This i think is the next best content I really want to see from retro creators like you. Thanks to recommendations from creators like you, I got a retro system. Now I'm on the next step of what do I put on it, and this is SUPER helpful
You should make more videos about your favorite games and talk about it. Its quite interesting and fun to watch! Maybe your favorite SNES or PS1 games next?
These are a great selection and I had only heard of one of them before. I'm definitely going to try some of these out on my miyoo mini. GBA emulation is what got me back into gaming in my teenage years, and it was early youtube recommendation like this that helped me discover a ton of great games on the platform I would never have known about otherwise. I highly recommend the Summon Night Swordcraft Story games, as well as Shining Soul II. And don't sleep on the Hamtaro series - the gba games are so much fun!
in the first part of the battle the frostinator only spawns 2 snowtreaders when all the walkthroughs I read tell me that it spawns 3 snowtreaders... and so since no matter how long I hang around in the spot the 3rd snowtreader just doesn't pop up at all. Can anybody help?
This is great! Thank you! I bought a Powkiddy RGB10S A while back just to use specifically as an upscale GBA. I'm definitely going to try out this Juka game.
I wound up with an extra lg phone with a 5g snapdragon in it, got a razer kishi and it emulates handhelds like a beast. Got gb, gbc, GBA, game gear, NG pocket color etc..
1. Great list! 2. Agreed. The Game Boy Advance (GBA) remains one of the GOAT handheld systems ever engineered and produced (original and clamshell release). 3. Genuinely hoping that the GBA library is made more accessible and available for everyone to enjoy. 4. I also recommend the following GBA titles: "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" (2002), and "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (2003) developed by Griptonite. 5. The aforementioned LoTR titles are decent "Diablo Clones" for the GBA! Only downside, not enough save slots for characters :( 6. Sorry for the wall of text; this video feels like an endorsement for the Powkiddy X55, haha! (Now I'm tempted to get one myself lol)
Hey, someone else knows about these! Had no idea they were Diablo clones (I guess I need to play Diablo), but Return of the King was the only game I had for my Dad's GBA, and was super fun! I got a Miyoo Mini + and am gonna try and play through them both fully. I tried out the Fellowship game for the GBA as well, but it was a whole lot different than the other two; was it made by a different studio or something?
WoW! I'm a huge GBA fan and I rarely if ever see someone bring up a worthwhile "hidden" gem that I've not heard about....much less actually wanted to Play. now looking for Juka and the Monophonic Menace to play. You Sir have gotten a new Subscriber.
Thank you so much for mentioning TMNT! It's one of my favorite games and it deserves more attention. I haven't heard about the other 4 (eventhough I though I know most of the good GBA games) I'm glad to be proven wrong though, since that means more GBA game to play!
To me. the best hidden gem is Ninja Cop or "Ninja Five-O" in North America. I feel like I'm a GBA savant when it comes to hidden gems and over all great games on the system people don't know about, but there were games in this video even I had never played. So thanks for introducing them to me.
This is great. Been looking for new stuff to put on my miyoo mini but I didn't play many GBA games when I was younger aside from the well known ones. I also needed something to offset the plethora of RPGs on there. The "random game" button is great, but those aren't the kind of games you just bounce between. Love hidden gems videos, keep 'em coming!
Thanks! I missed out on gbc, gba, vb, n64, gamecube, and wii... and it's great seeing the highlights from that period. Also didn't get to use a sega much, or pce, or go to arcades very often. I mostly played nes, snes, psx, and ds. So now I'm discovering all the great stuff I never got to play.
Congrats on unlocking 30K with this fine entry. Definately going to check out that House of the Dead pinball game, played the hell out of HotD on my Sega DreamCast back in the day. Favorite TMNT Casey Jones, I was him for Hallowwen two years ago, a friend of mine 3D printed me his mask and I filled a kid''s golf bag with sporting equipment/weapons. Hardly anyone knew who I was. Keep up the fine content TD.
You should do a personal favorites list of GBA games I respect your opinion on retro gaming (especially GBA) a lot and I would like to see your preferences when it comes to gaming.
