- This tutorial focusses on a cold and dark start for the newly released C172 NG Digital from Airfoil Labs. It shows you how to correctly prime the engine, defrost the windows and connect auxiliary power.
Thank you so much! I was so sad that I could never start this plane. But this little trick with the 2D engine panel prevents me to lose even more hair. :) Thank you once again! :)
The heater does work. Go into the walk around mode and walk up to the heater. there is a toutchpad cotroll on the top. On off and a temp setting. Set the Temp to like 100°F and turn it on. Open the engine info page and observe your oil temp slowly rising over time. You can also set the heater fan to high for a faster warm up
Excellent! Thanks so much!
When you say walk around mode. What do you mean? External view? don't seem to be able to zoom close enough to see the controls on the heater.
@@bobblack4604 Look in the controll options. There should be buttons that you can map to "Wallk" around outside the airplane. To enter that mode, I beleve, you need to open the pilot side door and click on the step unter the door
@@GamerTubeHD I did find a youtube video on walk around but the down arrow with the door open doesn't seem to work for me and if I move to an outside view the keys I mapped for walking also don't work so if I get it working, looks like I will need to do another video to help people like me- lol
@@GamerTubeHD I figured out what the problem was. The walk around doesn't work if X-Camara is enabled. When you disable X-Camera the walk around works.
Hey very useful your video. I had the same issue trying to start up the engine 🤣
Glad it was a help. Some one said there are controls on top of the external engine heater for turning it on and setting the temperature, but I have not been able to zoom in enough to see them. You would think it would be a pop up.
@@bobblack4604 i read that too. I have to try it! I haven’t flown in those temperatures lol. Thank i again captain
Thank you for the tutorial!
Very informative video, keep it up :D
Thanks Bob for this tuto.I still couldn't get it to start properly
It is a beast tp start. It should start if it is primed correctly. You have to hold the start for quite awhile with propellers turning in order for it to catch. You need to push the mixture control in as soon as it catches.
That's pretty close. In the real airplane the start procedure is SBY BAT switch test then on; check no red X's in engine instruments; Throttle open 1/4 in; Mixture cutoff; fuel pump on; mixture rich until fuel flow shows, then count to 6; Mixture cutoff; fuel pump off; Ignition Switch Start; when engine starts to catch and run - Mixture rich. We don't use the fuel pump for start.
