@Tech Yes city if you ever in Tokyo and wand to grab some beers or whatever ping me :) also Akihabara has lots of these "junk" pc shops prices probably not as good as in the sticks as Tokyo is expensive but maybe you can find something good :) used to work around Akihabara could show you around, also if you ever come to Tokyo public transport is better option than a car as there would be difficulties with parking etc. Tokyo is not good city for car owners.

Missed you man, glad to see you well and healthy, along with everyone you love or care about. I feel the positivity already through the screen, sometimes I wish we could hang out together in Japan if I ever made it there someday, or even Australia in a tour around Golden Coast!

As a Dad myself I'm glad you got some quality-time with your son, that said I wish American retailers put as much effort into presentation as the Japanese market does...very colorful and enticing.

Yeah but prices have left too much to be desired. It's like you're paying for the presentation instead.

Yessssssssss so hype, dude I am so happy you could meet your son again. I know it must have been hard going this long without seeing him. Family is so important, I'm so glad you are still trying your best in this sub optimal situation. Good luck stay safe and spend a lot of time with that young guy okay? Don't worry about the content, family first man, but yeah if he's off at school or something fair enough.

Such a great video on so many levels … first of all it’s so wonderful that you got to see your son. Also I always love when you go hunting for used parts and then it’s exciting when you do that in Japan ! You get that cultural effect on the used parts from a Japanese used parts point of view.

  • @Sybertek

Always meet in person for Mercari. Never do shipping unless the person you're buying from has all kinds of reviews and is verified. I remember getting a so-called RTX 2060 Super for $350 and I got sent a keychain. I didn't review them and I opened a case. They forced the refund and the seller gave me an address. I sent that keychain to the address, it wasn't accepted and the shipment got sent back to me. So I got my money back and I'm up a keychain. Been getting stuff from verified users with reviews and it's been going great.
However, I'm sure you're sticking strictly to meetups. Good on you. Good luck!
By the way, digging the cheap shades.

So happy you got to finally see your son, glad too that you were able to share it through YT! Back when I last went to Japan, I noticed that they're not that into PC gaming, and it seems to be more than a niche than a real thing. My take is that Apple has penetrated their market well and most people wouldn't bother to build a PC or use anything else and would just a get a PlayStation 5 or Nintendo for gaming.
Camera lenses though are a different story.

4:25 My dad used to have that speaker set, boy we were blasting movies all day and having the time of our life, the clarity is fine especially when we play movies that carry the DTS format or Dolby Digital 5.1 , the bass hits hard too.
Unfortunately my dad moved on and bought an AV Receiver setup with his speaker of choice to mix.

Great show Brian, glad you were able to make it to Japan to see your family. On the hard off and parts hunting in Japan. I had noticed the prices at these places being inflated the last time I went there because my father-in-law passed away, about 3 years ago. I went to four different hard-offs and a couple of recycle stores and they were all very overpriced. The last store I went to I asked the clerk where the prices had went up, and he had told me that the store is now searching the value on eBay and Yahoo auctions and so on and so forth. So I literally had to stop my parts hunting there. But hey at least I got to spend time in Japan even though it was for a bad reason I still got some good times.

As a PC builder myself the market in Japan is a bit strange .. I have been to akiba weekly to get the best deals, GPU are coming down but they are still nuts GTX1070 for 34,000 JPY etc .. managed to get a few deals H170 MB for 3,990 JPY and a few PSU for 500 -1000 JPY

    • @erickrayos

thats where mercari comes in. I just got a couple of 1070 for 22k yen each. but you gotta pretty much check on the site/app every day to see them pop once in a while. I recently got a 1070 w/ everything in the box and a waterblock for 30k yen which is not bad since I am doing a custom watercooled build to sell. well if it doesnt sell I was gonna use it anyway.
      got a x370 mobo for 5k yen, and mini-itx x470 for 6500yen.