Wow man I love this kind of video, the GBA is also a very important system for me, back in 2004 when the visual boy advance released and my parents bought a PC for our home is when I finally got into emulation, and since we didn't had a pretty good pc the GBA was one of the few systems we could play to it's full potential and I remember playing all those good games and the game library never ended, that video gave me nostalgia and a reason to go back playing specially that Juka game, reminded me a lot of KH Chains of Memory which was one of my favorite GBA games. Also I am that tyoe of person that played the 12 yugioh games and enjoyed it🤣🤣🤣
My fav is Leonardo. The leader. So much pressure to carry on the legacy of Splinter. Haunted by every mistake... My fav is Mikey. The youngest. Always trying, and failing, to live up the the awesomesauce of his bros. My fav is Donny. The smartest, but who cares? Everyone is tougher. Less awkward. My fav is Raph. The biggest, the strongest, but also the most angry. He's trying to carry the heavy burden, as the big man does, but of all the turtles he's least equipped to do so on an emotional level.
You're like my grandma when I asked her which grandkid is her favourite. "You're all my favourite", she said, but I could tell she was lying through her teeth!
So I would absolutely watch a one hour video of this, I'd watch a five hour video about this. Granted I couldn't begin to imagine how much work that'd be. 😄👍
I remember buying my Silver GBA SP with my first Student Loan payment. Absolutely loved it. Picked it up with Treasure's Astroboy and the 2 Breath Of Fire remakes. Fell in love straight away. My pick for a hidden gem list would be the excellent Shmup/RPG combo Sigma Star Saga. From the graphics to the gameplay it had it all 👍🏻
Holy crap. Juka looks like a full on modern indie game. I think I'll definitely try Sea Trader, Invader and Juka. I've tried going through emulation libraries starting from A to see which games are good, but so many are bad that I usually just end up giving up on looking for those hidden gems.
I used to play a sci-fi trading game called Escape Velocity. To this day I don’t think any game will surpass the hours I put into the third game… and it was PERFECT for portable gaming, because every time you landed at a port the game would auto save. If Sea Trader has a similar gameplay loop (in the pirates and sea navigators setting), it has the potential to be an incredibly addicting casual game.
Fantastic TD, Big fan of hidden gems videos... Especially hidden gems done right. I like many others in chat have never heard of most of these(Not an easy feat). Freaking awesome job, bring on more of this type of content. Edumacate us TD, Cowabunga.
I can't believe I only just found this video! There's almost nothing about Juka online. I've enjoyed it for years. I haven't beaten it but I will one of these days. It's a unique game, at least as far as I know, and it's super charming. These small releases of quality games are so interesting. Sometimes they become Shantae. Sometimes they're overlooked for one reason or another like this was. Also, TMNT is one of the better TMNT games period and I've always thought Sea Trader was fascinating but I just don't like trading sims. Maybe I'll give it a shot tho I would also suggest a few candidates. Mostly Scurge: Hive and Monster House. The former is like an isometric alternate universe Metroid with more action and the latter is kind of like Zelda meets Luigi's Mansion. They're both pretty good. And if you like first person dungeon crawlers, check out Mazes Of Fate. I also really like Rampage: Puzzle Attack, Wade Hixton's Counter Punch is a good Punch Out!! clone, Payback is a fully 3D GTA clone... And, seriously, Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Heartbreak. I don't even know how to describe that one. It's like an adventure game... You'll see. Anyway, if those aren't already on your radar you might find them interesting. The GBA is my favorite console ever. I never stopped playing it. I've played a couple hundred GBA games and even today I sometimes discover something new so you should be in for some interesting times. There are so many great games and a lot of them are lesser known
I love hidden gems! Tmnt was a surprise for me when i first played it. Apparently, it was made by the person / people (?) responsible for scott pilgrim and later the new tmnt: shredder’s revenge game!
I def. think emulation on GBA is the best. I mean emulation is cool for other consoles but GBA is the most mindblowing to me. I had an Advance SP as a kid and while that was fun its no comparison to emulation. It was just impossible to see the developer's full intent at the time with the screens we had back then. There were a few upgrades in screens before GBA phased out but it truly felt like GBA was ahead of its time for a handheld. The original games with an IPS screen is soo good.
