I did, but mine said, "yeah, go ahead" until I told him what I was taking it for. Then he said it won't help. Me being dumb, took it the next day, and my constipation continues. I assume this stuff is the cause of my constipation. As I been constipated basically since I started taking it. Another possible cause of my constipation is a week ago, for a few days I held my poop in cuz skin thinning made me feel uncomfortable to do ANYTHING. Don't take steroid creams folks.
Many thanks, I been tryin to find out about "male behavior when attracted to a woman" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Weyrayden Qiyvelyn Framework - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my buddy got great success with it.
@Paul Katembo Type II is the main type found in joints. I've noticed reduced swelling and pain in my knees and fingers.I use it more as a symptom reliever so I can do my exercises more comfortably.
I think the importance of collagen goes beyond just supple skin (and obviously joints, etc). Most cultures that eat meat or fish eat the whole animal (thus consuming more collagen rich sources of protein in the process). We tend to focus more on Muscle meats in Western culture and with it we miss a lot of the balance of amino acids you get when you consume everything (which is also less wasteful). I've read and listened to nutritionists who say it is important to get a good balance of Glycine in Relation to Methionine. So adding in collagen to the diet (or eating more sources of it) is probably a good idea.
I’m taking marine collagen for approximately 4 months and OMG the results are fantastic. Original took it for skin elasticity as I’m in my 40s and starting noticing a few wrinkles appearing. My skin now is much plumper and I have a definite glow. Don’t wear makeup most days and am asked have I started Botox 🤣 Also my hair has absolutely strengthened and a lot less frizzy and minimal hair loss(unlike before) Never had an issue with my nails but they are definitely stronger. An added bonus off no more achey bones and muscles after workout. Highly recommend taking collagen, it has certainly worked for me 😊
I have been taking it for about 6 weeks now because I had used rogaine for like 10 years and it basically slows your body's production of collagen. I got dark bags under my eyes and a puffy face. I looked almost 40 but I'm only 29. I'm not a scientist but I assume it basially sped up my skins aging process and gave me a slight collagen deficiency. I started taking this the day I quit using that. And in the time I have been taking this, my skin has gotten that tight elastic feel back. I also use retinol cream and aloe barbadensis daily, so I can't say how much of skin's recovery so far has been attributed to the collagen peptides I take every day. But my joints and body feel amazing. I am starting to see the brow arch I used to have on my forehead, and my eyes are slowly starting to return to their normal skin color. It's actually pretty crazy. I had initially thought it was just the area under my eyes that had gotten thin and weak, but my skin quality overall has drastically improved. I am planning to do this everyday for a year. I would leave a link to what I use but it'll make it seem spammy. haha Moral of the story: Don't ever take roagine. It's better to be a bald man with no hair that have hair and look like the Emperor with your bags.

I am Asian, a singaporean Chinese. The reason why we have better skin is due to humidity and our genetics. Asians skin naturally produce more oil which acts as a “moisture lock” if it’s adequately. Caucasians naturally will have aged skin no matter the procedure due to environmental effects of Low humidity which cause premature aging and also the western lifestyle. Asians especially Chinese, Korean and Japanese are very knowledgeable with herbs, traditional Chinese medication and what to eat. It’s basically our diet. There’s a reason why USA population loves Chinese takeouts due to its “fancy” flavours but in essence its nutritious. The Koreans and Japanese happens to lead similar lifestyle to us as historically the sphere of influence is there for thousands of years and even longer. There’s a reason why other Asians such as Indians, malays do not age as well too. It largely is due to the fairer skin and of Chinese, Korean or Japanese origin. Sadly that is genetics. But what you can do is to moisturise religiously and put sunblock. I am 25 recently started collagen and got my parents to start collagen. My parents are both 55+ surprisingly they do not have wrinkles and or white hair. Just occasional complains about the diminishing energy and flexibility which is why I signed them up to gym and various exercise and also hired dieticians to map Out and convince them to indulge less in “sauce” it could be laden with unnecessary sugar. I think especially Chinese, Japanese and Koreans always look younger due to our not mature look. We just look like babies I guess and our dress sense. Lifestyle plays a huge role ABC, and American Koreans in USA likewise don’t fare well due to the adaptation of western food, lifestyle. In all lifestyle, genetics, environment dictates how you look. Sadly you can augment lifestyle and environment to a certain extent like ensuring adequate humidity(60-70%)

