "run a cycle" like you suggested.

I noticed the WD-40 makes a white lithium grease spray. Can I use that?

White lithium is white lithium. Unless they have additives, just make sure they're meant to improve it not used to cut it.