Just wanted to drop a comment to show some love for your work, Dweeb! I really enjoy your videos. People like you are doing a great job preserving video games, and it's super important-we definitely don't want to forget all those amazing games! P.S.: The GBA is one of my all-time favorite platforms to emulate too. It has so many incredible exclusives. I still think the GBA version of Aladdin is better than any of the full home platform ports.
First time in 18 years that I see someone mention Juka and the monophonic menace, great game. And the "Avatar The last Airbender" games are pretty cool, a mix between Zelda and Mario y Luigi Super Star Saga
Thanks. Agree on GBA - I got lost in Advance Wars back then. The strategic complexity towards the end was awesome. I got tired of not having a backlight. Today I am considering buying a small retro portable, just to always have an Advance Wars game running. Miyoo Mini perhaps.
Oh wow! Nobody else seems to be reacting to Sea Trader: Rise of Taipan, but it strongly reminds me of a classic 90’s series called Escape Velocity. Look… adults are plenty addicted to the stock market and gambling in real life, but this game looks like it adds elements of progression and play style customization in the form of ship and crew upgrades, plus the pirate battles and random encounters sound interesting too! Escape Velocity was a sci-fi space trading game, which also featured main mission stories and short story side missions. Hopefully Sea Trader has story elements too! Escape Velocity was also the perfect mobile game… it didn’t require a mouse, and you could play for two minutes or two hours with auto saves every time you docked at a port. I had never considered the sea/pirate angle before, but it looks really interesting, thanks I must check this out!
I don’t think I haven’t played a TMNT game that I didn’t like. My favourite would be Turtles in time. Currently playing shredders revenge. I can’t wait to see the new TMNT Last ronin game. The Last Ronin TMNT arc is definitely dark and such a tear jerker storyline. Especially for those who have grown up to the cheerful 80s TMNT 😢. Btw favourite turtle would be a toss up between Michelangelo and Raphael, but favourite TMNT character would be Casey Jones.
I have some of those games. FUN-FACT : The GBA is also my favorite console and i really like the 3D games that where made for it (yes, i sayd 3D 😉). P.S. My favorite way to play GBA games is by using a Nintendo DS Lite + fisical and "digital" versions of the games.
I would totally watch you chat about pinball, both real and virtual. (I'm *still* bitter that Bally/Williams pulled the license from the folks at Pinball Arcade... Their digital reproductions were damn good.)
Dweeb, after your recommendation I grabbed Sea Traders and I've been playing literally all day. It's so addictive! I've been looking for a game like this for years. When I was a kid I used to play a Pop Cap series called Trade Winds that was similar and this scratches that itch REALLY well. New favorite game! Thanks dude! I'll stop after just. one. more. trade.
I have stayed up a good hour past my bedtime for several nights in a row with this game. Have you unlocked some new areas? I'm on my 4th area. The game keeps getting bigger!
Another great video man! By the way congratulations on 30k subs. I remember finding your channel when you had about 3k subs. Your channel has grown so much in the last year too! My guess is by the end of 2024 you'll probably be very close to 100K subs. Then you'll finally be able to move out of your mom's basement and buy your own delicious aspartamey diet root beer. Maybe you'll even make a music video(definitely Latin pop or reggaeton), or launch your "Tech Dweeb" merch store including cooking supplies for those peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
This is great. I've often been watching your videos and thought, oh what game is that, it looks sick. I bought a v90 a while back on your recommendation and I love it! So anything I can play on that is a winner for me!
Keep this up and we're going to have to start calling you DweebJesus. Great video, btw. Been playing through a lot of the original Fire Emblem games on OpenEMU lately and just "acquired" the TMNT and Juka games thanks to your sage advice.
Speaking of which, have you messed around with openemu? Been trying to figure out how to add additional shaders, but I’m a bit stymied. Also had some trouble trying to get RetroArch to function in my MacBook for some reason.
The TMNT devs went on to make the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World game. And they also helped out with the Fight Fighters and Soos & the Real Girl episodes of Gravity Falls. All of them utilised that distinct pixel art style.