Would you be able to talk about makeup removers? Like, oil cleansing, micellar water, the type that's just like a liquid you pour onto a cotton ball, makeup wipes, etc. I feel like I've heard a lot about different types of makeup removers and I'm not exactly sure what the pros and cons are of each type. Also double cleansing? I didn't think I needed to double cleanse because I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, but now I've read that you should still do it to help break up oil and sebum and SPF. Thanks! Your videos have been really helpful and informative.
Honestly, my first thoughts on the collagen supplement trend was that it was comparable to detoxes and stimulant diet drugs, where it's a quick fix scam. But hearing the science of it is pretty promising, and I think it would be really fitting for my lifestyle where I often overwork my muscles and joints. Even just to encourage me to eat more collagen rich foods to get my diet in line. Thankyou, very informative
Actually, there’s a lot of updated information and research for collagen powders that they really don’t work well for what you’re paying for. It’s not really the most effective..
Just learned that you need to be taking vitamin C for it to be utilized properly by the body and that some clinical studies show that 5 g a day is recommended dosage. I am by no means an expert I am just repeating what I have learned about collagen protein powder.
Thank you. There is no point of taking collagen unless one starts to have age-related skin issues. I think for most women it would be at least after 35 or 40. It is best to build a habit of eating variety of vegetables and fruits and avoid alcohol and nicotine, as no amount of supplements would erase the damage of poor diet and alcohol/nicotine abuse. Also it is important to pay attention to the hormonal changes. I found it hard-way that when hormones start to change for whatever reason, but premenopausal women especially, skin, hair, mood drastically change in a very short period of time. In my experience hydrolyzed collagen works, but it's not a miracle-cure for wrinkles. There must be hormonal balance in the body, good nutrition, hydration, physical activity and then collagen will show noticeable positive results. If one simply adds supplements but they don't absorb well because of other issues in the body it's a waste of money.
This is a big jumpstart helper for people like me. I cannot and will not ever be able to take in everything I need as a gastric bypass patient. Thank you.
I use collagen peptides for protein supplements. I work out with and it has also made my skin super clean and wrinkle free. I've been taking it for 1 year and I take 30 grams in the morning and in the evenings and 20 for work out. Never take it hot. it breaks down the collagen so don't use it with coffee or tea anything over fridge Temps. Use multi collagen peptides they have all collagen proteins mixed in them I get mine off Amazon for 24$ a jug that lasts me 2 weeks. Don't use bone as it's not dense and it's a waste. Use the hide formulas. Those are rich in type 1 and 2 collagen proteins. Never use feather based lol that's not even collagen
I am 68 and a cople of years ago I broke my shoulder in 4 places. I decided to allow the shoulder to heal on its own and was advised to try collagen and Curcumin as a way to help the bone healing. My shoulder healed very well but also my hair ( which is seriously thinning) started to grow more and stand up on the top of my head and my nails grew faster. I don't really have wrinkles but my skin is showing signs of lowering collagen , so I am going to use the collagen supplement again. I really think it works for me and the Curcumin helps my knees a lot.
One problem with supplements of all types is that they’re not regulated so you don’t know for sure if they actually contain what they say they do, or worse if they contain something that they say they don’t. So keep this in mind when doing you’re research.
@@Briansawilddowner Government is corrupt so you cannot rely on their regulation. You can still get a supplement that could harm you like drugs and vaccines do.