Recently stumbled upon the game Lady Sia, highly recommend. Typical action-platformer, but the art style is awesome - kind of like Alien Hominid in fantasy land, reminds me strongly of old Western cartoons.
The GBA is my favourite system to play on my PSP. Currently playing Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on it and for an RPG newbie it's a great time. Pinball of the Dead looks like a fun time in short bursts. You should make a video about the PSP because it is still a great device to play retro games. It's cheap, it has almost no weight (the slim versions), can play 8-16bit games easily, PS1 is fun on it and (ofcourse) PSP games are perfect for it. The Yugioh Tag Force games is my favourite game series on it! ❤
i never had a gba as a child, i only had the gb pocket and nothing after that. my first serious experience with the gba catalog was on a hcked psp and i fell in love with nintendo handhelds again. even if it was on a different hardware. since then i owned a gba sp and a gb micro. the micro is so incredible, i love that thing. but it got so expensive that i sold mine for a huge profit. i had a new 3ds and sold it. bought a new 3ds xl and sold it. and last year i bought another new 3ds and i will not repeat my mistakes. so i will keep it and play gba with a great screen, perfect controls and the best form factor for a handheld: clamshell.
I’ve never seen that turtles game it looks awesome, definitely what I’m playing tonight. I been playing a ton of fatal labyrinth for the genesis, I totally remember the case from childhood, but had no idea there was a rogue game for sega gens.
@@TechDweebI used to sit on the after battle dialogue screen after kicking Eremon's butt, just so I could listen to the song. That game needs a HD remaster.
I loved the GBA because a lot of my favorite retro RPGs was ported to the GBA with better pixel art. I never looked at the GBA as retro as I was 22 when it came out guess it is now. Sigh im getting old. Sea Trader reminds me of Drug Wars on DOS lol. Gotta play it Drug Wars was super addictive. That pinball game looks awesome. Loved Devil Crush but I've been coming across a lot of trash pinball games lately. Need a new TMNT game been playing the original Arcarde, and Shredder's Revenge cant get enough Turtle Power. "Donatello does machiiiine's, thats a FACT Jack!" My favorite Turtle was Mikey. "Michaelangelo is a party dude. PARTY!!!" I love a hidden SMUP but the the Horizontal SMUP's always give me a difficult time, they need to be vertical. I love how the Switch allows the tablet to turn vertical to play classic arcade SMUP's. Wow Juka will be the first game a play on this list. I love how you have a game from all my favorite genres. Thanks for a true hidden gem list bro!
Yes I discovered pinball of the dead on one of the handhelds and it's possibly my favorite one. The SNES has super pinball 2. I select spy eyes . The music is cool too. On the gb revenge of the gator. The nes has rollerball and I think it's called pinball quest. A lot of people think the nes is junk but there are really fun games on it. Isn't that what it's all about?
Holy crap on a crutch wall climbing out of the toilet, Taipan! I had no idea there was a GBA game, but spent a good chunk of my computer lab time playing the OG Taipan on an apple iie with the big floppy cards and greeness. I need that game. Is opium still the money commodities?
I used to love Leonardo because he was a brave leader, but as an adult the rebellious brooding Raphael more appeals to me. Have you played Judgement Silversword? If you are a fan of portable shmups it is really worth a look.
Please do more of these! It's easy to find "top 100" lists and the best of the best, but so many good titles get lost in the fray
This is a legit Hidden Gems list because I've never heard of most of these games (except TMNT, which I love) being talked about for appreciated.
I have, but only because I got the full rom set for Emulation lol
This i think is the next best content I really want to see from retro creators like you. Thanks to recommendations from creators like you, I got a retro system. Now I'm on the next step of what do I put on it, and this is SUPER helpful

All of what you showed i have never seen in all of the retro reviews I've seen on yt. And all of them looks good. Truly showed hidden gems.
Dude, you gotta blow your nose
It's the dweeb voice, tracks perfectly with the theme lmfao
This is so funny.
A few good pinball games: Rollerball - NES, Alien Crush/Devil's Crush - PC engine/TG16, Revenge of the Gator/Kirby's Pinball land - GB
I know it's a little more advanced console, but don't forget Metroid Pinball for the DS!
Golden sun. First played it on a long plane flight. The whole rest of my trip was jumping back in every night
Wow, Juka and Invader look amazing! I’m definitely picking them up
You'll like Juka. It's very cute. You'll hate Invader (in a good way, because it's hard).
Second. I never heard of this.

GBA was an enhanced portable SNES and had 2 of my favorite upgraded beat-em-ups: Double Dragon Advance and Final Fight One.
Apparently, the GBA was a 32bit system and MORE powerful than the SNES in some respects.
Pinball of the Dead is one of my all time favorite GBA games. It's similar to Devil's Crush or Alien Crush pinball.
Devils tilt for Switch and Pc is incredible. Sequel basically to devil crush.

You should do a personal favorites list of GBA games I respect your opinion on retro gaming (especially GBA) a lot and I would like to see your preferences when it comes to gaming.
My current fav on the GBA is Defender of the Crown. I like the strategy games, so I'll check out Sea Trader.
Yes that's a great one! That's on my list of games to play more of and probably feature in a future vid :)

Didn't know about Escape Velocity, thanks for putting that on my radar!
The original NES TMNT was pretty crap, tbh.
Casey is a legend!
The GBA is my favorite system. Hard stop. Love it.
We need more of this!!!
gba is also one of my favorites to emulate. also I'm 100% gonna watch EVERY one of the episodes in the series. the day they come out.
I like the way you roll 😏
I am going to go look up the 4 I did not know about previously.
My favourite GBA games are the 3 *CT Special Forces* that are also on PS1.
Nice, a hidden gems list where the games are actual hidden gems.
Great video, hopefully you can make more.
Techdweeb dropping another banger video. Thank you bro you are uncanny.
Thank YOU for saying so!
you made a great point at the end, thats why I still rate gba sprites so highly, and that being what I grew up w
I would totally watch you chat about pinball, both real and virtual. (I'm *still* bitter that Bally/Williams pulled the license from the folks at Pinball Arcade... Their digital reproductions were damn good.)
Alien hominid
The art is awesome.
Damn, didn't know they had it on GBA thanks
I REALLY loved alien hominid on the gba, literally my first "completed" game ever
It’s on every system so it doesn’t count as a GBA hidden gem.
Oh my god, I just played it on my delta app and it’s fucking awesome
Hey dude, thanks for the games!
You actually were able to make me descover 2 games here! Nice
Pinball of the dead is actually pretty good. Favorite ninja turtle was Ralph growing up, such a brute.
Yeah, I filled out the map! It's not small. In the first area there's a hint about what the last region is. @@TechDweeb
Thanks so much! And thanks for sticking with me! Merch is DEFINITELY going to happen at some point ;)
This is great. I've often been watching your videos and thought, oh what game is that, it looks sick. I bought a v90 a while back on your recommendation and I love it! So anything I can play on that is a winner for me!
So many great GBA games that play great on the V90. You've got like 30 years of video game history in that device!
I am late coming to this video, but thank you! You went right up my alley with the games highlighted here, several of which I had never heard of!
I love this idea! Keep up the good work!
The TMNT devs went on to make the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World game. And they also helped out with the Fight Fighters and Soos & the Real Girl episodes of Gravity Falls. All of them utilised that distinct pixel art style.
Oh really? That makes sense! Thanks for the trivia
I didn’t know Craig from South Park had a YT channel, awesome!
Yup. I grew up and became a tech UA-camr. I'm still wearing my blue hat with the yellow pompom.
Gasp! The video I’ve been waiting for
Hot dayum, thanks for the information bruh. Had a little wiki check surprisingly they released games for the GBA up until 08.
Recently stumbled upon the game Lady Sia, highly recommend. Typical action-platformer, but the art style is awesome - kind of like Alien Hominid in fantasy land, reminds me strongly of old Western cartoons.
I know it well and love it!
❤
I would love to get my hands on a PSP sometime soon!
My Childhood game right there! Funny because I'm still learning Secrets about this game. 😂
I recently discovered your channel and love your content. Drink a root beer and give Hermoine a candy.