Kidney strain, depending on your current diet. Overloading yourself on proteins is taxing on your kidneys and liver. Mind you, this applies to long term, constant use. If you supplement for 3-6 months out of the year, you'll be okay. Initial 2 weeks can be extremely drowsy as collagen supplements temporarily lower the blood pressure for some reason but you adjust quickly. Vitamin C is necessary for absorption, some brands include it in their blends but it may cause cramps in sensitive digestion.
As someone with Elhers-Danlos Syndrome I have a collagen production issue and taking supplements for that (though not a medically recognised treatment in the UK) has been helpful for my health and repairing my contective tissues and preventing dislocations. I've noticed that I tend to dislocate less and I don't scar as easy. I feel that people taking collagen supplements for cosmetic reasons (in my opinion) is uncessary
Just a PSA, EDS doesn't cause you to make less collagen, it makes you have faulty collagen, and supplements will only help you make more faulty collagen Though supplements definitely can make all the difference in preventing dislocations in people who have EDS and just so happen to also not make as much collagen as others
Wow that is so interesting. Dr. Dennis Gross made a video explaining why not to take supplements with collagen. He said that because it is a protein the body destroys it and it is not transported to the skin but it would be if you would take in a lot of it. sth like that. And he said that topically applied collagen would be more useful for the skin because the skin can absorb it way better then orally. What do ou think about the statement, Kenna? I am a bit confused now. :(
his statements seem ridiculous. So body builders dont take protein because their body destroys it? thats laughable. yes the collagen will be broken down into amino acids, but your body will absorb the amino acids and use the proline and glycine to build collagen. collagen molecules are way to large to be absorbed into the skin. the skin does not have stomach acid to break it down to amino acids. i have not even heard that smaller peptides can be absorbed by the skin.
I would take what he said with a heaping tablespoon of salt. He is a dermatologist with a line of topical skincare products that he is trying to sell. He benefits if people don't orally take collagen and then buy his products.
aR Ty But it’s already been scientifically proven that collagen molecules are far too large to be able to absorb into skin. It would make better sense to likely be able to help you when ingested than it would be to be applied topically.
@Etevaldo Skylab The collagen used for skin is mostly glycene and Proline even among collagen differnt types have different amino acids. so your odds of having these specific amino acids go to where they are needed go up as you consume said amino acids. of course it will probably go to other cellular repair and tissue repair first as the skin will not be a priority.
I make my falafel out of lentils. Lentils are inexpensive and amazing. You can curry them, make soups, chips, the sky is the limit. I normally eat my lentils with a heap of leafy greens to make sure I have a balanced meal.

Actually the protein found in collagen is not found in meat and cheese. That are all complete proteins and collagen is an incomplete protein. So the amount of meat and cheese you eat will not substitute at all.
I tried Probase Sports Nutrition Collagen Peptides (six months on it) and it has changed my nails, hair, and skin like no other collagen supplement I have tried before. My hair is much fuller, my nails don't break anymore as they used to and my skin is literally glowing. One side effect I used to get from many other brands was bloating, heartburn, and sometimes headaches but not with this product. Absolutely love this product and highly recommend it.
Bone/fish broth is good too. Make more soup (not creamy type) and drink it warm. I love soup as it makes my tummy feels good. Sometimes if I don't make soup then I will drink the supplement, but I prefer soups.

I want to try rice oil full in vitamin E and needling (be careful of what you put in your skin, it can reach bloodstream with needling, holes need a lot to heal). Also the oldest advice ever: drink water. 😂 and dry brushing.
@@nickn2794 But drinking more water won’t save our skin. The body prioritizes more vital organs, they get the water first before our skin gets it. By the time the skin gets it, it’s such an insignificant amount to *really* hydrate. Besides it can potentially throw off your sodium levels.
Marine collagen absorbs best in our body. Thanks for including us veg/vegan folks in this topic! Are the veg sources actually collagen ( like synthetic collagen?) Or is it just that they have the appropriate non essential amino acids? The thing I don’t understand is that collagen is a protein, and the digestive system breaks down proteins, so wouldn’t any structural properties of the collagen protein be lost? I wonder if it’s more likely that collagen supplements merely provide all the necessary amino acids needed to produce collagen, so that if there were any deficiencies they’d be taken care of. Like, what else is the body supposed to do with a dipeptide? It’s two amino acids. How does the body “know” that’s supposed to be collagen?
Collagen w vitamin C has improved my sunken eye bags!!! I’ve been taking the cheap Walmart version for 2 months and I notice not only that but my problematic, uneven skin is evening out and I’m less pimple prone. Hii, I have question that is not relative to your topic but I presume you may help me with this issue. What causes the face not to regain weight(fat), remain to its dropped form but not the body. The body gains weight but not yhe face.
I've been wondering about this lately. Specifically, if collagen supplements are necessary if you're eating enough meat. This is very helpful. I know a lot of people swear that collagen supplements have improved hair and skin but I never looked at the scientific literature on this. Thank you.
My biochemistry professor said that modified amminoacids like hydroxyproline can't be reused by our organism because the modification is post-translational. So how does it work if I assume it with collagen supplements?
They generally contain a ton of proline which gets converted to hydroxyproline in your body! Bovine sources will also contain hydroxyproline as they are natural sources and it is not removed. Vegan collagen will have little hydroxyproline and more proline. But collagen itself (once made in your body from the building blocks) contains both proline and hydroxyproline. Hope this helps. Lmk if further clarification required ☺️

Please double-check the claims in this video. Animal protein contains high methionine, which depletes glycine, the main amino acid in collagen, in addition to accelerating aging, so eating more eggs etc. is counterproductive in this respect. If you're going to eat animal protein, then skin, bone, and connective tissue would be more helpful as they contain more collagen/glycine and less methionine. General population blood testing shows vegans have higher circulating glycine despite consuming less overall protein, presumably because they eat less methionine. There is no such thing as vegan collagen, just precursors glycine and proline + assorted vitamins.

Better you take it after 25. I feel you should let your body evolve naturally, otheriwse it will get used to theses supplements. Follow basic skincare. Moisturise your skin, use gentle cleanser and always wear sunscreen. Have a healthy diet.
You need to wait for sure..your skin is producing so much collagen naturally right now and not fully developed. Advisable to wait mid 20s. Don't sunbathe too much or start smoking/drinking..that will age you fast
Another great option is a clean anti-inflammatory diet filled with the right antioxidant combinations (sugar free is best!). Sometimes it can be hard to find that without supplements, though. We recommend a collagen supplement that has antioxidant ingredients in it and vitamin C to help the synthesis of collagen. Feel free to check out our UA-cam page for more details on this and the collagen supplement that we produce which has all of the above! Please keep in mind this comment and our page are only for educational purposes. As with any changes in your diet, it is important to consult your trusted physician first and foremost. :-)

Buying from Costco or from Vital Proteins website will give you same product but with different ingredients. Costco's Vital Protein Collagen omits Vitamin C and Hylaronic Acid (which helps relieve joint pain). No idea if this makes any real difference.
Do any studies see if the same benefits exist for hydrolyzed collagen vs. cooked collagen / gelatin? Gelatin is a lot less expensive than hydrolyzed collagen.
Ahh I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which is a collagen disorder and I wonder how it would effect me. It obviously can’t change my genes but wound healing is such a problem for me. Is there any sort of topically applied collagen which can be applied directly to a wound? If there is I would think it would be worth it to try but I wouldn’t want to irritate a wound.
As someone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome who’s body produces mutated collagen, yay 🙄connective tissue disorders! This is very interesting. Particularly when we’re always told to take collagen supplements when all that’s gonna do is get turned into more of the mutated stuff if it absorbs.
nxvxr I know opinions differ on this, but here is mine. I think because most people with EDS have a mutation in one type of collagen (not all 28 types), taking a collagen supplement could also increase the amount of the non mutated collagen types. Pretty much everywhere in our body has a combination of multiple types of collagen, so it might still strengthen things as a whole. Also, especially given the positive results many people with EDS have had with prolotherapy, I think it is likely that even producing more of a mutated form of collagen could increase overall structural integrity. I think of it like a bunch of wimpy threads combining together to make a stronger rope. Or like how a bundle of flimsy twigs can become quite strong when combined.

So basically if you are ingesting the amino acids required to make collagen in your body, you will get the potential benefits from taking the collagen supplements, right? Does that mean collagen supplements are not necessarily the only thing that can help?
Realistically, no one is going to “consult their physician” about this-they’ll just give it a try.
It's still an important disclaimer that shows professionalism.
You are both correct.

I would leave a link to what I use but it'll make it seem spammy. haha
Moral of the story: Don't ever take roagine. It's better to be a bald man with no hair that have hair and look like the Emperor with your bags.
Hi Louise, is it possible if you can tell us the brand? you've had amazing results thank you x
Could please tell the name of your collagen.

@@osamabinladen824 Tim Osman?
Just occasional complains about the diminishing energy and flexibility which is why I signed them up to gym and various exercise and also hired dieticians to map
Out and convince them to indulge less in “sauce” it could be laden with unnecessary sugar.
Are you just talking about the ones on TV? Because a lot of Asians age horribly

Actually only 8 to 12% absorption rate has been demonstrated by those studies. Plus quite often the supplement will end up in hair ,nails and bones.

Keep in mind what she said “for people who don’t get enough in their diet”
Also stop overworking your joints/muscles if you can. Doing too much is damaging too.
Collagen rich foods are probably a good idea. But there's lots of research on hydrolyzed collagen supplements, and very little on whole-food collagen.