You spoil me! Thanks so much my dude. Although I can't promise I won't eat Hermione's candy on the way back from the store :/
Naruto ninja council is a masterpiece. Spiderman mysterio's menace is another great one.
Great video!
Can't wait for part 2!
Never heard of juka. Gorgeous looking game.
My favorite Turtle: Raphael
Another game only a few people talk about: Mega Man Battle Network 2
You're the best, Tech Dweeb!
Thanks for the recs!!
I'd definitely like to see a video about video pinball games. Love these types of videos.
This is so great. Hoping you will make more of this type of video. Cheers and thanks for sharing.
I definitely will!
i never had a gba as a child, i only had the gb pocket and nothing after that. my first serious experience with the gba catalog was on a hcked psp and i fell in love with nintendo handhelds again. even if it was on a different hardware. since then i owned a gba sp and a gb micro. the micro is so incredible, i love that thing. but it got so expensive that i sold mine for a huge profit. i had a new 3ds and sold it. bought a new 3ds xl and sold it. and last year i bought another new 3ds and i will not repeat my mistakes. so i will keep it and play gba with a great screen, perfect controls and the best form factor for a handheld: clamshell.
Yo! SUP DWEEEEB? Now that's content more to my liking! I need more of these please, one for each system at LEAST.
The fire pro wrestling games would be my recommendation. They're the most pickup and play ones in the series IMHO.
I'll check it out!
I’ve never seen that turtles game it looks awesome, definitely what I’m playing tonight. I been playing a ton of fatal labyrinth for the genesis, I totally remember the case from childhood, but had no idea there was a rogue game for sega gens.
I look forward to every video. Keep up the good work buddy
Thanks for saying so!
Hello Techdweeb, thx a lot for this video. Exactly what I was looking for ! Can't wait to watch your next hidden gems video 🎉
Can't wait for you to make a DS hidden gems video so I can rant about how criminally underrated Infinite Space was.
I LOVE INFINITE SPACE! I played the heck out of that game!
@@TechDweebI used to sit on the after battle dialogue screen after kicking Eremon's butt, just so I could listen to the song. That game needs a HD remaster.
Ninja Five-O, honestly one of the best games I've ever played
Sea trader, reminds me a bit like Port of call on the Amiga👌
I just modded an old Wii and added a bunch of GBA games. There are so many games that I missed.
PARTY!!!"
I love a hidden SMUP but the the Horizontal SMUP's always give me a difficult time, they need to be vertical. I love how the Switch allows the tablet to turn vertical to play classic arcade SMUP's.
Wow Juka will be the first game a play on this list. I love how you have a game from all my favorite genres.
Thanks for a true hidden gem list bro!
I'm with ya on the horizontal vs vertical SHMUPS
I too, love the pinball. You definitely should make a pinball video, I'd watch it 5 or 6 times at least.
Thx a lot Dweeb I'm about to cop a retro device and i love 2D platform games! Juka looks dope 👍🏽 by the way is it the X55 you're using in this video?
Me answering my own comment :"yes it is"
Thx man 👍🏽
Yes I discovered pinball of the dead on one of the handhelds and it's possibly my favorite one. The SNES has super pinball 2. I select spy eyes . The music is cool too. On the gb revenge of the gator. The nes has rollerball and I think it's called pinball quest. A lot of people think the nes is junk but there are really fun games on it. Isn't that what it's all about?
Solid bunch of games you just mentioned! Revenge of the Gator is one of my fav GB games.
YOU are freaking awesome Dweeb! This is the content i didnt know i needed.
I am your medicine
Holy crap on a crutch wall climbing out of the toilet, Taipan!
I had no idea there was a GBA game, but spent a good chunk of my computer lab time playing the OG Taipan on an apple iie with the big floppy cards and greeness.
I need that game.
Is opium still the money commodities?
I'm not sure about the opium, I don't think so though. Maybe they had to tone it down for the gba audience 🤔
I used to love Leonardo because he was a brave leader, but as an adult the rebellious brooding Raphael more appeals to me. Have you played Judgement Silversword? If you are a fan of portable shmups it is really worth a look.
I'll check it out, thanks for the suggestion!
First again homie. Thanks for giving us awesome stuff to watch
My pleasure!