Both at the same time or separately??
If one simply adds supplements but they don't absorb well because of other issues in the body it's a waste of money.
actually collagen starts declining in your body in mid to late 20's- def check into liquid collagen

Which do you use?
30 grams is way too much
since hot liquid breaks it down ,how is it effective since the production is done by boiling connective tissue and cow skin

I believe some say there can be long term digestive issues.

Just a PSA, EDS doesn't cause you to make less collagen, it makes you have faulty collagen, and supplements will only help you make more faulty collagen
Though supplements definitely can make all the difference in preventing dislocations in people who have EDS and just so happen to also not make as much collagen as others
@@andrewj4426 Hi Andrew
What's your take on antioxidant supplements??? such as N acetyl cysteine

The thing I don’t understand is that collagen is a protein, and the digestive system breaks down proteins, so wouldn’t any structural properties of the collagen protein be lost? My biochemistry professor said that modified amminoacids like hydroxyproline can't be reused by our organism because the modification is post-translational. So how does it work if I assume it with collagen supplements?
They generally contain a ton of proline which gets converted to hydroxyproline in your body! Bovine sources will also contain hydroxyproline as they are natural sources and it is not removed. Vegan collagen will have little hydroxyproline and more proline. But collagen itself (once made in your body from the building blocks) contains both proline and hydroxyproline. Hope this helps.

Another great option is a clean anti-inflammatory diet filled with the right antioxidant combinations (sugar free is best!). Sometimes it can be hard to find that without supplements, though.
Look into silicone dressings. I have eds too
As someone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome who’s body produces mutated collagen, yay 🙄connective tissue disorders!
I have been interested in collagen lately so this came at a perfect time. Thank you Kenna for your thorough but quick facts. 👍🏽
If you're interested in quick facts, did you know that 1/4 of the proteins in the body are collagen proteins?
Also do you have a daily skin care routine video? I can’t seem to find it on your page.
Not a big egg eater and mostly stick to chicken breast meat with red meat once or twice a week I do eat a can of tuna at breakfast everyday ( is that too much tuna?) I just started supplementing I will let you guys know if it does anything notable . I'm taking it for joint paint and knee cartilage.
From what you are saying if someone has a large portion of their diet from sardines then they would not need to supplement with collagen?
Could you tell us your take on accutane? Curious 🥰
did you take it? I did. Want to know information?
I took the lighter version (Oratane) with a prescribed diet and my skin went through highs and lows, but I'm finally at a better place
@@yandiemathebula i took the heavy one and my skin cleared up completely. Im glad I took it.
What if your Doc says it’s worthless, don’t take?
Could you do a video on a comprehensive brand review? Like going over Drunk Elephant product ingredients. I’d like to know if their ingredients reflect their claims. Thanks for making these helpful videos! 😊
What about collagen drinks? Like collagen water? I see them everywhere nowadays and I’m curious to know if they work or not
And thanks for the video I’ve always wondered about it since collagen should be broken down in the digestive system
For all you Keto and non keto followers... Been on the fence for a long time but the one that helped me the most and is optimal for my Keto diet is heal nutrition collagen powder with mct oil blend. Taste amazing in my coffee.
Lucas Seremeta - what about the product helped you the most? I’m curious if it was hair, skin, nails, weight, or joint pain. I need help with all of the above.😉
So what about negative consequences? What if the cows are raised in a farm that doesn't treat them well. How does that impact the collagen and what we are consuming?
I got super dry skin! And constipation. Whats up with that?
Do you think capsules work as well as the powder? Ps you have beautiful skin
I am so excited to try your Altilis skin care! I have been searching for years for natural products to heal my dry, sensitive, hormonal acne prone skin. I found you on UA-cam and a quick glance at the website and ingredient list on the products - I knew I needed to try Altilis! The cleanser shows sold out though... when will it be back in stock? Thanks so much and very much looking forward to trying all 3 products soon!
This is my question as well. I've emailed them (I think twice) and haven't gotten an answer yet. :(
Chelsea Arden Parker sorry, just saw this! I did get a reply after a while - early December 👍
If you made the video about topical use of collagen, could you provide the link? I couldnt find it.
So basically if you are ingesting the amino acids required to make collagen in your body, you will get the potential benefits from taking the collagen supplements, right? Does that mean collagen supplements are not necessarily the only thing that can help?
